Which one? “I wish that you would bear with me in a little foolishness; but indeed you are bearing with me. For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin. But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully… …For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. POPE BENEDICT XVI: “The tendency toward jealousy can exist within the Church when Catholics resent holiness and goodness being attained by non-Catholics. Instead we should all be able to always appreciate and respect each other, praising the Lord when he acts in the Church and in the world.”
Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches did not have separate origins, but where one and the same whole Church. Differences started appearing when the Roman empire split in two, one in the East, Byzantine and one in the west, Rome. They still kept communion with each other though political tensions started with some eastern bishops disapproval of papal authority which they saw as the West trying to lord over them. These little tensions continued over the centuries until they split in 1054 AD.

Yeah except for schisming from Rome, loosing all other Patriarchal seats to Islam, splitting in nationalist autocephalous churches and now being in schism with Russia, which is run by a heretical „patriarch“ and tries to usurp the ecumenical rights of Constantinople (which isn’t even named Constantinople anymore). I will never say that eastern orthodox Christians are heretics, they are just wrong and stubborn
And is most logical. Salvation is earned, you’re not perfect but striving to be better than who you were yesterday with growth and decay. Mastering yourself in life. They have had generations of oral traditions and the lives of saints are inspirations for those to do good in life, that Christ’s teachings are realistic. The history of the Orthodox teaches us discipline and effort are a path to a good life.

I agree. It’s painful to see that different sects of the church go at each other online - when in all truth, all of us as followers of Christ makes us more similar than different.
That is quite possible for Orthodox and Roman West as they have been the same Church but it would be impossible to incorporate Protestants and they would need to convert.
We can argue all day about who is the original church or we can unite as brothers and sisters in Christ and follow the teachings of our lord and savior Jesus Christ?! 🙏🏻✝️
That would be nice but there is schism at the moment and that is a sin. In order to unite, there needs to be unity in faith, doctrine and practice. The Protestant churches would also need to consolidate and get rid of any idea of denominations and return to the Apostolic faith. Then east and west would have to sort out a few issues like the filioque and papal supremacy.

As an orthodox christian, i dont harbor any animosity or ill will towards protestants or catholics. They are my brothers and sisters in christ. I just personally dont enjoy the protestant bland show of faith that just consists of overly loud singing, proclaiming gods name in vain and in things that only you yourself can change and take action in, which is why we have intelligence. I just often get the impression that protestants dont take faith and piety too seriously. Art, sculptures, chants, wearing a cross, effort are what makes faith stand out as genuine.

The Church is the expression of Christ. The problem is Jesus meant for the Church to be one and man has divided it up into different interpretations of it, this is not what Jesus intended.
Romans 14, Titus 3:9, Tells us not to argue with other believers. Especially about little things. If your church is sound and follows Scripture, there is no need to argue. If you are saved by the blood of Christ and believe in His sacrifice for your sins, and give your life to Him, what is there to argue about? We are brothers and sisters under God. Fighting for what? Whose church looks the coolest? Whose church can have the most traditions? Whose church can prove it is from direct apostolic succession? What does it matter; we are one family through the sacrifice of our Savior.
Yeah, look, you'll never catch me attacking other Christians. I don't believe in that, and I don't think it solves any of our problems. Having said that, as a Catholic, I think Christians across the board should avail themselves of Sacred Tradition: 2000 years of writings by the saints, church fathers, popes, etc. After Sacred Scripture, it's the next best way we have to help us to a fuller understanding of the Faith. This is my personal invitation to my Protestant brethren (the Eastern Orthodox already do this) because I love you guys. Pax.
no AL here If you are wondering about the question of whether your sexuality is a sin or not, I welcome you to consider the following thoughts for clarification. Let’s look at some basic fundamental facts based on extensive research & ongoing R&D. During fetal development a verity of biochemical agents are introduced which determine the development of the fetus. Research has shown that major agents such as testosterone & estrogen & a host of others agents determine size, weight, hair color, eye color & sexuality along with a host of other traits. Variations in the amount & timing of the introduction of these agents have a major effect in development. The fetus is a passive participant & has no influence in these matters. Sexuality, for example, & all other secondary traits are thus given to us. Well, this begs the question, is homosexuality a sin since there is no choice offered. The fetus has no willful acceptance. However, if your religion or belief system states that it is a sin, then there can be no discussion. These are the rules based on this system’s dogma. If you accept this system, you must accept the rules. Facts are irrelevant. This is your only choice which doesn’t include options & exceptions. Rules are rules! If, however, you are in a belief system based on logic, reason, observation & common sense, & no reliance on spirituality or religion, the conclusion is totally different. Replacing ancient religion & mythology & superstition with reason leads to another conclusion. Leaving religions that use condemnation & ridicule for control, can be the first step in becoming a true human being minus any imposed or fabricated guilt. There exist many variations of human sexual expression as well in the animal kingdom. When you leave various ancient religious beliefs behind & chose knowledge based in research, you can see & understand the true nature of humanity. You leave ignorance, hatred, & prejudice behind. In the book Gay Straight & the Reason Why by Simon Levay PhD, explanations regarding this aspect of humanity are clearly explained & is based on research. While I am not gay, I highly recommend this book & the numerous articles. Being gay is no more of a sin than having red hair. They are both determined by genetics & clearly not a sin. There is nothing wrong with you. This is the true choice. Peace

