An interesting thing to note is that, while Alfric claims that Galdera slayed Orsa in the original Octopath Traveler, the opening sequence and the “Final Chapter” sequence in OTCOTC claims that Orsa died upon birthing Galdera. I doubt the point is too important, but I find it rather piquing indeed
If you ever do seek to make a video about COTC, I may or may not have screenshotted like 99.9% of the dialogue and scenes that took place in case I ever wanted to compile all the information, so yeah xd
@SunflowerSerenade1 yeah, it's an interesting contradiction. Not sure what the official translation is, but I figured it was unlikely a goddess could die in child birth, so I went with the other side of the story
Man your channel is so underrated!!! I love Octopath and it seems that just you is giving this amazing game the attention that deserves it!! Keep your good job my Octo friend!! ❤🎉
Excellent collection of info and presented well! I will say, though, Champions of the Continent is one crazy mass of worldbuilding that I am not certain I can recommend due to being a gacha. The lore and story, though? That is absolutely what kept me playing for quite a long time. For the most part, though, I think the most important tidbits are already presented in this video or are just general worldbuilding, such as the kingdoms of Orsterra and their leaders, other nations that only see info from traveler's backstories, or extra backstory on characters from Octopath Traveler 1.
Yeah, Continent seems like its got its pros and cons. I want to play through it at some point, mostly for the lore, but it'll probably be a bit. Glad to hear you liked the video!
At 9:11 it appears that the person responsible for this war, and consequently, leaving Ophilia an orphan, was King Pardis III, king of Edoras at that moment in history, so much so that this is shown in a flashback in Master of All by Champions of the Continent.
This is an excellent video. The rythm, editing and illustrations are really spot on! BTW, have you done all these 3D illustrations by yourself ? They look really pretty.
Glad to see Octopath Traveler and its lore getting some love! That said... is it actually stated anywhere that Mattias led the attack on Cordelia Ravus's parents? I've never heard of that before, not even in Champions of the Continent (whose authority remains in some debate).
@Camorelius It doesn't specify that Mattias was the one to do it, but I added it into the video both for flavor, and also because it would make the most sense for him to actually do something for the order, instead of just building his own cult. So while I think it's likely that he led the attack, it isn't fully canon
Thanks for the clarification! I do generally enjoy filling in blanks and creating theories for that purpose, but I'd tend to caution against presenting those theories in the same manner as facts. Mattias is a fantastic character, it should be noted, so more involvement on his behalf definitely would be interesting. I'd tend to think that he operates more from the shadows, however, and lets the Obsidians do the dirty work (since his diary implies that he works separately from the organization, with Simeon keeping him secret from the others and perhaps even planning to use him as a weapon against them if the need should arise). In any case, great job narrating Matthew's fall from faith. That was particularly poetic - even more so in your retelling than in the in-game Gate of Finis reveal.
@Hetsu.. It talks about the broader history of Octopath Travelers world, but doesn't cover Octo2 at all. I'll be making a different video for that! But you're good to watch it without having touched the second game
@@GeoSage1137 well, as hopeless a wish it is, I'd like them to release a complete version at a later date where all the characters are attainable without the gacha, like "oh you want this character? Do a sidequest for them and they'll join you!". Kinda like how I hope they do Genshin Impact one day, though that too is a hopeless wish. I personally hate gacha games, especially when I have had the (un) fortunate OCD to "collect 'em all!" Mentality that I suffer from another franchise.

I wish champion's wasn't canon. From what reviews ive seen it isn't as good as the mainline games, and on top of that, its a gacha game.

The few positives of that game are:
Fan blade as a weapon
A bit of lore
Cool character designs.
