Wonderful! I've subscribed so I can use this channel to learn and practice chant. It's something I'd like to bring to my Novus Ordo parish, God willing. Long way to go, but making a start.
Interpretation is also fundamental in Gregorian chant, i.e. the theme and narrative according to the singer's sensibility within a certain spectrum of creativity. The score of Rorate Caeli is easy to sing from a technical point of view. In this case, what gives majesty to the chant is the singer's interpretation.

Pour l'entrée dans l'Avent en ce temps de confinement, le chœur liturgique en ligne de la Chapelle des Pierres Vivantes a enregistré à distance un chant adapté de l'hymne grégorienne pour l'Avent bien connue "Rorate caeli desuper" en français : "Cieux, répandez votre justice" (Isaïe 45,8) dont le premier couplet est en rapport avec l'Evangile de ce dimanche (Isaïe 40,1).

If my Latin does not deceive me, rorate refers to the most delicate of rains, similar to tender weeping.

It can be found i.e. in Liber Usualis - in Appendix, without specification of use. Older Chant books are usually processionals, which indicates, that it could have been used during some Advent Processions. Nowadays it is often used instead of the proper Introit Chant with the same incipit.

The lyrics are so apt for our present times. Rome / the Vatican are so empty of real faith - desolate. "The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert. Jerusalem is desolate, the house of our holiness and of thy glory, where our fathers praised thee." We, like the Jews of old, are waiting for a second redemption