Our Lord JesusChrist founded a church in Peter and the apostles and it is guided by the Holy Spirit. This Church is: The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, which it is lead by the vicar of Christ on Earth, the Bishop of Rome aka as the Pope. Who currently is Pope Francis. The 266 vicar of Christ. Vivat Christus Rex! Long Live Christ the King! Viva Cristo Rey!
Actually the differences are often bigger inside/STRAIGHT THROUGH DENOMNATIONS THAN BETWEEN THEM-between individual preachers. I am myself a deeply believing christian. I am formally a Lutheran, but I am active in different christan denominations. I choose on sundays after the invidual precacher more than after denomination. For example the Catholic vicar in our town actually preaches MORE LUTHERAN than some priests in my own formally Lutheran church. (Church of Sweden). I thiink that individual preachers in most christian denominations may have the Holy Spirit with them in sermon, while other prechers in the same denomination may not have. The denominations are far from homogenous. It can differ very much within the same denomination on the distance of only 2 tram-stops. I allways choose theologically conservative preachers (not politically but theologically) who preach the classic christian message. I think I can sometimes somewhat sense if the Holy Spirit is there or if it is not so. I think it´s important christians cooperate over denominational boundaries in todays world-where islam is predicted to be biggest religion in 2070-in 50 years from today (because of relatively high nativities.)
The Church cannot live without the people, and only the Orthodox churches are full of people every week. In Greece, Russia, Serbia, Georgia, Romania, Armenia. Look at the liturgies as they are, originally served. Only in Orthodoxy do you have that the entire Athos peninsula is in Greece is purely monastic, with 20 main monasteries, and over 100 skites and smaller monasteries, with a large number of monks living in caves. Such dedication to God does not exist anywhere.
Traditional Catholic churches are filled to capacity with large families. If the Pope and our bishop leaves us alone, mine will be standing room only in a year from now (actually it already is on feast days). Trad Catholic seminaries are also full to capacity with waiting lists to get in. Monastaries and Convents too. EO certainly doesn't hold a monopoly on dedication to God, lol. What? 😆

