also keep in mind that adults can be groomed but not exactly in same way as children, more so as in gaining trust for letting their children be in their hands and diverting them from abusive behavior under the guise of it not being harmful basically. idk if that makes exact sense

I love that you pointed out that regardless of intent what she's been doing is inapropiate, and her failing to show compassion towards the victims that suffered at her hands, be it maliciously or not, in itself puts her in the wrong here.
Many people speaking on the topic focus on the actions, specific texts, events, trying to prove that they were 'that bad', but the overarching motif here is her not caring and refusing to learn to care about people around her and how she affects them. No, it does not make her a crazed pedophile, but it does betray her lack of empathy towards others, which is, as the kids put it, 'just not a good look'.
(edit) to clarify, read the comment below 👇🏻

@@savadel1912 no, obviously I don't deny that what she's been doing is bad, but at the same time it is true (seemingly) that her grooming did not have a specific goal of sexually exploiting minors, nor that she is in fact a pedophile. You don't have to be one to treat children badly or to be inappropriate or to traumatise them.
When every inappropriate interaction with minors is labeled as pedophilia it is easy for those who do not see anything wrong with that behaviour to dismiss the allegation all together. Not that we should ponder in our analysis to people with such views, but it does seem to be a generalisation that does not help eliviate their ignorance.
And same goes for victims of such grooming - if you tell a fan of somebody like that, who are still under their spell, that they were groomed and that their idol is a pedophile - they will say no, they are not, they did non sexually assault me nor tried to, so what she says is true and it's all drama and false accusations. Not because it is so, but because they do not know better, and they are being told something that does not ring true to their experience.

If someone bullied a person when they were kids, and then met that person later and was like "but does it matter - I just didn't know any better, haha, let's sing a song about it!". @@ireallyreallyhategoogle same, it's a bit sad that she took this route instead of... weirdly apologizing again? I still can't wrap my head, what can she do, she did apologized, she did stop doing all the grooming and stuffs, she stopped being a "bad" person and focuses on her vlog and her tour although as Miranda, she clearly did thinking about to stop doing Miranda at all because we all know all the joke the original youtuber make are all bad now. And I'm still thinking about Jenna, the point is different, but it feels like all of the young fans of the original youtuber, are now "coming out" of how shitty the joke that made them laugh and now in therapy wants to cancel them because the joke originates from them, as if the same joke weren't told by some of their own parents, by some people living in the same time as the original youtuber... and I love Anna, but man, is she even safe from any accusation too, does anybody? We don't really need to be an innocent being to judge others, but when would it be the time to reflect about our past mistakes and how to make an amend for it. I know if I'm in her shoes, I would never make a ukulele song, but she did apologized and try to be better, but if that is still not enough and that make my mind breaks, perhaps I should just be the villain everybody portrays me to be. It made one thing clear, I would never put myself my whole person in the internet, but rather make a mask so it's easier to discard. I only recently learned about parentification -- and I've been a psych nerd and med nerd for over 30 years, so I can only imagine that a lot of people out there aren't getting exposed to the concept and it isn't talked about enough! Learning about it absolutely CHANGED MY LIFE. I was already doing tons of great valuable self-work, but understanding my own parentification and its myriad impacts caused me to connect SOOOOOOO MANY DOTS about my mind/behavior that I'd never connected before. I really hope more people spread awareness of this topic, because many people who've been emotionally and/or instrumentally parentified would gain a ton of insight from it, and also loads of very well-meaning parents do it and have no idea that it's harmful and would stop if they knew more about it.
(In my case a lot of it was out of legitimate survival necessity, and I have no resentment -- but we can still learn a lot from embracing that mistakes happen without necessarily blaming the person who did or is doing them, even if that person is ourselves. Hugs to anyone out there who's about to dive into this topic and see themselves in it, and also hugs to any parents out there who are about to google this and experience guilt. Having an adult you trust and feel comfortable asking about stuff that's kinda taboo to talk about and often involve a lot of confusion and personal feeling, that can be invaluable. It's certainly healthier than just learning about it all from the internet.
But the key is that it has to come from the minor, go at their own pace and only be what they're comfortable with. Which is very clearly not what Colleen did. It seems like she treated the kids as fellow adults, which is very much not right.

The term "narcissist" is getting so overused these days that it's getting diluted to the point of meaninglessness. It's not okay to use diagnoses as adjectives. I propose we normalize using the suffix -oid (meaning "in the shape of") when we're trying to describe something in an adjectival way, so that we can use the most fitting-seeming words without actually overstepping into medical conjecture/armchair diagnosing. There are a LOT of possible clinical explanations for her behavior. Being a narcissist or having NPD are arguably among them, but it's not ANYONE'S place to declare that either diagnosis fits besides a clinician she consults with in-depth herself.
But I think it's totally fine to describe her behavior as "narcissistoid". I just don't think it's okay to declare her a narcissist. Just like how it's not cool to say "Oh I'm like so OCD" as an adjective, it's also not cool to say "narcissist" or "NPD" as an adjective. These terms have specific concrete real meanings, and diluting those meanings is harmful to those who suffer with the disorders and those who are in turn harmed by those individuals.

There are students that I've become very close with and that's exactly why it's so important to hold firm boundaries to keep each student (and yourself) safe! As an adult, you can have meaningful and even personal conversations with teens, but context is everything! Teacher/mentor and student relationships are also very different from celebrity and fan relationships.

We have no idea what these children are internally experiencing OR what their personal lives are like that they were ok with interacting with a 30yr old "loser" in these ways. Colleen definitely has overlooked her position as THE ADULT in this situation. There's some deep inner work she needs to do before continuing her content or performances. These types of interactions stay with ppl in their childhood and ripple until THEY have to address them bcz of the issues that arise. *Big breath*

I think it's important that many celebrities (whether if it's UA-cam stars, social media influencers, Hollywood celebrities, etc) should be wary of their fan base, especially to young fans. You can get along well with young fans but do not engage into a personal friendship/relationship. Sooner or later, it will turn out something traumatizing and can lead you to become the villain of the cause. There are some flaws when it comes to parasocial relationships so be mindful when it comes to interacting with your favorite celebrity

When children get groomed, they usually do not have good relationships with other people, which is why they stay and get stuck. You saying this is literally shifting the blame on the children, when the adult in the situation should have not have acted like that in the first place. So please do not say something like that, because it supports the abuser whether you meant it that way or not; additionally it could also hurt someone who recently just got out of grooming. I know she did lots of therapy in the past few years, but surely, she needs to do more regarding all this, so she can self reflect and understand the harm she has done to these kids. I don't think she's a completely bad person but she definitely needs to learn and grow. I don't know if she'll ever come back to UA-cam, but I hope that if she does, it will be after a long break and that she will have done actual work on herself to take accountability. I think we are just starting to understand how deep the parasocial relationships problems can go, with UA-cam and other social medias, we have more access to celebrities than we ever did as children in the 90s- early 2000s, it's easy to feel connected to your favorite creator when it's not real connections.
