Check out UA-cam for First time watching videos of people watching Ghostbusters for the first time. It's almost like seeing it again for the first time.
Seeing him move this toy around reminds me of the ghostbusters car my grandmother bought me in the late 80s when I was just a few years old. She died shortly after, and I remember holding this toy next to the tire swing in her front yard while the ambulance drove away. I was crying. I remember the sound of my tears on Ecto-1 as they took her. There are tears flowing from my eyes right now because this is BEAUTIFUL. God Bless.
Fun fact: The movie is older now than the Ecto-1 was in 1984. The 1959 Cadillac the Ecto-1 is built from was only 25-years old when the movie came out. An similarly aged vehicle today would be a 1998 model.
My grandfather was a supervisor at Miller-Meteor in Bellefontaine, Ohio and would have been there when the 2 that were purchased for the film were built :)
Adam i love how you get so excited about weathering new shiny things. You seem to see the modeling world through an eye of “what can be made more realistic”. You are an artist among builders, please know that you are looked up to and admired!
As a lifelong Ghostbusters fan (favorite movie), the reverence, giddiness, and sheer enjoyment Adam's expressing is *everything* to me - I'd be reacting the same exact way should I have this in my possession and were unboxing it. Thank you for allowing me to feel validated by enjoying this vicariously though you, Adam.
I love Adam's joy and enthusiasm with this Ecto-1, but he almost gave me a heart attack when I thought he was about to push the roof part onto the floor! Beautiful 1/6 replica!
Actually I am glad there is an MP3 player because no eee errrr eee errrr siren would have been a huge miss. Glad to see Blizway put some thought to that. BBTS has never let me down. Good stuff
Yeah, I don't think it's mission creep. They probably wanted to include sounds from the movie (maybe the theme song), but licensing was difficult/expensive. Easy enough to find that online and load onto an SD card yourself.
Yes. At 5.30. As soon as Adam put the top equipment on the edge of the table, I was waiting for it to get knocked off! Luckily the crew were one step ahead also! hehe
They are cool when they work. Mine on my Ecto-1 stopped and didn't work half the time when I first got it. You can see they finally started spinning after Adam shut the door a little hard. It's a known issue and for the price they should work better than that.
This model is absolutely amazing. I followed the BBTS link and was completely and utterly stunned by the low asking price for the newer version. How they can produce such detail and sell for such a low cost is mind blowing. (to say the least).
Wow Blitzway really blew this one out of the water with so much details on such a compact version of the Ghost Buster mobile. Everything is on point and very impressive. Just amazing looking piece. Thank you for doing this unboxing and sharing it with us. Congrats on your new Hot Toys project.
40 years of retail and big expensive boxes, and never anything boxed as well as that! The box design was beautiful. Like dreaming of models on boxes as a kid!
When I received my Exoto 1/10th scale Ford GT40 MkII, the packaging was quite similar. Double-boxed; inner foam clam shells; and velcro straps. Also, the model was held in place by two thick, wide U-shaped plastic forms that grabbed the model completely around the passenger cabin only, with soft material between them. The two plastic forms snapped together, and tightly indexed into slots inside the foam clam shells. In other words, the model was _suspended_ inside the box!
I love how the emergency lights on top realistically spin in circles like the real vehicle 😊👍🏻 Other police model cars would have blinking lights but I’m very impressed with this model even with the sounds of the doors shutting and the hood lol . 10/10
Wow the detail of that cars build is magnificent from front to back and the working parts and electronics are so awesome. It's an awesome piece my man.
The engine compartment detail is stunning, not a kit that I could display in my house but would be ideal in a private auto collection as a conversation piece.
The commitment to imitating the ‘natural linear grace’ of incandescence with LED lighting and motors is heart warming and it lends so much extra reality to the piece. Beautiful.
I'm sure Adam has a master's feel for exactly how much different materials can endure before breaking. But I get anxious watching how non-chalantly and violently these things are handled. Which is actually funny considering how much Adam obviously loves these things.
I mean isnt that kinda his style tho, non chalant, and if something falls and breaks, it just gives it more character when he fixes it and puts his own flare on the repair job.
I swore he was going to snap off the hood or break the hinges when it didn't retract properly the first time. Adam can be very careless sometimes, it's a pet peeve of mine.
Holy shit this models just too much! 🤯 I'm blown away! The sound of the doors closing😳 WTF!! The lights, motor suspension, everythings so detailed.. so cool. Love it!
