- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- Ghostbusters fans have been making replicas of props and costumes from the film for decades. But not many people have taken on building their own Ecto-1 replica. We meet Sean Bishop, who has built a highly-detailed reproduction of the iconic car, both outside and in!

Thanks for watching!
Hey everyone. Sean here. I'm the Chewbacca/Jack Black/Lebowski/Aykroyd/hybrid dude who built the car. I'm glad so many of you like the beautiful "Janine". I saw a few repeated questions so I thought I'd answer them as best I can. Yes the lights work, yes the siren works, (external speakers in the light bars). Yes I have the sniffer, but I never drive on the freeway with it. You can see it laying on it's side in the back in a few shots. I hadn't had a chance to put it up and had no idea I was gonna be on camera, (hence the wind-blown rat's nest of hair). Yes I do have a gurney and yes it's got four working proton packs on it but I took it out so the people at the party could get a good look at the finished interior. It was also a thousand degrees in LA that day. We were all red and ragged out. The Ecto has no AC. ;)
venkman71 thanks for the reply to these questions. Killer work man. Love it!
So you ecto is named "Janine"?
Now that's a familiar username, I think! I think one of the first things I did when getting the Internet in the 90's was look for Ghostbusters III rumors and find Ghostbusters fan sites. Didn't you have some sites/prop sites?
Anyway...
After spending so much time on the small details of the car, and obsessing over all the details, did you ever develop a good theory on just *WHAT* some of that stuff on the roof rack was supposed to really be?
Great car only thing wrong is that it has no grill strobes on it :)
Love how proude and passionate the owners are about there creations.
+
i thought you said Prude and Passionate at first lol
agreed. this guy is great
proud* their*
Anybody *want *a peanut.
I really like this guy. So genuine.
Agreed. It actually gave me goosebumps ^^
Passion is beautiful.
"I may have been the first one to have done it so far, but there will be others. And they'll do wonderful mods on it, it'll be great!"
Sean is an amazing guy, he's so nice and he actually used to own one of the best Back to the future DeLorean time machine's I had ever seen.
+eTech16 he called him Bill at the end, so which is it? Sean or Bill?
Best replica I've ever seen, bar none. Even finding the correct car is a next to impossible task today. Kudos to the builder on a job well done!
Just realized Sean Bishop worked on restoring the BTTF A Car
0:57 - The early 1000's? Holy crap, this guy was like, screw those crusades, I'm going to build me a prop for a movie that's going to be all the rage some 9 and three quarters century from now!
he did actually say 2000s
Didn't know there were any more of these rare coaches left to make into replicas
Looks awesome!! Missing a few bits on the roof and the fins don't look the right colour, but always loving an Ecto replica!!!
Also nice van from jurrasic park! But Real Star is Ecto 1 ofc...
There was a time I used to sneak on Sony lot and smoke J's releasing spirits in both echo 1 and echo 2 real cars but that was about 15-20 years
All I wanted to hear and see was the sirens. : (
Didnt we all. There was just something about Ecto 1's siren that added to Ghostbusters 1
Same!!! Besides the car and it's decals and interior gadgets, the most pronounced thing was the siren!!
Even the one in Burnout Paradise had the siren
That's not the real siren though. The real siren (in the movie) was just added in post-production.
that film is a pack of lies, some of the ghosts are fake too.
ahh that times when i was 12 and my older brother took to the cinema on ghost busters
Oh, look! The REAL Ecto-1.
The only Ecto-1
The Infamous Cloaker Videos Amen.
+The Infamous Cloaker “Zokorar” Videos what about ecto1 a?
Oh, look! A real prick.
+6102livesipmurt Thanks for drawing attention to yourself. You are so mundane, we would never have noticed you.
awesome job Shawn.
Mick Foley (Mankind) has joined the Ghostbusters!
the one thing we all want... the siren! WAHHHH WAHHHHH WAHHHH WAHHHH... haha
it needs the retractable proton pack carriage from GB2. but then I wonder would the instruments in the back be "accessible"? either way! his instruments are artistic interpretation and the pack carriage is cannon! all that said, seriously that is a very cool ride!!
way to go Sean! beautiful car!
Ok, this guy is the human Chewbacca. I can't be the only one that sees it.
Ecto 1 awesome now I like ghostbusters they are awesome
Well done
"it's a cadeelaacck"
- the black one from the new GB movie.
I think it's better than the original one
Awesome, but no ecto-1 siren test?!
So jealous!!!
cameraman is awful, no clue how to keep the camera steady.
