Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

Some obviously don't, but most of us truly appreciate your "shorts" videos Don. These little tidbits of information are priceless in a pinch situation. Thanks for your efforts. God bless. Rev. D.
thanks Rev!
@@donyboy73 The "Rev" part is short for Reverend. And you are very welcome, thank you again for your videos. Peace brother. Rev. D.
THANK YOU for this little video! While getting firewood at my vacation cabin, my well used Stihl was a little boggy. I never checked the arrester and wanted to but I didn't want to mess with those "clips." I wasn't sure how to remove them, I thought they were some kind of weird screw head. Next time i'm up there I can do it.
Hah, I was just wondering about those. I would like to take the muffler off my Stihl and looked at the caps and wondered if they are some kind of weird new fasteners you need a special tool to remove and install and if there is a chance of failure to seal the muffler if I don't have the tool. Didn't know they are just caps. Thanks for the explanation!
I am so grateful that you are posting videos.
UA-cam is full of amateur DIY'ers posting similar repair videos, with little-to-no preparation and poor camera work.
It's good to watch a professional on outdoor equipment servicing. Please don't stop.
Occasional question and answer videos would be a nice addition.
thanks buddy!
ALL of your videos on the Stihl chainsaws are very informational, outstanding and easy to understand. Thank you, so much.
You have saved my butt more times than I can count. Thanks and keep 'em coming!
Easy ,simple and very useful information 👌. Thank you very much!
Thanks Dony, I wondered how to get them off. Thanks for showing me.
Crumbs, never saw those cover clips before, thanks Don, another great clear and nicely shot video, much appreciated 👍👌👏
Well I learned this the hard way. Thanks again Don
Arrester screen removed, you ROCK man!
"And to get them back in just push them in with your thumb"....... or just throw them in the garbage 😄
Good day Boy easy & short. Thanks
I believe this is the key to cleaning the spark arrester screen on my MS211 CBE. Thanks! 👍
That’s how you do it, almost to easy! Thanks for taking the time to help us out bro!👍🏻☮✌🏻
This is kind of important! If you don't know in advance that these are merely covering clips and not some special fastener, you might find yourself stuck in the field with a saw that's bogging down due to a clogged spark arrestor, and not know that you actually have all the tools on hand to fix it.
That's exactly what just happened to me while getting firewood at my vacation cabin. Never checked the arrester on my old Stihl but I didn't want to mess with those "clips" because I wasn't sure how to remove them. I thought they were some kind of weird screw head. If I only watched this video first but hey, now I know!
Thanks bro! 👍
Awesome. Thanks dony!
I guess you had your pick of tools to use...lol.
Thanks for the tip. Cheers from NB
yes indeed!
Thanks for the tip.
Hello from Greece, thank you for all your videos . Can you please make a video of how to clean the muffler (out and in - if possible for the inside) from the black cover . Or if you already have such a video please send me the link .
I am interested for ms 251 or similar stihl chainsaw.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Hey Donny, have you worked on any of the Powersmart snow blowers, specifically the auger shafts?
Very poor design, the shaft is 3 piece and where they come together you have two half circles on the ends and when they meet up it creates a full circle that the shear pins go through. I have one that got loose and the axle spun on the shear pins destroying the center shaft.
Great tutorial- thanks!
Great job, ThNk you.
Sweet.
Just saved me tons of time thank you sir
Grouse stuff Donny mate cheers from Australia to Canada and stay safe etc.
Can you show how to remove the KAT muffler from a stihl ms 170?
Awesome tip ! Thanks
Hello from Piqua Ohio. Keep up the great videos! Fantastic job.
Hey, thanks!
Thanks again Boss!
Thanks again for another great video. Heres my dilemma..
Working on a MS311 . I installed a new ignition coil and now have spark. I have a good spark plug and fuel but it wont fire. Even if I spray fuel in on the carburetor it won't fire. What is the problem?
Love the videos keep them up
Those pick tools, how'd we get along with out them !!!! Thanks DB73 - Very informative.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the helpful video.
Thanks
Thank you sir
Thanks! 👍
Does running without the caps change performance at all?
Legend cheers mate
Thanks helpful
Those bolts on the ms311 seem to be locktited in( are they?). What kind of loctite do u use on those ( blue?) thanks!
blue loctite #242
Tks
What's the purpose of those covers/clips?
to prevent dirt from getting in and plugging the torx screw heads
Did a compression test on Tecumseh 3hp 2-cycle snowblower using store loaner-tool OEM tester.
Is 100 O.K? These tools would read low in error, not high. Right?
if piston and cylinder are not scored you should be ok
Super. Thanks
Why do you favor Milwaukee power tools over makita?
started off with Milwaukee and I'm happy with them
@@donyboy73 I guess a lot of people are biased to their tools. I know makita fans, Milwaukee and dewalt fans. I always owned dewalt and wanted to try something new!
@@appleztooranges
Not a fan of dewalt, that said i have makita and one milwalkee, love them both.
My friend loves Milwaukee.
1 more reason you ever see a mechanic that know it all. Run very fast the other way. They don't know shit. I watch this as 37+ years experienced retired diesel mechanic. I try learn something new daily & did all my 37+ years. Beats tearing parts up unnecessary over your own personal pride. Before You Tube & internet..Yes we did if we didn't have the right good proper maintenance manual to read beforehand. I got chainsaw just like that. I Suspect muffler screen is stopped up.
Why in the hell are they ther to begin with?