The amount of detail on the underside shows that they cared about the project. No one will see that when displayed but man did they put effort in it anyways =o
Easy enough to build a display stand with a mirror base so that it can be displayed in all its glory. They display cars that way in car shows all the time.
I feel the excitement that you show when unboxing this. When you lifted it up and made the Catalytic Converter joke, I busted out laughing because I thought the same thing.
In 1982 I drove a real Cadillac ambulance like that as an EMT. We used it on real calls. They were actually made illegal to use that's why you don't see them anymore. It was very difficult to function in the back once the stretcher was in. Thomas Dutkiewicz.
Wow. I had to type that out… The pieces that you have been unboxing have been amazing. I am enjoying every minute of it, without getting into trouble with the Mrs. for filling our home with so many of these great items.
My kid screamed watching you unbox this. Such a beautiful piece! I told him to start saving his money. My three-year-old is now saving for his "dream 1-Ecto" (what he calls it).
the detail is outstanding in the early 70's I built model cars often and they never had detail like this best they had was a clipper ship my sister got me for christmas one year, like 3 ft long, forget the scale but it took day and days to assemble and it was so detailed
Eaglemoss went bankrupt. Fortunately, the rights were bought out and Fanhome is now the distributor but they are taking a while to get started. So that build it going to be on hold until Fanhome are tooled up for their continuation of that build.
I'm impressed. It's really big and very realistic like the original. I have a model from lego 10274, it is also big for bricks. This car, however, broke the system and I would love to collect it. The only problem is the price. $2990 is a lot of money to me. It's good that Adam showed him in the movie and I could see him. Hello everyone.
I'm not a Ghostbusters fan but I thought it was a good movie. But as a model builder myself I am amazed at the depth of detail in this model. I can see why Adam was like a kid receiving a new toy for Christmas.
wish we could have seen it without light on in room.. magical seeing that in dark low light room with blue and flashing lights.. magical moments to be had
The casting and molding looks really well done. I loathe when they get the scale wrong or you get stress lines when they are ejected from the molds. If it's a model kit and you are going to paint over, then you can deal with it but not when it's a finished item.
Beautifully detailed, and the vehicle is definitely needs it's own display case or table. I like the One-man Cot as the stretcher, it reminds me of the one I use at work.
This is freakin amazing and brings back some awesome memories. This would have blown my 10 year old mind lol. Kinda disappointed there isn't the sound of the sirens. But all in all... so freakin cool. You're a lucky man Adam
Adam, I'm sure someone has already commented on this but I don't want to go through two thousand comments to find it. Definitely, radio contol would put this in a unique class.
As a kid of the 1980s who watched the Real Ghostbusters every day before school, this would be an absolute dream to have in my house. The only problem is if I spent $3,000 on a toy my wife would want to spend $3,000 on something too, which means I'm actually out $6,000 if I bought this!
This looks like an amazing replica. The only real let down for me is the wire routing. With as much attention to detail as was given to everything else (and as much space as they should have had in something this big), I feel they could have done a much better job.
Couldn't agree with you more. For a nearly $2K initial release MSRP, they're clearly banking on the size and all the toylike electrical to veto the lack of true-to-scale details on a car this big - hoping that things omitted or lacking won't matter in the overall appeal factor. LED lighting / animation packages provide a lot of perceived value but are actually incredibly cheap to mass-produce and implement once prototyped. Since similarly large, real high quality 1/8 scale (slightly smaller) actual die-cast collector vehicles with super detailing by a company like Amalgam can cost $13-26,000, I wouldn't expect museum detail on the ECTO 1. However, they could have done a better job than they did with the actual '59 Cadillac Miller Meteor that the ECTO 1 is based on, for the $1900 price tag they put on it, rather than relying on the "cool factor" of the animations.
So does unboxing this remind you, that you still have an ECTO-1 model to finish building? Haven’t seen the kit being worked on in awhile. Would love to see you finish it.
If i remember correctly, that is a kit that comes out once in a while? So you have to collect all the sub-kits to have the whole lot. He also mentioned that he also works on the kit when he has time. So maybe hé has to wait on the next parts. Or we have to wait for when he has the time.
If Adam got his kit from Eaglemoss, that company went bust and stopped shipping kits out without warning. I was curious whether Adam ever addressed it?