Sentence is awful, no clue how to make a point.
+Alex T reply is awful, no clue how to defend channel.
+Alex T Na didn't remove it. Don't try and lie kid.
It's been a trend for quite sometime this trembling camera thing. First time I noticed was probably with Spielberg's "Saving Private Ryan." Then it really caught on even on TV shows like 24. Funny thing the exact opposite (ie be as steady as possible even on movement) was the norm.
+jack sam I'm not a kid... and I didn't see it but now I do. It'd be pretty stupid to lie about something right in front of us. Even stupider to assume someone would do that, kid.
i did notice one thing this car is missing. the 2 white strobes that go in front of the top grill
Also missing the sniffer on the roof rack.
@@imranbecks and the chrome trim under the doors
Love ghostbusters all 3
But there are only 2
+The Reaper ghostbusters 1&2 in 80's and the third is the new one.
Laura Stewart
New one? What is this new one you speak of?
I wanted to hear the siren!
OMG i want it soooooo bad
sweet ride but did the car not have amber and green lights on top ?
This is the Ecto 1 from the first movie. The Ecto 1A in the second movie had different light bars and more equipment in the roof rack.
The sniffer is missing....
No siren test????
The siren used in the movie was a sound effect done in post-production. No real-world siren has that unique sound. A lot of Ecto-1 owners use an MP3 and pipe the sound in through hidden speakers in the front grille, usually.
Wow, i had no idea!
Cool g
Sean is starting to look a bit like "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan
I was just thinking nobody does the interior, show the interior! Would have liked to have seen the front seat and dash.
Yeah we don't see it in the movie.
+diator2 didn't you watch the video? The guy and his friend were able to take photos of the entire original prop.
nope
+diator2 watch it before you say something.
Its not like the front of the car is a state secret or anything super important.
Wow, this guy is genuine - ghostbusters was one of my favorites growing up and this thing is badass - same enthusiasm that Dan Aykroyd had when he came in with the old ambulance in the original film
First like and comment in 4 years 2020?
YEAH GHOSTBUSTERS IS ASWOME
Lol the Pizza Planet truck and the Jurassic Park SUV
What the hell is the camera man doing, does he need to pee or what's with the constant moving around? This can't be Joey, right?
And the black, empty part at the end.
been sippin the spiked punch
All this shakey-cam stuff drives me up the wall because it's in EVERYTHING now. Get a tripod or steadicam.
Came here to say this... haha. It was a rough camera experience. Maybe they were too busy looking at how gorgeous the car was? haha
They could use a MoVI M10
and he didnt turn on the sirens?! awe
Right?!
Is this the dude I know?
Funny finding your here Mr. Pollock. hahaha
Disney Infinity Codes HaHa! Yeah, I'm a Tested loyalist!
Totally waited for that to happen....
He put down a ~$10k bid and forgot about it... Wow, must be loaded
I'm very glad that for the second time ...
*NORM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE EXISTENCE OF THE*
*SHITTY GHOSTBUSTERS 2016 MOVIE*
Keep it up Norm.
he was lucky enough to get reference photos from the original car. This is got to be the most spot-on replicas on the road. it looks awesome
It's an awful feeling when you don't know if "Ghostbusters" means the awesome original, or the absolutely terrible reboot
digging the Jurassic park explorer and toy story truck in the back ground..
Awesome stuff, Sean!
Ya I was like: Woah
Probably needed some suspension work and shocks. Brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear-end. Also new rings, mufflers, a little wiring...
ugh the new Ghostbusters SUCKED
This guy should cosplay as The Dude.
Wow you guys are using some great mics! It picks up ambient noise so well! (Sarcasm)
Wow he even sounds like Dan Aykroyd!
now THIS is mother fucking ghost busters!!!!
Nice to see a builder without a toupe, or combover hair for a change........
Way too short video again... I wanna see it in action, with lights going and more technical details! :(
You weren't just driving south on I-49 through Fayetteville, AR on Wed, May 8, 2019, towing this behind a Prevost motorcoach, were you?
If there's something broken, and it don't look good... who're gonna call? The other Ecto1 guys!
Just saw the ghosthead documentary on Netflix and was amazed by the effort the community put into their stuff. Love replicas of movie cars, and this one is a beauty!
Had a Ghostbusters day yesterday with the two movies and a few hours of the Ghostbusters: The Video Game from 2009, haven't seen those movies in like 10 years so it was nice to see that at least one of them stood the test of time, the game is great too, way more interesting than the second movie for sure.
