Thanks mate! Yeah Tom is like a savant, there’s a reason he always finishes very close to the top at the world championships every year, because he is literally one of the very best in the world right now. We’re pretty lucky to have him here in Oz….. :)
Thanks, yeah it’s a nice river. Tom did much better than I did targeting more dry fly water, the nymphing was not that good but dry fly was fishing pretty well. :)
Good stuff Peachy. Awesome to see you guys on my home water. ( I go above and below where you were in the valley) Personally….Doubly funny to see TJ pull a hook too ( in-house joke! Ask him and mention “guide error on the Golbourn ”😅😅😅). I fished it on the following Sunday evening late….there is some truth about them being more nocturnal after the carnage of commorants swooping in from lake Oberon!!!
@@PeachyFlyFishing managed to nab a couple of those elusive bows just on dark. Fished a run I’d covered really well. And yea, pretty revealing rises late in the day. (I’ll tell you about my session with Tom over a beer one day!…it got ludicrous!! I had a shocker…he was very patient!!! )
Tricky conditions, for sure! The wind is a real pain! VERY Interesting reel, Peachy - some black fishers are using similar too … it freespins until you release the ‘trigger’? Then the drag kicks in?
Thanks Roberta! The reel is a semi-automatic reel, you pull the handle and it reels in about 1 metre of slack line per pull of the trigger, but only slack line, not under any load. The drag is there all the time but it's set light... :)
@@PeachyFlyFishing WOW! Different again! I’ve been looking at the other one that some Blackie fishos are using …. That is cool that it pulls in loose line ….. sort of like mending?
@robertapearce5924 mainly for picking up slack so your line doesn’t get caught around stuff, pretty handy! That reel is a JMC Yoto, you’ll probably find some info on it if you search it up. :)
I have 1.2 klm of that particular river running through my paddocks, the fishing is awesome at sun down. What’s with this Tom bloke, does he walk on water? Who gives a rats arse
Lucky man, it's a beautiful river! Yeah I've had some great evening rise fishing on various stretches over the years, it can be really good for sure. As far as Tom goes, when it comes to fly fishing for trout, yeah he pretty much does walk on water! 🤣 In all seriousness though, he's an awesome angler who has represented Australia at a lot of world championships, and taught a lot of local anglers a lot of good stuff. His youtube channel is "Tom Jarman Fishing", well worth a look. Thanks for watching. :)
U S Marines have a saying better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it same with flyfishing doesn’t make you a better fishermen but improves your chances of success if you know how to use your gear correctly Those 3 blokes are at the top of there game, fly fishing can be a jigsaw puzzle some times if you dont have the right pieces you might as well not even turn up let alone fish, hence you must cover all options to be as successful as these blokes are on a consistent bases. Sounds like you haven’t fly fished before give it a go it’s like golf it can ruin a pleasant walk and most of the day,get it right and you’ll feel like a champion,on top of the world, until next hole or nice looking piece of water where you get skunked.

Thanks mate! Yes it’s definitely good to be prepared, I think after fishing for a while we start to weed out the stuff that we actually use or need, versus the stuff that just takes up space. It’s a fine balance! Thanks for the kind comments. :)
Nice Steve. Sounds like you crammed a lot into that week! We were out butchering everything you guys taught us all weekend. No major injuries.🙂 Great to see Aussie fly creators getting together to do stuff, very enjoyable. Keep 'em coming, mate. Cheers PP
What a great video ! Thanks Steve. Fishing is tough they say … then you watch Tom fish . So good
Haha, yes so true! Thanks mate! :)
Challenging conditions no doubt mate. I enjoyed your edit and it highlighted how talented of an angler Tom is.

Brilliant as always
Ah thanks Ngoc! :)
Thanks heaps Peachy.
That was raw and uncut. A very different video to usual, but great none the less.
Looking forward to the next one.
👌👌👌
Thanks bud! Yeah more of a vlog style this one, something different…. ;)
Nice video thanks Steve- new water to me.
Thanks David! Yes the central west has a different sort of character to it than most of our mainland trout water, some nice spots though! :)
Beautiful water...despite lack of fish pinned.

Thanks mate! Yeah Tom missing fish is not a very common occurence! ;) And yes I think the bigger browns have a tendency to be more nocturnal...

@anthonyclark6118 sounds good mate! 😆
Peachy, The main thing is that you look the finest of fly fishermen 😂
Haha! Well as long as it APPEARS that way then all good! 🤣

Haha! Thanks mate, hopefully not butchering it too badly! 😂
