@@Puretea4711It's not overpriced, it's just expensive. Those two words are not interchangeable. Knowing the amount of work that goes into this stuff, and the limited creation run, it's a high-end collectible, not something you'll find on a Walmart shelf. I'll never own one, but that still doesn't mean it's overpriced, it just means it's priced out of my range.
I can’t imagine how deservedly proud whoever makes these replicas would be watching Adam and Norm unbox this, and their constant geeking out over the small details that really make it stand out 🙂
The gunner seat felt like a nod to the old cartoon with all the crazy gadgets, loved that addition. And it makes total sense from a "if this were a real world with problems to solve" perspective, since the original crew would have absolutely encountered fast ghosts they couldn't chase on foot.
Both builds are amazing, but the level of weathering detail, plus all the additional goodies like the gunner’s chair, the light up proton pack, the rover with the launch bay are just phenomenal. Love the enthusiasm of the two of you!
This entire series on Ghostbusters is awesome 👊 When I was living near Detroit the Ecto-1 and the Original Batmobile were on display at the Henry Ford Museum. They had the velvet rope barriers around both and signs saying do not touch. Couldn't help myself, I had to. Both way too cool to not have.
You and me both. I can hear the conversation now: Wife: "and just how much did this cost us?" Me" "only a couple hundred dollars (for the next 36 months) LOL
I love the contrast between the original being clean and the Afterlife being weathered. Shows off the amazing work that was done on the new one to weather it.
I grew up watching the first Ghostbusters movie and wasn't much a fan but seeing all the videos and how exciting you two are getting I can see the passion and love for Ghostbusters
NORM!!! Yeah every time sorry, I grew up w Cheers. I just rewatched the proton pack build! So cool to see BOTH Adam and Norm on the set during shooting!
The editing on this was much better than usual for these show and tells. it actually looked like proper attention was paid to use b-roll of the the details Adam and Norm are gushing over.
As a long time fan of the Ghostbusters franchise this has been a great experience to watch you guys go through the process of putting it together. I was interested in getting one myself but I was disappointed not to see the LED Blue DISPLAY ON the roof that displays “we’re back!!” I’m sure that is possible to be made. I would definitely love to have one for myself but I obviously that they are all gone by now. Great video once again though Adam!!
HAHA!!! I love that THIS Ecto is a "semi" 3-way, as the gunner chair door is a suicide door like the 3-way ambu/hearses!!.......but driver side is regular door configuration....somehow, I missed that the driver door was "normal in the Afterlife movie. Beautiful 1/6th unit though!!!...Watching Adam flip out at ALL the details was cool as hell!! Oh.....NEVER pinch the hose...
Not a big Ghostbusters fan but watching the excitement behind the scenes made me want to see the new film. Got to see it at my local 1910s theater, got that old school theater thing going plus we just got surround sound mid last year (and we even managed to do it in a creative way to not hinder the aesthetic). The movie was fantastic, it was exciting to see the phonograph and the ice sculptures!
@Adam What became of your other subscription Ecto-2 build? I know it stopped under Eaglemoss, but was picked up by Fan Home. I enjoyed watching your build and weather it.
Missed out on the clean Ecto-1 but this one has sooo much character and the movies featuring this version were so much fun to watch! Just placed an order!
Badge ideas: CA gluing your fingers together Fingerprint in fresh paint Lost 10mm Socket Sawdust in eyes Inhaling paint fumes when you should have worn a mask Moving a project before the epoxy has set and you break it Breaking a 3D print while removing supports
This is SO cool. I only wish that Bill Murray was there to add color commentary about how nerdy this whole thing truly is.❤️ I bet Aykroyd would also nerd out really hard over this. How fun would That be?!
Dear Lord that's a beautiful piece of art. Good thing is that you'll never have to dust it. Makes it look more authentic LOL Just looked up buying this and it's $1900 and 4 feet long. I think I'll enjoy seeing it on this video! LOL
The ECTO-1 reminds me so much of a storm chasing vehicle that you'd see in a Weather Channel documentary or something. It has _so many_ sensors, lights, antennas, cameras, tanks, and just _stuff_ on it. It is _so_ cool and it screams DIY. It is so, so cool.
Marvelous unboxing, I have the Lego version which obviously isn't as big, has no lights with stickers for the rust patches but in every other sense it's the same... from the gunner seat that pushes out via a panel on the opposite side to the RV trap and drop down release and as you said about the size compared to the Delorean the Lego variant is the same Ecto dwarfs it. The weathering on that model is insanely beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Did you guys edit out the noise from the rotating lights on the original Ecto? Every review I have seen the mortors grind fairly loudly (mine included)? I was wondering about this in the original unboxing video as well. Love these videos. These cars are a work of art.
Nothing better than oils washes and sponge chipping n rusting! I'm an armour modeller this is the type of thing I do daily love to create realistic weathered vehicles burnt umber over the non varnished white paint looks great
Nothing strange about it; The clean one looks more like a toy (even if it is accurate). The incredible details in the weathering takes it to a museum piece! 👌
I've got both of the Hot wheels 1/18 ecto's and you need space for them. 1 of my pet cats had a penchant for chewing on the antennas from the cars, so they're a bit chewed. There's a full sized rustied version of this vehicle out in Australia and you get a view of it in a show MCM Mighty car mods on the show put on UA-cam late last night.
I was at my neighborhood Target a couple of days ago and in the toy section saw some Ghostbusters toys. Among them were Hasbro's attempts at reissuing Kenner's old Real Ghostbusters stuff from the late 80s/early 90s, including action figures of the team with the "stretchy mouths" when you handle the arms and such, but the standout on the shelves was the Ecto-1. I looked a little closer at it and it turned out that it wasn't a recreation of the Real Ghostbusters Ecto-1, but _had the gunner seat_ and was the Afterlife/Frozen Empire Ecto-1 instead with a paint job and decals to simulate the rest of the Real Ghostbusters line. We never had the Ecto-1 as kids, Real Ghostbusters or live-action Ghostbusters, only the "Ecto-3" (some roll-cage looking fly-swatter-like grabber vehicle), so I'm considering getting one anyways just to appease my inner child since it's under $30.
The fact that the lightbars have proper servos in them to make them rotate rather than just using LED's is utterly insane of a detail. GG Blitzway. No wonder it costs almost 2k
Adam, weren't you building an Ecto-1 as a part of a subscription mail type service? I remember you getting new parts in and working on it everyone once in a while ...
That's incredible work. Given the size and cost though I just can't imagine there is anywhere close to enough market for this sort of thing to fund development and production.
So, let me get this straight…. They go to such great lengths to detail it to that level, and it doesn’t have the Ghostbusters siren? Wow……. Kind of dropped the ball on that one. 21:14
Yeah it looks great alright man you're right where would the average person put that it's not an easy piece to display but it it also it must be nice to just have things given to you Adam because you're Adam.
Amazing! My only baby nitpick would be that the headlights should be closer to yellow than the cool blue LEDs they used, and the whitewalls were a lot more yellowed in the films, but those things would probably be easy enough to remedy

