As a hairdresser, no you guys. Don’t do this, it’s going to bleed and you’ll likely have spotting on the parts of dry hair that will inevitably make contact with the bleach. You will need a color correction and it’s more aggravation then it’s worth. Use foils or if your not good with foils you’d be much safer using a cap.

You have excellent English, and I’m not just saying this to make you feel good ! What I say is true.
    You must not apologise.
The only thing you need to work on, is your confidence.
You must stop the narrative going on in your mind, that is telling you that your English is not good enough.
Every time that negative thought pops in, you must say, “NO ! …. you are trying to sabotage me ! My English is excellent and it gets better every day”.
There is a wise saying…. “We must not believe everything our mind tells us”. ! 👍
Please be happy, and take care… 🌈

I tried to do highlights in this manner and was very careful but the strands 'ran' when I placed the hair down over a highlighted row. And it was a terrible mess. Colored hair strands are very tangly when the coloring product is on and hair around it is hard to comb evenly .. Just saying this was my experience and it may not be yours but it cost me hundreds to fix. This to me is a pretty iffy procedure.

Because of the natural oils in your hair it doesn't penetrate, it sits on top of the hair shaft. That's why the highlights aren't super bright, but it makes the process fool-proof.

If you do this on your own, do not press one layer on another but try to gently lay one over the other. Otherwise the act of pressing one layer over the other with too much pressure will spread the bleach underneath. I intend to try this, but with only a few highlights around the face. Done PROPERLY this could be a time saver. However, I was a hairdresser so do have experience on my side.

    • @alexcara
      @alexcara  3 роки тому +2

      Hi John,
The powder from video ( Freehand technique powder) has power to light up max 6 levels.
To make it max blond I should use 12% of peroxide mixing 1part of powder with 1.5 parts of peroxide, and high the waiting time to 70-90 minutes. Loreal recomands max 50 min but in my practice the result will be more blonde after 60-80 minutes. It will be the max result what this method and product can do.
Loreal also has a powder for freehand techniques which can high up to 8 levels. The powders name is " Multi technique bonder inside", mixing ratio and wating time is the same as "Freehand technique powder".
And in case if it will not be enough, than it's better to make the highlights in foil instead (using max 9% peroxide).

You waste a TON of product this way. And as you can see, you get a very minimal result. The brush on method, even during hair painting free hand, is used to coat and saturate the strands so that the lightener actually penetrates the hair. All hair has natural oils which repel moisture. That is why you see the product beading and sitting atop the hair strand instead of soaking in as it would have done with a liquid hydrogen peroxide mix. If you are going to do this bottle nonsense, at least do yourself a favor and don’t get the cream developer. Ugh.

I agree it's not the ideal way, but it's a great fool-proof way for novices to do it at home without ruining their hair. The fact that it sits on top of the hair shaft keeps it from bleeding onto places you don't want it. Yes, it makes for minimal highlights but it's worth the trade-off of being mostly fool-proof. If I can't make it to the hairdresser this would be a great way for me to keep my highlights fresh until I can get there again. It's a good video for lockdown.

Hi, Alex! Thank you for video! How percent of oxygen you have used?

    • @alexcara

Hi I used 12 % because it was in free air. If someone wants to make highlights in foil than I recommend to not use more than 6% of oxidant.

I just found those mirrors that have different angles so when you set it up you can see all around your head easily when doing your hair. Not sure if that helps, but good luck!

I like this idea if she stays about an inch and a half away from the scalp with a bottle and then you just stripe it on thinly but that’s kind of too many highlights in one row I would say less is more