Having just seen the movies it is really cool to see a replica up close like this, that said where's the proton pack rack?
I love the passion these guys have. ducking contagious. . why won't my phone let me swear?!?!!?!?!?
wait...he didnt pay someone to build it like the "somebody" Delorean video. Great video MUCH better than Mr. Delorean
Epic car, cool guy. I'm a lil bit jelly. Wish I had a Miller Meteor, Ecto'd or otherwise.
Couple other vehicles in that lot I'd like to see lol Jurassic park SUV toy story truck in the background
"Early 2000's, internet was budding..." Fricking kids these days...
what happend to the martian build?
I never noticed how HUGE that car model was :|
uuaaaa - uuaaaa
What a absolutly amazing Vehicle. I love Movie-Cars
Thank you for doing a piece on Sean's Ecto! I've known him for about 4 years on Facebook, he is a really fantastic guy to talk with.
💚
is that a pizza planet delivery truck in the background :o
You know this guy loves this car because he said he wanted to see what others would do differently.
awesome replica, one thing I was hoping to hear and see is the lights and sirens but that is probably the kid in me wanting it.
It is missing the roof dish witb the two red tubes coming off it and the micro white strobe light on the front bumper.
I wonder if this is the same one always parked at the caddilac repair shop in Santa Monica.
Thanks to Sean Bishop for building the Ecto-1 and helping restore the BTTF "A" car! One thing to note though is that it is missing the red double barrel turret thingy on the roof rack.
The weird part is how much the builder sounds like Ackroyd!
So it's a........replicar?
I'm sorry. I will see myself out now.
Less than 10 gs for the exact car witch is extremely rare is bonkers!
Stop at 0:05 and just check out the actual size of the car. I can well believe the figure quoted by 5th Gear as 20 feet long.
Or are Norm and Sean both short arses? Maybe it is a little of both?
Hi. Fellow Ectomobile owner here, and friend of Sean's. The actual dimensions are 21 feet long, 7.5 feet wide ( 8 feet when you factor in the ladder and blue hoses on either side of the car ) and it's 7.5 feet to the top of the roof rack. ( Nine feet if you don't remove the weather antennae and guns. ) Weights can vary depending on your car's loadout. A good average is 7,200 lbs.
hes also one of the guys that help to restore the original A car delorean time machine
I wonder what this guy thinks about the new movie...
They did say "The first one!"
I like this guy, just seems like a happy & cool dude.
He's missing the red tubes on top though lol and no gurney lol.
what a cool interesting guy thanks norm
THIS IS INSANE!!!!!! I think I seen this same Ecto-1 at the Philadelphia Auto Show not long ago. If so, that was the same guy beside it. Cool!! Great work man. WOW
Very cool. Does he know he's missing the sniffer?
Funny now it's the same Ecto in the Wal-mart ads
As A guy that loves to restore classic cars (owning 3) and an extreme lover of Ghostbusters, I really want to build an Ecto-1 or 1A. I NEED to snag one of these before they're all gone or overpriced.
the Echo 1 looks really great it needs one thing Ghostbusters pack rack in the inside
agree, I was wondering why that wasn't there
In fact, that's what I always fathomed many of the interior instruments were for; calibrating and field maintenance of the proton packs and other gear. I also thought they might have a mini containment system for offloading ghosts from the traps if they're catching a lot.
Building just one proton pack would be incredibly hard
+davis magee he normally has the rack with 4 proton packs for it, I was wondering why he didn't have them there either.
Maybe for this guy due to his insane eye for detail but there's plenty of various kits out there.
Wow what a cool replica, thanks for putting in all those man hours to make this so authentic. I'm a BIG Ghostbusters Fan and this brought back so many memories of
seeing the first film in 84. Who Ya Gonna Call? This guy ;)
Wow! That replica of the ecto 1 is AWESOME!
Michael J. Fox operating the camera?
am I going to hell for laughing at this?
4000th like
why dont you show the new ecto-1!.......................please dont! haha
My neighbor built one of these a while back
How did they not fire up the sirens? :(
Dan Akroied has Ecto One. Its on Jay Lenos channel.
I was just looking at videos of ecto1 replicas yesterday! Crazy coincidence! :) ty tested!
Wonderful, just a lovely job on the replica, kudos to Bill! The only thing I see he could add to it is to see if the backpacks and gear they used fit in there.
I remember seeing that car on eBay and when he won it!
Who would of thought Jack blacks brother is into Ghostbusters!
LOL
Two-Face looks and sounds like him doesn't he 😊
The Dude and Jack Black's love baby!
