October 2020- they changed the design and not for the better! There are no longer welded studs on the Barricade bumper. The new design has the bolts mounted to a plate which slips behind a welded piece on the bumper. These move in slotted holes and fall backwards behind the plate making alignment a biach! Also now have to mount brackets for the fog lights using very small nuts and bolts in challenging locations. This video is very good but just know that putting on the bumper is now as challenging as taking off the old One hint, if you remove the small fascia behind the stock bumper by removing the retains and sliding out to the drivers side (its tight but it comes out) all bolts and connectors are easily accessible.
This is the ONLY relevant comment here. Seems like they paid for alot of "good video v helpful" comments cus this ain't as easy as EVERYONE is saying it is.
CPO, just installed mine yesterday. Your video made it a flawless endeavor (once I got the inner bolts loosened--what a pain). Like you said in the video, the hardest part is getting the stock bumper off. Getting the Barricade Trailforce on was a breeze. Also thanks for showing us that the wiring for the fog lights do not have to be spliced to work, only extended out of the wire loom a little. Please keep up the great work with additional videos. You are very much appreciated.
Put this bumper on last weekend. Install took about 1.5 hours maybe 2 but I have a torn tendon in right elbow so I had to go slow. Bumper looks great! Wife wasn't quite as excited but did like the added protection over stock bumper. Haven't put a winch on yet but for anyone wanting to know the weight made my stock jku drop about 3/16-1/4 inch in fender height.
Thank you for the fantastic video! Informative, well edited. Rarely do I see a quality how-to video without needless chatter. This is exactly the info I wanted and nothing extra. Keep up the good work!
thank you for this vid. just installed the barricade front and rear bumpers on my 2016 JK and your videos were great! I'm not very mechanical minded and it still made the install very easy. great job!
Thanks for the detailed remove/install video. The factory bumper is a real PITA to get off and would have been worse if I hadn't seen this. I would suggest to anyone removing the factory bumper, if you have rust on the nuts and bolts, use WD40 or another penetrating spray. That could have saved both time and effort.
Thank you sir! This was another helpful install-video! Your attention-to-detail throughout this whole process was awesome. Your other video to install the rear bumper was on-point as well. Keep up the great work and I'll see you on the trails!
Thanks for the video and the winch install video, it let me know to install the winch onto the bumper first, saving a lot of otherwise aggravation. Appreciate your videos.
It's a lot easier to use a ratchet on the two nuts on the inside frame rail by the vacuum canister if you remove the upper fascia in front of the grill first. Then you can access the nuts from the top on the outside of the bumper. This Extreme Terrain bumper has design details almost identical to the Restyling Factory bumpers available on Amazon. I noticed better construction details on the latter, and for much less $.
I just finished installing this bumper on my 2016 JKU, it took me 2 hrs. What a pain it was removing the plastic inserts for the wire mold. Removing the 4 (18mil) inner nuts, were also a PITA. The instructions do not mention anything about re-installing the factory brackets. Instructions also mention about cutting and extending the wires, I did what you did and it's a nice fit. The only drilling I did was in the plastic cover. Used a 1 1'2" hole for when I install a winch.
Excellent Video.. I used it as a tutorial for my install yesterday.. Mannnnn.. you were not joking regarding those inside bolts to remove the stock bumper.. Woah
Cpo's thanks for the videos of the barricade front and rear bumper and 9500 lbs barricade winch install it really helped me out!! you video made it pretty easy to install Thanks
Man. love your videos. thanks for doing them. you showed me a lot and saved me trouble. but you brave wearing those sandals. hope you don't hurt your feet!
That bracket for the fog lights was a pain. So I just flip the nut and bolt upside down it was a lot easier to put on than trying to hold the washer and lock washer in the back and get that nut on the bolt.
I just installed my barricade bumper this week, Its a great product. Not that heavy and looks great. Only problem I had, I order the barricade skid plate. once the plate is on and then bumper you cant get to 4 of the bolts. I ended up taking plate off and returning it. I'm going with the Hanson Skid plate. It mounts to the back of bumper bolts.