I remember seeing the original Ghostbusters back when I was a kid on VHS. If you don't know what VHS tapes were look it up😊 I really enjoyed the horror/ comedy films of the 80s and was very glad they captured that balance perfectly with Ghostbusters Afterlife. Definitely a great service to the fans. Too bad we had to endure the terrible 2016 film. Let's just pretend it never happened. RIP to Harold Ramis ❤
Looks like the 1:6 scale Ecto 1 that Eaglemoss released in parts with their Ghostbusters magazine. I think the total cost was $1200, but was discontinued much to the outcry of those who started collecting late.
I died when he said "Aziz! LIGHT!!" I use this quote all the time especially when i was a contractor and had an apprentice who would hold the torch. Quote is from The Mummy and no one.. NO ONE ever knew what i was on about! So good!!
Please let us know if and when you get the action figures to complete the Ecto-1 and post a video of the full setup if you haven't already. Thanks for the awesome video, the Ecto-1 in it's self is amazing.
It’s interesting how the high end model market tends to follow a certain age range considering the price. I wonder when we’ll get models of this caliber from my childhood. (90’s/00’s)
18:20 the lower round-ish bezels on back didn't have red lights on the 1959 Cadillac, they were red reflectors inside. The bullet lights were the only brake/tail lights. The middle white lens was a backup light. Did the ecto-1 swap the reflectors for red lights in those bezels?
What an amazing ECTO-1! Do you think it's better to have a fully assembled model or the excitement of putting together unassembled parts? Thank you, Adam, for sharing this for those of us who don't have the means to have one.
Thank you to the hand of god saving the roof rack! I though for sure it was taking a bit of a trip to the floor when Adam in his fog pushed the box towards the camera! I was so focused on it that I had to rewatch the video 😊thank you as usual! One of My favorite movies is the fifth Element!
What? The lights spin on top in the the front? I have the smaller Dicast collectors version of this. I want to wire it up to get the lights working. Cool.

Now we just need a one day build from Adam where he weathers this himself and adds a sound pack to make the noises from the film!
The off camera squeals of child like joy keeps cracking me up, I'd feel the same
This is incredible!
I actually just got one that's a huge 1:1 scale... it's currently leaking oil in my garage
What? No siren??
The door closing sounds.
Those sound like an actual old car door closing, just in miniature. That is *INCREDIBLE* attention to detail.
i thought the same! i thought, even the doors feel authentic... mind blown.
That's exactly what I thought too. One of my favourite aspects of this model, actually.
I've heard real modern cars that don't sound that good when you close the doors.
As soon as he shut one of the doors I was like "Holy crap,it sounds like a heavy car door!"
If I spent 3k on a model car I'd want the doors to sound that good too
Watched Ghostbusters last night for the first time in 20 years or something. What a coincidence. The movie still holds up, it's so good.

One simply has to love how a seasoned man can be happy like a child :)
i worked in offset printing for 10 years. i always love that adam appreciates the printing and boxes lol
Would love to see Adam build the Eaglemoss/Fanhome/Agora etc. kit version... I'm curious how they'd compare detail-wise.
Do they make pickup trucks like that size? Also what material is it made from? Awesome video!
Pretty cool,I'td be nice to see a 2nd video of the figures being put inside with all that detail you might as well go all the way with it right
Cool ecto 1 Ghostbusters! A giant vehicle scale model, nice! Thanks for showing it.
What an amazing ECTO-1! Do you think it's better to have a fully assembled model or the excitement of putting together unassembled parts? Thank you, Adam, for sharing this for those of us who don't have the means to have one.
It's awesome that Adam uses the instructions
I would TOTALLY display that box on my wall! So cool!!!
You are just amazing! So fun to watch!
thats the Egalemoss car the same Eaglemoss that went out of business ... wondering how you got a built version of a monthly build model
man, i was in shock to see the rooftop part getting closer and closer to the edge of the table! but safed by the crew ^^
What all that detail and no siren?! How can you leave out the most iconic thing about ecto-1
Wow. Now that is a wondrous piece. Just superb.
This brings back so many great memories of the movie. I love that car. Can't wait to see what you do to this car. Great video and content
What? The lights spin on top in the the front? I have the smaller Dicast collectors version of this. I want to wire it up to get the lights working. Cool.
Does it have the siren? And I think one of the lights wasn't working on the front bumper??
I would like to see a heavy weathering an chipping on that!
It would make it more screen accurate and unique!