Awfully nice of them to do that. Did they ask you not to play any of the sound effects or risk copyright infringement? 🔊🦮

Adam "I always read the manual" Norm "Does he thou?" and that look of a good friend. Well played.
Skimming is a form or Reading. lol
Norm more like a pet like that kid from Indiana Jones
I was so confused reading your comment at first lol. I thought “who is Adam Norm?” 🙂

ROFLMAO
PS I love that your comment said “thou,” and not “though.” I don’t mean that sarcastically, I was legit disappointed when Norm just said “though.” 😊

What's his name? Any post about it on Instagram?

@@STormnNormn2027 thanks bro, you can tell people involved on set loved the Ghostbusters lore
Please tell your friend he did a banging job, so much love and details in it
Adam is living the dream!!
Lots of hard work to get there though, I appreciate his talents and dedication.
But does he need to get these sent to him for FREE?!
O man now I want to see a 1/6 scale garage for all of your pop culture cars
That would be awesome!
Add some Phicen figures for added realism!

In case you're wondering. The roof rack ladder was moved to the other side in order to make room for the new gunner seat door.
As soon as I saw both cars side by side, I noticed that and had to look it up. It makes sense!
2 stunning pieces, very jealous
i have the blitzway 1/3 dark knight joker, such amazing detail
I prefer the 1984 Ecto. It's clean and beautiful.
Great video as always.
These Ghostbusters related videos have been fantastic.
When Adam filmed this video he never went home. He set up a comfy chair and a 6-pack......and just stared at his new Ecto-1 all night.
If I brought a 1/6 car home I'm pretty sure I would be single again before dinner.

I love the genuine excitement these two shared while opening and examining this. Truly, these guys are still kids at heart. Love it!!
*chuckles* It's Christmas morning all over again for these two. :D
Holy crap! That looks insane!
Amazing! The seatbelts on the gunner chair is crazy.
It blows my mind that Adam is just casually friends with Jason Reitman
I love the contrast between the original being clean and the Afterlife being weathered. Shows off the amazing work that was done on the new one to weather it.
Had no idea this was a thing, beautiful!! They'll never do an Ecto 1A but I would buy it in an instant.
They did an ecto-1a, but is long out of production. They're around 4k on eBay.
Just the way the door latched when Adam closed the door shows the level of detail invested in this model. Fantastic!
I grew up watching the first Ghostbusters movie and wasn't much a fan but seeing all the videos and how exciting you two are getting I can see the passion and love for Ghostbusters
Ecto 1A (GB2) was always my fave with all the extra stuff on top etc
Awesome ecto1. I’m 3/4 finished with my fanhome ecto build so watching this one is super exciting. Great idea on light adding for proton packs!
Always fun to watch these two geek out over these things!
"I always read the manual!"
* immediately forgets to read the manual *
The sentence was true, but incomplete. It was missing the "… _after_ I screw up, so I can tell what I did wrong," part.
Unbox.
Assemble.
Admire.
Read manual at convenient time (to be determined later)