I just ordered that bumper looks easy to install.good video, looking forward to putting on my 2016 wrangler.u did not mention if it fits my year model . I'm guessing it will fit if nothing has been changed from 2015 to 16.thanks for the video. very informative again thanks
Love my Barricade bumper. However, my driver fog light was way too small for the stock fog light. Had to grind and file everything down to get it to fit.
Thanks for the video just got this bumper did not put it on yet but I did check if the nuts and bolts go on one of the bolts and nuts does stop after few turns I did use my hand no tools not good with this stuff am I in trouble or I should be fine when I use tools and more pressure any advice would be help thanks
Brandon,I couldn't get the bumper on with the skid plate. I checked a bunch of the forums and some people have made it work. They used different ratchetes or some left the 4 inside bolts off. I'm going to use the Hanson skid plate.
The two additional bolts you put on. Didn't see you add them in the video. I assume you thread in after the bumper is on? And then put the nuts on? Thanks again
CPO - Now that you have had the bumpers for roughly 8 months, would you mind doing an update review (finish on the finish of the bumpers, if you are noticing any rusting/bubbling of paint, if you are still happy with the bumper).
Thank you for all of your informative videos! Just wanted to know how the Barricade bumpers are holding so far. I like the look and the price point. Thanks in advance!
I ordered this very bumper a week ago. It will be here in an hour or two. I have a '15 Wrangler Sport. Do I need to do any drilling at all? I just took off the stock bumper. Man, that was tuff!
Great Vid CPO... Let me ask you this... Would you buy this bumper again, and what are some of the pros and cons now that you have had it over a year? Also, did you ever get a set of ratchet wrenches? LOL :D
Great video, planning on installing this bumper tomorrow, looks easy and should be fun. Just out of curiosity, when you cut the wire covering, and there was that blue piece exposed at 10:58 did you grab that from a hardware store? Also, since you cut off all the clips that connected the wire to the stock bumper, did you find that the wires hung kind of "loosely" since they weren't connected somewhere other than behind the fog light? I'm thinking about maybe adding some zipties to keep it clean and snug.
+Camron Kiekintveld The blue section was some plastic wire loom I had on hand. Not required, but you'll end up with a few inches (6-ish if I remember correctly) that is out of the loom when you separate it out. You can add some loom to keep it all protected as stock -- it'll likely be on the passenger side that you really need to add it vs where I put it. The wires weren't really loose because there is just barely enough to reach....but you can certainly zip tie as you find appropriate.
+CPO's Jeep Life Lol, quite alright. I ended up installing it just fine - like you said, you barely even need a video to see how to do it, I just like being absolutely sure on mods before I start taking stuff apart. I also saw your write-up on WranglerForum too so it all worked out nicely! Thanks again!
+EVERYTHING cpo You mentioned it...not an issue with mine (2009). Most aftermarket bumpers require relocation, but there's sufficient clearance with the Barricade
+OVERCLOCK3D - CPO did you have any rubbing or anything I'm running the 1.5 lift from teraflex and the 1.25 wheel spacers I have a 4 door Willys wheeler
The 2 bolts you get that get screwed into from other side...how Hell do you get those in?? The side slot is impossible....i have a stinger bout to put on n dont understand how they go...help please???
+kroakjr Illegally, I think. LOL. You can see what I did in some of my other videos, but I cut out the top and used the fairlead bolts to mount it. If I did it again, I'd just drill a couple of holes in the bumper and just bolt it on.
+Jay Skeetor No, unfortunately. I also have a tow hitch on my JK. There are really two options at present. Remove your existing tow hitch and use the Barricade "unrated" tow hitch...or cut off the Baricade hitch and leave your "rated" tow hitch in place. My understanding is that it's not rated for towing because that requires additional testing and certification of some sort -- you know....rules. They put the hitch on there to support hitch accessories like bike racks and luggage racks. I do know people pull light trailers as well. I'm probably going to install the rear bumper as well, and will have to make this decision soon.