Their worship of me is made up of rules (and traditions) taught by men. You worship me in vain. Therefore in one day I will... ... Do your homework brothers. You can see God is very, very upset. Let me urge you even more by quoting from Hosea 4:6 'My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have REJECTED KNOWLEDGE, [( 'spiritual knowledge' as opposed to encyclopaedic knowledge)] I also reject you as my priests; because you have IGNORED THE LAW OF YOUR GOD, I also will ignore your children. I pray at home go on my knees before bedtime and pray before in the morning to help me my fam to protect us from all evil in this world we live in and to help me to be a better person. When comes to judge us he is not going to ask what church we belonged to.
We are not saved by traditions, sacraments , works, lineage, ceremony, or elaborate buildings. “We are saved by Grace through faith alone, not as the result of works lest any man should boast. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which He prepared beforehand.” The message of salvation through Christ is in the Bible. It does not require genius to comprehend it. In fact you must trust with the faith of a child as Jesus taught. Anyone who is born again has the indwelling Holy Spirit. They have the mind of Christ. They have a high priest who ever intercedes for them. Christ is totally sufficient. There is nothing we do that creates any extra dispensation of grace or favor. If that’s what your church teaches you’re in the right place. You’re following the only thing that never changes- the inspired word of God.
lol You misquoted the Bible. Paul never said “faith alone”. Martin Luther inserted that. The only Bible verse you’ll find that says “faith alone” is in James, as a negative, Faith and works were never meant to be separated, they were always meant to be one, as in “faithfulness”.
Faith alone cannot save you because your faith and thoughts are fragile. They can be subject to emotional situations which have nothing to do with reality. You have to get out of your individualism to participate in the truth of God who himself exists in the way of a relationship (Holy Trinity). This is also why your relationship to Christ can only be true through the Church. Because there you'll meet all kind of humans, the interaction with them will show you what kind of person you really are. Outside the church there is no Christ
@@christosanastasiadis8735 Pretty sure we are saved by the word of Christ not a church. We are saved the moment we put our faith and trust in Jesus Chris. No water, no priest, no church, no sacraments, required, just the word of God and one's willingness to believe.
I find it very frustrating when people, explaining the Protestant/Lutheran beliefs, primarily focus on the sola scriptura and sometimes sola fide There’s three more solas, which are very important in the Lutheran doctrine
Well I personally don’t believe in sola scriptura simply because of how easy it is for people to twist the words of the Bible to their own agenda. Yes, the Bible IS the ultimate authority as it is the word of God, but just because it’s the word of God doesn’t mean that you should come to your own conclusion about what it means. You need a combination of your own faith and the help of people experienced with church doctrines to properly understand the Bible. By saying you should interpret the Bible on your own you are basically saying you have more authority over thousands of years of teachings by theologians and people way more well versed in concepts such as theosis and how to properly carry out the sacraments. The church is very much so needed still. Now, that doesn’t mean I don’t believe going to a Protestant church is wrong as I think as long as you go to a truly Christian church then you are fine. I just don’t believe that you should just avoid church because you think the Bible is all you need.
@@memesouls8653 and I agree with you! Sola Scriptura isn’t about you and your own interpretation, because the Bible is so complicated, we need the church to decide dogma and teachings. The church is indeed very important. But the people of the church change over time, why I wouldn’t say their authority is above the Bible, because it’s unchangeable and therefore the best guideline for dogmatic development.
If anyone can help me understand why does Protestant believe in faith only? Reason why I ask is because if you have faith don’t you perform the good works as well?
Because Martin Luther and Jean Cauvin (John Calvin) said a human can only be saved by Christ and His Word. Soli Deo Gloria, Calvin wrote about Sola Scriptura, only the scripture, Sola Fide, only faith Sola Gratia, only by the grace of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Yes that's true, but Jesus said himself "whoever believes in me shall be granted eternal life" and you can also look at when the thief on the cross was saved by Jesus, simply by putting his faith in him.
Good deeds arise from the faith. Our deeds are a reflection of our faith. But what we believe is that we cannot be saved because of our merit or good deeds but rather by faith in the righteousness & saving grace of Christ.. the works then follow as a result of the God’s redeeming power in the person. & that is how one can recognise whether a person is saved or not by the fruits of his or her spirit. Good works are definitely needed to be done because Jesus says that if you love me you will keep my commandants. But they are not the reason we are saved because Paul said that it is by grace through faith that one is saved so that no man can boast in their own self or works.
Yes absolutely. This video massively generalized Protestants and the sola’s Luther taught. Take a moment and look up how Martin Luther defines faith. It’s much more than just saying you believe.
Your good works do not affect your salvation.. now what is salvation? That's the process of being saved.. what are you being saved from? You're being saved from judgement due to the sins you committed in the past Now think about it, do you think any amount of good work can save you from your sin? Obviously not, the only thing that saves us is the blood of Christ and only faith in him gets us access to that
The video doesn't answer who got it right, in spite of the title. The conclusion is just a bunch of non-statements, seemingly generated by the AI. But the answer is: the Catholic Church is that one true Church that Our Lord founded on St. Peter the rock.

That is the reason why the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, starting with St. Peter with its unbroken list of popes until to the present Pope Francis is the true Church of Christ, which was founded by Jesus Christ in 33AD (Matthew 16:18). There were about 120 persons gathered there and waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit as Jesus promised them.
I'll follow Christ and stay with the Christian church. Reading of the New Testament will reveal that the Catholic Church does not have its origin in the teachings of Jesus or His apostles. In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy, worship/adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix), petitioning saints in heaven for their prayers, apostolic succession, the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sin to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture. We are not saved by sacraments; we are saved by faith. As one can see the origin of the Catholic Church is not in the teachings of Jesus and His apostles.

