My wife and I just got home from a 7 hour round trip to pick up a 68 beetle body. We needed it to repair the 68 that i bought her a few months ago to restore for her 40th birthday. We both enjoy seeing hour collection along with Vw nut and Mustie 1.

winter garage time is coming lol
close to 20yrs ago we cut up a mid 60s square in similar condition as it was worth more in parts than whole, to help fund a bus project I had..as with anything vw related seems harder and harder to find, revive and keep alive!! Most my old school stuff shipped off to Japan
You will love playing with the D-Jetronic system. That plugged fuel line likely went to the cold start jet/injector setup. They will usually start without that system connected. Like any VW, make sure the points are clean, and the rotten fuel lines are replaced before trying to start. The D-jet system does not tolerate any vacuum leaks either. The pressure sensors are problematic, the Bentley manuals are not too bad, but seek out a Henry Elfrink fuel injection manual; it is the best info source. This injection system is a dream to drive when in good order...

@@5150mxVW It is an interesting system. I resurrected a '69 Fastback that was parked with a running problem and sat outside for over ten years. Once finally up and running, it was a very pleasant car to drive with significantly more power than the 1600 Beetles. It might take some effort to get it running, but will be well worth it in the end...
Those 2 Karmann Ghias, convertibles, awesome, that yellow car reminds me of a kit car based on the MG, or Excalibur it also looks awesome, that square back looks neat,whatwas kinda funny, was when the car had a mild case of indigestion or acid reflux, now what is with those hideous lights, it looks like Jaws are the back, lights, and took a chunk put of the front fender.

Wow! you guys have it going on with the AirCooled VDubs i admit i too like the yellow Roadster as i have owned a 1953 MGTD, a 1955MGTF, and a few other British Sports Cars My Father got me going on the VW Beetles as he bought a 58 and a 64 Brand new and i spent many hours in the back seat watching him shift and steer the 64”Green Machine “ as the car was lovingly called by many family members and Freinds the car was ordered inthe typical Volkswagen Green but what he got was a weirdBlueish Green color that wasn’t a factory color so he and my Mom kept the car and drove it for several years untill he bought a used 67 Mustang Fastback

Eagle One had a great quick wax , they dropped it from their line about 15 years ago " THE WET LOOK" later they came out with a somewhat similar name , but near as good as the first one ! sure miss that wax ! I do like their products !

I had a red Square Back sedan in College. At that time I was in the habit of naming my cars. I named the Square Back "Erma" , It also sprung a leak in the fuel line much like yours did, lol, the video reminded me of it exactly.lol.,.......Good Times!

Back when Brian had the 'fro! Your mom's garage is sweet! Wish I had a nice space like that to work on that garbage. It's been so wet so often here in Dallas I haven't had a chance to get ANY ground work done. In the process of trying to get some carports put down so I can at least get the 57 out of the direct weather. I've got an all-weather car cover on it now but I want a solid barrier.
When that squareback peed itself I almost snorted when I laughed, lol. Brian has been working on his fastback lately too. Same engine. Not sure if your squareback was an automatic or not. I forgot to look.

Hi Dave, I haven't found the wheel lock key and they are ford bolt pattern ....haha , yeah it did , at least the pump works ....turns out the key was in the on position

What install a lift in the garage ?! ....no way ! It would take up valuable engineering space !!!. Another good video, I wish I had the same size garage etc in the UK, but we live on a very small island:-)