Ben Lux It's actually one in the same w/ eBay brands such as e-auto grilles. Just a generic super oem budget bumper used by a dozen budget companies, poorly made, cheap powder coat that will peel and flaked within a year. You have to take product product reviews of items made by people that sponsor the UA-cam channel it's being shown on. It's actually sad that people would sell their integrity & put out hyped up, overexaggerated reviews in exchange for mediocre free shit.
Hi I got the barricade extreme he trail force bumper the one up from this did you have enough wire to extend for factory fog lights because I'm short a little and I'm trying not to splice my oem harness please help
I ended up buying an extension harness of amazon that gave me an extra 16 inches on each side so I did not have to cut my oem harness had to sand a lil plastic on the harness that I bought but it works just fine
+Adam H awesome thanks for your response do you have the link to the one you purchased ? I'd really appreciate it , installing my bumper and winch in two weeks and want to make sure I have everything situated :)
+Adam H awesome thanks for your response do you have the link to the one you purchased ? I'd really appreciate it , installing my bumper and winch in two weeks and want to make sure I have everything situated :)
Yes here's the link. +Jason Majka HA! The first cut is the hardest, LOL! Good news is that if you don't like it, you can pull it off and put on another one. And factory take-off bumpers can usually be found for free. ;-)
Problem I have is the bolts are not already attached to the bumper. U literally have put every bolt in. Unfortunately at least with the one I received, it’s not a straight bolt on
+great207 Those brackets are actually tow hook reinforcements (that's what Jeep calls them) and they are there to reinforce the area where the tow hooks are mounted to the frame - because there is a potential for pulling force at that location. My opinion is that if those were needed to reinforce the mounting location for the stock bumper and tow hooks, then they should be re-used with the new bumper to maintain that reinforcement. With that said, I doubt most people leave them on, and you'll likely never have an issue.

This is the most helpful video on the internet. The wiring tip was the best. Thanks for saving me a ton of time.
Excellent video ! Exactly what I needed to see. Thanks !

An excellent how-to for JK front bumper R&R. You made it look easy.
thank you for this vid. just installed the barricade front and rear bumpers on my 2016 JK and your videos were great! I'm not very mechanical minded and it still made the install very easy. great job!
Jon Matteson any drilling involved?
No drilling. My brother held it in place and I bolted it right in!

Awesome detail on the front bumper removal, thanks man, you gotta love jeeps!
Excellent Video.. I used it as a tutorial for my install yesterday.. Mannnnn.. you were not joking regarding those inside bolts to remove the stock bumper.. Woah
Sweet. Glad you found it helpful!
Cpo's thanks for the videos of the barricade front and rear bumper and 9500 lbs barricade winch install it really helped me out!! you video made it pretty easy to install
Thanks
+todd wagoner Awesome! Thank you!
Well I'm sold! Thanks for the great video!
Great Video Sir...
Man. love your videos. thanks for doing them. you showed me a lot and saved me trouble. but you brave wearing those sandals. hope you don't hurt your feet!
Thank you for posting this. I just ordered a new bumper for my 2001 TJ. Very similar to this bumper you installed which looks fantastic by the way!
Great info, your not kidding...removing stock bumper on a 2017 Rubicon suckd buttermilk.
Great video ! I am installing my new bumper tomorrow and will use this video to help walk me through the process.
Do you still have this bumper and how has it held up?
Awesome video! In sold on that bumper.
Sharp looking bumper. I think I'll get one. Thanks for the tutorial.
That bracket for the fog lights was a pain. So I just flip the nut and bolt upside down it was a lot easier to put on than trying to hold the washer and lock washer in the back and get that nut on the bolt.
Thanks for the video. I'm sure it saved me a lot of time and headaches. I was able to have all the right tools before I started.

+Bill C I was looking to buy the Barricade bumper as well as the skid plate... they both wont work together?