No. Bible never specifically mentions needing an apostolic succession and even if, Catholicism has had numerous “anti-popes” through history, breaking that chain many many times so even the RCC can’t claim to have a solid apostolic succession. If it’s not stated in the Bible, take it with a grain of salt.
THERE WAS ONLY ONE CHURH ESTABLISHED BY JESUS CHRIST: The Orthodox Church is The One Holy Catholic (not Roman) and Apostolic Church. After the schism of 1054 AD when rome left that church and took the name Roman Catholic the other 4 Patriarchates had to take a new name to distinguish between Roman Catholic and the Church that Jesus Built, so they took the name Orthodox meaning the correct doctrine. The one Holy catholic (not roman) and Apostolic Church it is still the Orthodox Church and the 4 ancient patriarchates are still united today with additions to Russia, Bulgaria, and Romania, and the Serbian Patriarchates. I do not understand why the Roman Catholics drop the word Roman from Roman Catholicism? as this is the name that they took after the Schism of 1054 AD are they ignorant or they doing it on purpose to force their falsehood on uneducated people and make them accept the heresies and Roman inventions. Rome uses the name Vicar for the pope the word Vicar means to replace how can we replace Jesus Christ and put in his place the pope? 🥲🥲🥲 🙏☦️🙏❤️
There are 23 different rites in the Catholic Church, Rome being one of them. All, however, submit to the Pope of Rome. The term “Roman Catholic Church” can be misleading (it was originally created by Anglicans, not Catholics) because in English-speaking countries it is commonly used to denote the entire Catholic Church-which ignores all the other particular churches that have their own rites and traditions. As a footnote, most Ministers in the Anglican Church are called 'vicars'. Linguistically this means the same as it does in Rome - it's someone standing in place of Christ as a deputy (not claiming to be Christ).
POPE BENEDICT XVI: “Faith is not the simple intellectual approval by man of truths concerning God. It is an act in which I freely entrust myself to a God who is Father and who loves me.... Having faith is above all about having a relationship with a God whose love is indestructible and who understands people’s problems. Christian faith entails giving up control and placing one’s life in God’s hands. It’s this liberating and reassuring certainly of faith that helps people live without fear, proclaiming and living out the Gospel message with courage. Faith shows that humanity won’t find its full realization unless the human person is animated by the love that comes from God. The gift of faith then finds expression in relationships full of love, compassion, care and selfless service toward others.”
Catholics are right . Protestant change lots of things they shouldn't. Orthodox decided to be national churches like Serbian Orthodox Church without evangelisation
This is a horrible argument against the orthodox. Autocephalous church’s was the norm since the beginning. Each of those church’s hold to the exact same beliefs with the only difference being language and certainly national feasts that are celebrated. And to deny that the Catholic Church does not have an ethnic character, as any church does, is absurd.
We should first focus on the bible alone. You are saved from believing in Jesus Christ as your only savior and by repenting your sins. You DO NOT need to pay the church or do any wordly things to come in to heaven, according to the bible. God says in the bible these things can be beneficial and sin leads to bad things, but they are not needed for salvation. I do not say don't go to church, it helps you to grow in your faith to go to the church, but also live your life like the bible (god) tells you, not what a men tells you. Even Jesus said love your church but also test their faith by comparing their actions with what the bible says.

This video was written with a biased Orthodox point of view. It says the Orthodox Church was the first Christian church, however, the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches were one church, under the pope, until the split in 1054. Then the continuing church became known as the Roman Catholic Church and the church that split off became known as the Orthodox Church. So the first Christian church would have actually been the Roman Catholic Church, though it didn’t use that name back then and the Orthodox Church was part of it.
Cardinal Humbert anathematized the patriarch of Constantinople during a Divine Liturgy. Rome kicked off the split and the east countered with their own anathema.
This is my personal invitation to my Protestant brethren (the Eastern Orthodox already do this) because I love you guys.

