      Deanndra Nunnery, this turned out amazing and i really loved this look because I’ve been wanting to dye my hair for the longest and can’t now that salons are closed and would love to give this one a try. My question is; if I were to use a toner with it what toner do you think is best? Please let me know ? Thank you

    I’ve never dyed my hair on my own I’ve always paid 200+ for a balayage, but I found your video and oooo GURL. I haven’t had my hair done in about a year so it was mostly grown out, I have dark brown hair and followed your video to a T and it turned out so good!!! Super subtle, looks professional, and after I bought everything you used it only cost me about 20 bucks. No shade to my hairdresser but I’m never going back 😂

    • @DeanndraNunnery
      @DeanndraNunnery  4 роки тому +28

      Lol now is the perfect time to diy!! It makes a difference depending on your bleach results. For me, it has never made so much a difference that I feel it is necessary. I try to avoid further damage so I choose to just use the Eva NYC purple conditioner and a purple shampoo. If your hair turns out to be really orange with the bleach and the purple isn't helping combat that, you can use a toner to try to remove some of the orange undertones. Or if you want a more ashy color, the toner will also help you achieve that. The toner will be a more permanent result as far as the undertone of your hair. But i do like to do a weekly deep condition with the eva NYC conditioner and I find that it's the same as a toner and keeps my hair soft and healthy. It really is a personal preference though! Hope that helps! 💞

  • @queenofstitcheswarrior2668

    Wow girlll it came out stunning 😍
    Natural talent👊🏼
    I was a hair dresser and i did it myself one time, without the comb; freestyle balayage and backcombing the hair to get a nice blend. I have a lot of thick hair and my arms are killing me😂
    The last time i went to the salon and payed €200 for a cut and balayage & toner 😅
    It turned out far to blond and my curls died in that moment.
    So now i’m scared and after watching you nailing this, i might give it a try with that special comb🤞🏼
    I must use a toner, caramel color Loreal professional Diariches, because i have a lot of red pigment and it gives back shine to my hair.
    About the purple shampoo or how we Dutchies call it, Silvershampoo:
    Blue shampoo is best for removing orange tones and purple shampoo for jellow tones. Thank you for sharing🌻

    FOR ANYONE WHO DOESN’T WANT TO USE a BOX DYE: I would recommend 10 or 20 volume developer with Balayage Lightener powder. The powder for these specific lighteners for balayage will ideally create lightened AND caramel highlights that way you don’t massively over bleach your hair and it all turns out orange. Research this for more info on why there are balayage lighteners specifically for this type of hair painting.
    Also, look into why clay lighteners is better than powder... it’s amazing to learn that Clay doesn’t swell as bleach powder and that is usually why people mess up their hair when they DIY balyage if the bleach lightener swells when you are hair painting and it’s in your hair too long and it bleeds in the other parts of your hair if you didn’t properly foil it.

    • @DeanndraNunnery
      @DeanndraNunnery  2 роки тому

      My hair was previously highlighted then covered with dark dye so I think that helped with the tone. I have a more recent video I did where my hair went really orange. I showed all the non-professional steps I used to get it to tone.
      The hair is weaved with the comb so even though it looks like a lot of dark, it actually is very small pieces of dark and blonde mixed. That's what gives the dimension.

      Deanndra Nunnery only thing is my hair is like dark I’m not sure what kind to get I think I need it lighter to achieve honey color??! My hair is blackish dark brown

    • @DeanndraNunnery
      @DeanndraNunnery  4 роки тому +1

      No my hair was dyed a dark brown almost black like 2 months before I did this. My natural color is closer to black and this kit has always given me honey results. Just make sure to wrap it in foils or the plastic cap that come with the kit so the bleach doesn’t dry. If you want it to lift more after the 30 min you can add a little heat with a blow dryer with the foils/plastic still on and it might lift more. But I think you’ll be fine with this one.