This bumper looks really good 👍nice video
Thank you for this...gave me the nudge I needed to go ahead and replace the stock bumper
Completed in less than three hours from unboxing to test drive. Hardest part for me was mounting the foglight housings to the new bumper.
Great video. About to install mine in a couple week.
Nice install, love the look of that bumper.
8:24 you got these nuts!!!😁
I just ordered that bumper looks easy to install.good video, looking forward to putting on my 2016 wrangler.u did not mention if it fits my year model . I'm guessing it will fit if nothing has been changed from 2015 to 16.thanks for the video. very informative again thanks
awesome video.. it shows that even I can install this bumper.
Installed! Thanks for a detailed video.
In order to make those driver side bolts easier to take the fog light housing out then go for the bolts
Curious of your opinion of this bumper now
Did your front end drop at all from the extra weight?
Great video!
+gustavo hohl Thanks!
I see that you too wear the safety flip flops. :D
Nice work, go O's!
Love my Barricade bumper. However, my driver fog light was way too small for the stock fog light. Had to grind and file everything down to get it to fit.

Toe crushing work!

awesome vid man
Thank you for this video it helps a lot!
Great Video, Can you make one about installing the baricade rock sliders? Prefer unlimited but not sure what you have.
I'm about to install one any day now. Why not remove the fog lights completely to make it easier to get to the bumper bolts?
This looks strangely similar to the Rampage Rock Rage Front Bumper... Is this the same?
Great video, very informative
why not remove the fog light first to allow for better access to the bumper nuts?
What kind of wheels are those? I like them
+Ethan Breitenberg Mickey Thompson MM-366
The two additional bolts you put on. Didn't see you add them in the video. I assume you thread in after the bumper is on? And then put the nuts on? Thanks again

Sweet bumper brother. Sweet ring too. #thinblueline
Dude awesome!!!! I getting one !!! $513 front and rear ones from ebay!!!!
Good job!!
+Tito Bonilla Thanks!
Thank you, very informative.
+vthump Thanks!
Funny story, the "crash bar" may be weaker, but when you hit something hard it will bend and be able to be replaced instead of bending the frame...
Great Vid CPO... Let me ask you this... Would you buy this bumper again, and what are some of the pros and cons now that you have had it over a year? Also, did you ever get a set of ratchet wrenches? LOL :D
did you reuse the flat washer, crush washer and nut from the factory bumper?
How's this bumper holding up?
Is there space on the bumper to mount a front license plate. NY requires 2 plates. I am really likeing this bumper.
question did you take the stock skid plate off and put it back on? or did you just remove it completely?
Great video, planning on installing this bumper tomorrow, looks easy and should be fun. What kind of lift did you put on your jeep
How do you attach a license plate? Maybe the holes are just hard to see in the video.
Where did you get the red grille inserts ? Looks great !
It's a custom DIY... gutter guard!
Any updates on how this bumper held up? I noticed you were sporting another brand in the Moab videos
Awesome video! What about your license plate? Go O's!
Did you have to relocate the pump behind the bumper
Nope. I thought I mentioned that in the video but maybe it was the magazine review
+EVERYTHING cpo You mentioned it...not an issue with mine (2009). Most aftermarket bumpers require relocation, but there's sufficient clearance with the Barricade
Great videos!! Can you still be able to remove the grill with this bumper or with winch!?
Yes. I have removed the grill at least a dozen times with the winch and bumper on. No problem.
+OVERCLOCK3D - CPO thanks man!!
+OVERCLOCK3D - CPO a another question do you feel the weight of bumper and winch?
just curious, how wide is this bumper
I'm thinking of getting this bumper, will it cause front end sagging to my jeep?
Great video I subbed! Hey how do you like those tires? I'm looking for a 3ply with good winter traction.
Hey CPO just wondering were you still running the teraflex 1.5 leveling kit in this video and if so what size tires are those?