no AL here If you are wondering about the question of whether your sexuality is a sin or not, I welcome you to consider the following thoughts for clarification.
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.” (Mt 10:34)
Our Lord JesusChrist founded a church in Peter and the apostles and it is guided by the Holy Spirit. This Church is:
The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, which it is lead by the vicar of Christ on Earth, the Bishop of Rome aka as the Pope. Who currently is Pope Francis. The 266 vicar of Christ.
Vivat Christus Rex!
Long Live Christ the King!
Viva Cristo Rey!
That sounds rather one-sided...
How many "vicars of christ" were having orgies back in the day?
PRAISE BE TO GOD LORD JESUS
HAIL HOLY QUEEN MOTHER OF GOD
HER IMMACULATE HEART WILL TRIUMPH

We are not saved by traditions, sacraments , works, lineage, ceremony, or elaborate buildings.
“We are saved by Grace through faith alone, not as the result of works lest any man should boast. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which He prepared beforehand.”
The message of salvation through Christ is in the Bible.

You misquoted the Bible. Paul never said “faith alone”. Martin Luther inserted that.
The only Bible verse you’ll find that says “faith alone” is in James, as a negative,
Faith and works were never meant to be separated, they were always meant to be one, as in “faithfulness”.

Thank you this is a very helpful video
I find it very frustrating when people, explaining the Protestant/Lutheran beliefs, primarily focus on the sola scriptura and sometimes sola fide
There’s three more solas, which are very important in the Lutheran doctrine

You're being saved from judgement due to the sins you committed in the past
Now think about it, do you think any amount of good work can save you from your sin? Obviously not, the only thing that saves us is the blood of Christ and only faith in him gets us access to that
God in his wisdom has allowed many ways to follow him through Christ.

No. Bible never specifically mentions needing an apostolic succession and even if, Catholicism has had numerous “anti-popes” through history, breaking that chain many many times so even the RCC can’t claim to have a solid apostolic succession. If it’s not stated in the Bible, take it with a grain of salt.

So, I am confused. Did eastern orthodox branch of Christianity emerge right after Christ's resurrection or as a result of eastern Schism in 1054?
Yes. Eastern Orthodoxy is the original true purest form of Christianity. All others come from eastern orthodoxy

It was the Christian church that came before the Catholic church you split from.

In my opinion, based on what I've come to know, the "true church" realistically only makes sense for it to be either Roman Catholicism or Eastern Orthodoxy, which is also what divides me. I say the Roman Catholic church because it's the largest Christian denomination, and they have the Pope. But I say Eastern Orthodoxy because, imo, their teachings make a lot more sense than some of that of Roman Catholicism. This uncertainty is a struggle.
From where comes the concept of Papal Authority. Answer that question.
Exactly what jimbooi1 said
Papal Authority makes No sense.
And the Orthodox keep the same teachings/worship that the Original Catholic Church did. Not to be confused with what people now know as the Roman Catholic Church.

Eastern Christians never were under pope, don’t mislead people
Cardinal Humbert anathematized the patriarch of Constantinople during a Divine Liturgy. Rome kicked off the split and the east countered with their own anathema. It was at first a dispute between patriarchs which most people didn't even know about until after some time. You're right, there was only 1 church for 1000 years. I hope there can be unity again one day.

The most important difference between Catholics on the one hand and Orthodox and Protestants is that the Catholic religion is not subordinate to the state authorities in a given country, but to the Pope, an international institution. For this reason, Catholicism is not a source of nationalism, as is the case with the other religions mentioned.
There are >33000 denominations in Protestant church ! Which one do you believe ?
The one that works for you. Protestantism focus on The 5 solas only, as mechanisms to guide the understanding and the posicion of the church regarding matters of faith, doctrines and more. And the denomanations within Protestantism are branches who focus in particular aspects of Theology, as an exemple: Calvinism (followed by Presbeteryans, Dutch Reformed and more), focus on the supreme authority of God above everything, the Anglicans if i'm not mistaken are a brach who keeps the 5 solas with a lot of catholic traditions, Pentecostals focus on the Journey of gaining spirutual gifts, as speaking in tongues, the gift of cure, of prophecies, and more. As the Catholic has 3 supreme authorit, the Bible, the Magisterium and the traditions, if i'm not mistaken, Protestants only use use the bible as the Unfallible authority. In this case Catholics have a horizontal view of the Authority while Protestants have a Vertical view of the authority.