5150 when you decide to put the lift in at Steve’s place....... If you’re going to go two posts,,The cement floors needs at least 6 inches thick of cement which I would be surprised if the floor at Steve-is that thick ,,,,,,,, Your going to have to probably cut a 2 x 2 or 3 x 2 slabs I want to foot of cement 2x2 or 3x2 then you can put it in there,,, For the two post lift we carefully put the two posts make sure it doesn’t interfere with the garage door operation,,,, Saw that happen once also so I got one wrong spot need to go to foot forward after he put the car almost threw the roof of the garage,,,,,,,,,,,, I get one od those little scissor lifts goes about 48 inches high ,,,,,,,,,,, Only thing is you can’t do work On the under side of the car .... Its great for change the tires Brake jobs oil filter grease things like that detail and welding and stuff like that,,,,,,,,,,,, As for you,,,,,,,,, ,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hurry up and get the wagon done........ Get a lift Steve, be the best thing you ever did for those toys you've got in there ;) Love that Squareback, Love the wheels, the lines, would go through that, steal the motor out of the 'SuperBug' 2857, and make it the funnest little Wagon Hauler in the East! ..maybe a Porsche motor instead ;) That's a bit of an inside joke, because I keep telling Mustie1 to put one in something, and he had one!(Porsche motor) just got offered enough to pry it away from him..heck, you might have bought it for all I know!
I would have to leave the 2387 in the black Bug ....I wouldn't alter that car but also the chassis and tranny are all built for that motor and 12 seconds :). We shall see what lies ahead for the SQ , getting it running and stopping , is step 1 . We do have a running Porsche motor in the herd .....I remember M1's motor :). Haha, no , I have never bought anything from him , ( he doesn't really sell anything lol ) his trailer however has left here more than once ...lately :))). Thank you for droppin in 217👍.
@@5150mxVW , and it is always a surprise to see that 2387 go like that, just seems like that power and speed is more fitting w/a Ghia or that SQ. But a Porsche motor in that squareback(which has more room than others to add things)would be a great powerplant for it. Just think 1 of those types I mentioned would make a cool fast car. So M1 has been hauling away from there? Can't wait to see what he has in the works too ;)
Every car garage needs a decent lift especially if you've got the height. You know you want one, go buy one! Failing that, dig an inspection pit.

I'm really glad that those great looking aluminum rims can be saved. The yellow roadster and the red Karmann Ghias look fantastic (especially the '65 convertible).
I always thought that the first VW with fuel injection had been the 411/412 (nicknamed coati in Germany because of the nose). But maybe fuel injection engines were only made for America?

Man that wagon is really starting to grow on me. On a side note with the new UA-cam rules coming does that mean no more Josh helping out working on the cars? One of my R/C sites is going away because of them.

I work on a lot of Djet Stuff . A lot of Djet equiped cars burned down when perished hoses burst spraying hot fuel onto the distributor . In your case i would drop the engine and redo all the hoses, get the injectors cleaned (nd the cold start ) and ensure all connections are clean .When they in good order they start so easily and run nicely it's a wonder so many run like the proverbial bag of crap.

It was in 1977, great car, but a friend told me they had a reputation for catching fire. So I decided to sell it, and a guy that would pick on guys in High School was asking about me selling it. I sold it to him and within a week, maybe sooner I drove by his house and saw it burned to the ground. I’m sure he was driving the hell out of it. He was told the fuel pump kept feeding the fire until the firemen showed up to put it out. He was pissed at me for unite awhile. Karma is a bitch!

I hope you change things to original on that 1970 Sqaureback type3. Ah yes a D jettronik F. I. when they work they are nice but they do not make many parts for it anymore. I have 3 type3,s 1969 fatback VW1600TL @ 1969 Sqaureback VW1600L and a 1968 Sqaureback parts car. If you need type 3 parts I have them.
From my understanding the fi system in vw was horrible. It might be cheaper and better to put duel carbs on it. I remember my dads friends would have problems with the fi system and they would convert them to duel carbs in a day with a 18 pack of bud. Lol old memorys
I have read pretty good things about it ...I think people ( me included ) just don't feel like learning about it ...it's a been long weekend of learning lol

Just had your video pop up. I have a 67 Ghia and I also have a 914 engine and transmission that I want to put into it, and I have heard that I will need to flip the ring gear in the 914 transmission and I have no idea on how to do that. I do have many years of experience working on car's, just not VW's and Porsche. Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated...

I lv the look of the squareback, but in my 40 some years I Personally have not seen one of them here in the UK, can you let me know the actual model name and production years please, or would just searching VW Squareback work, I am very curious to see if and how many are left here in England now and average prices.
Now they have all lifts, instead of having those big ones, you can get a nice one, that does not take up a lot of space, is that a hot rod volkswagen Squareback, or is it restomod.
i ordered a harbour freight one , we will see :) . I think he just modded the turn signals front and rear , they are quite large for the 70's models .
The sprayer on the Eagle tire and wheel cleaner is a joke! While the fluid does its job, the sprayer sinks the deal!😖