Yes. These are 35x12.50R17
+OVERCLOCK3D - CPO did you have any rubbing or anything I'm running the 1.5 lift from teraflex and the 1.25 wheel spacers I have a 4 door Willys wheeler
On road no...off road, at full flex I would have ripped my fenders off. Ran off road, however, with the Smittybilt XRC Fenders and it did well.
Wait so how exactly did you get more wire to work with for the fog lights?
I just opened up the existing wire loom... and there was enough there to reach.
I didn’t hear you mention the vacuum pump! Did you relocate it? Or left it as it was?
Left it right where it was. Relocation is not necessary with this bumper.
The 2 bolts you get that get screwed into from other side...how Hell do you get those in?? The side slot is impossible....i have a stinger bout to put on n dont understand how they go...help please???
Awesome vid, sir! Where do you mount your front license plate? I'm also in MD.
+kroakjr Illegally, I think. LOL. You can see what I did in some of my other videos, but I cut out the top and used the fairlead bolts to mount it. If I did it again, I'd just drill a couple of holes in the bumper and just bolt it on.
Does Barricade make a rear bumper that accommodates the rear hitch receiver for those of us with the towing package?
+Jay Skeetor No, unfortunately. I also have a tow hitch on my JK. There are really two options at present. Remove your existing tow hitch and use the Barricade "unrated" tow hitch...or cut off the Baricade hitch and leave your "rated" tow hitch in place. My understanding is that it's not rated for towing because that requires additional testing and certification of some sort -- you know....rules. They put the hitch on there to support hitch accessories like bike racks and luggage racks. I do know people pull light trailers as well. I'm probably going to install the rear bumper as well, and will have to make this decision soon.
how does a bumper like this compare to a bumper on eBay that is half or sometimes a quarter of the price? is this the cheapest best quality bumper?
Ben Lux It's actually one in the same w/ eBay brands such as e-auto grilles. Just a generic super oem budget bumper used by a dozen budget companies, poorly made, cheap powder coat that will peel and flaked within a year. You have to take product product reviews of items made by people that sponsor the UA-cam channel it's being shown on. Your fog light wiring harness, how did you secured it down? Great videos, always enjoy them
I ended up using zip ties to secure it in a few places.
What size wire do I need to get for the fog lights ?
In case you didn’t know that’s called an offset box wrench
Hi I got the barricade extreme he trail force bumper the one up from this did you have enough wire to extend for factory fog lights because I'm short a little and I'm trying not to splice my oem harness please help
did you ever get your answer if so could you let me know your solution

Can't you just remove the fog light housing to get to those bolts?
may have been mentioned...but couldn't you just take the fog light housings out first to make the bolts easier to access?
+sinistermind33 Yes...that might be a good option. Someone else I know has done it that way.
I'm surprised you can winch off that when the it's held on by just bolt threads, seems like it wouldn't be strong enough
Can I bring my Jeep over to have you cut my stock bumper? Don't have enough guts to cut my bumper. Great video.
+Jason Majka HA! The first cut is the hardest, LOL! Good news is that if you don't like it, you can pull it off and put on another one. And factory take-off bumpers can usually be found for free. ;-)
Is this the full width bumper? Thanks for the great video!
TacticoolNinja it's more of a mid width bumper
What size Bar light can you mount on that bumper bar?
I have a 20" light mounted there.
Problem I have is the bolts are not already attached to the bumper. U literally have put every bolt in. Unfortunately at least with the one I received, it’s not a straight bolt on
Hey CPO. Great video. I have the same bumper and love it. I didn't reuse the brackets from the factory bumper. Are their use recommended?
+great207 Those brackets are actually tow hook reinforcements (that's what Jeep calls them) and they are there to reinforce the area where the tow hooks are mounted to the frame - because there is a potential for pulling force at that location. My opinion is that if those were needed to reinforce the mounting location for the stock bumper and tow hooks, then they should be re-used with the new bumper to maintain that reinforcement. With that said, I doubt most people leave them on, and you'll likely never have an issue.