    • @DeanndraNunnery
      @DeanndraNunnery  4 роки тому +4

      Purple shampoo works great! if you want more permanent results, pick up a toner and developer from Sally’s. Apply while hair is damp then use purple shampoo/conditioner to rinse out. Continue using the purple shampoo/conditioner

    • @DeanndraNunnery

      You’re welcome! I always just get the wella brand and the Sally’s brand developer. The most common color people use is the wella t18 which is an ash blonde amzn.to/2Tp8T9l
      I actually like the warm undertones in my highlights because of my skin color. (I still want to be brunette just with highlights if that makes sense) So I go with t11 amzn.to/3awZ8vr
      It really just depends on what tone you want your hair to be. ❤️❤️ hope that helps!

    I want to try this out but I’ve had highlights before and they left my hair super dry. I’m afraid it will be dry again. What product/oil do you recommend for me to use after the application? Also, what toner do you recommend for me to use, I have dark brown hair. Thank you for all your tips and advices. I can’t wait to try this out!

    • @DeanndraNunnery
      @DeanndraNunnery  4 роки тому +3

      I would recommend to use this olaplex treatment for dry hair after bleach. (Oil doesn’t actually help repair damage) amzn.to/2XkXYzr
      Also, I didn’t use a toner with this kit, these are my results with the bleach alone. I do have a video on how I upkeep the tone and health of my hair without using anything damaging. if you’d like to see that video ua-cam.com/video/ZfYTtpzdXWg/v-deo.html
      The general rule for toner is purple for yellow bleach results and blue for orange bleach results. In case you do end up needing a toner!

I love that I don’t have to use toner. I do wash with a purple shampoo but I never feel the need to go in with toner any more. Wow! My first time getting my hair color changed and the amount of BS this girl at the salon told me. I ended up spending about $500 because she said she had to change the base color and did a full balayage and then used a glaze. It didn’t even come out the way I wanted it to. I was ripped from inside out and now I also have a heart ache. I feel like a fool. I am never going to any salon ever again! First get ripped and then not even get what you want! I do a better job than them.

    I just used this kit and didn't use a toner and didn't get your results. Mine definitely went brassy, but I am ordering Wella T18 and T27 toner from Sally's for delivery during quarantine. I bet this will do the trick! I also have hair that is half the length and didn't find that I had enough mixture from one box. I really need two! I did use the cap method though so that might be the reason why I didn't have enough. When I do the 2nd box, I"m definitely doing this method to help it blend even more.

    • @DeanndraNunnery
      @DeanndraNunnery  4 роки тому

      The results with bleach definitely vary on each person depending on hair type, undertones, and if you had a previous color on your hair. The toner probably won’t work because it won’t lighten your hair or lift color. You probably need to lighten again and use a blue toner, shampoo, or hair mask if it’s orange. (Blue for orange hair/purple for yellow hair). I’ve always had enough with one box but again every person varies depending on hair type and thickness. This method is way easier than the cap for sure! Good luck!

    • @honeybrowne24
      @honeybrowne24 4 роки тому

      @@DeanndraNunnery Thanks for the tips! I plan on bleaching again w/ the 2nd box. I also have stubborn gray roots to content with. Yuck LOL But once I do get it lightened enough, the toner would work, right? I"m looking for ash & caramel deposits in the highlights.

    • @DeanndraNunnery
      @DeanndraNunnery  4 роки тому +1

      Your hair will have to be lifted to a level 7 or lighter for t18 to work. Idk what your hair looks like but that’s the lightest blonde you can get. I wouldn’t recommend bleaching your hair more than 2 times. Anything after that you run the risk of burning your hair off. If you are using the revlon honey kit, it should give you the caramel color I think you’re looking for. The blue toner is what is going to give you the “ashy” look since it’s taking out the orange. Ashy and caramel are two completely different hair colors and undertones. Not sure exactly what color you’re going for by mixing them? If anything I’d recommend you bleach and use a blue hair mask and if you want more caramel in your hair then apply the t27.
