    Nice video. Brings back memories before Covid when I was Gus’ first ever angler on the drift boat. He still calls me the crash test dummy. A great day out in a great place. Can’t recommend it enough.

      Thanks Simon! Haha, hopefully you didn't crash into too many trees! Yeah it is a great day out, I'd not done drift boating for trout before, only cod. Would definitely do it again. :)

    Great stuff Steve. Enjoyed your piece immensely. Just like you, a pal and I, in recent days had the opportunity to do a similar trip down the same river.
    Funny how different guides have different philosophies.
    That river has some very big, strong fish. We were slapping size 6 grasshopper patterns (size 6 - could you believe that?) hard against the bank and finding ourselves attached to 4 and 5 pound fish - not in the same numbers as you though. I flinched when you spoke of 5X and smaller tippet. We took advice and were using 1x - and needed every bit of it.
    Terrific stuff mate and loved every bit of it; well done. 👍

      Thanks so much mate, glad you enjoyed it! It’s a great river and I think you need to adjust your techniques to the river conditions and flows, sounds like you had a top day! :)

      time of year, river level and other things impact what you use at different times.
      you wouldnt have caught one fish that day with a hopper. Although I agree it is the coolest way to fish.

      Thanks John, glad you enjoyed it! I'm afraid I don't know anything about the boats, but I'm sure if you contact the guide Angus at www.haulflyfishing.com or find him on social media he would be happy to give you the details. :)

    Great video what distance did you cover in the day?

    • @PeachyFlyFishing
      @PeachyFlyFishing  24 дні тому +1

      Thanks mate! I’m not sure on the exact distance, but we launched just below the dam and finished at the old caravan park up above town if that helps. As the river was fairly low we probably didn’t cover as much as you would if it was high and pumping.

      @@PeachyFlyFishing thanks for the reply I’ve just brought a new canoe and keen to explore the snowy area.

      Good stuff! A word of caution though, the Tumut runs very fast when it’s up and is potentially dangerous for the inexperienced - I would strongly advise that you stop in at Tom’s Outdoors or call Angus at Haul Fly Fishing to get some advice on river conditions and safety. Have fun, hope you catch a few! :)

      @ thanks I’ve had a couple of chats with the guys at Tom’s Outdoors already about the situation down there I’m also looking for some pressure waves 🌊 in the area
