Could even explain why she goes to sleep once it's destroyed: with the corruption of the Spire eliminated, she can now rest! And thank you very much! Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! :)
The creatures inside the spire also shows interesting lore. In the first act, you'll meet more humanoids and stuff that kind of makes sense in real world. While going higher up, the creatures you encounter will become more abstract and become more like a blob of flesh. Not only that, the event that you'll meet also becomes more abstract too. I wonder whether there are more details like this hidden inside the game.
The library event references real books/webnovels. One is the Martian (adapted with Matt Damon) and another (the girl who controls insects) is Worm by Wildbow.
I like to think that the cards are like memories and as your ascending the spire you are regaining your techniques and powers you forgot possibly as a side effect to meows memory wiping. Some events seem to back this up while others don't make to much sense.

I'm kinda curious about what the deal of the bosses is Like you already talked about Champion, Awakened and Time Eater Guardian and Automaton are simple as they're the same kinda constructs as the Defect. Deca too by the looks of it, but Donu not so sure. Slime Boss is self explanatory too So that leaves Hexaghost and Collector (and Donu if it's not a construct)
I think it's wrong to assume that Neow can mind control people, or something. You only get to meet Neow/get blessings AFTER your first attempt, in which you inevitably die. 2nd run onwards - you get to meet Neow, but I think it's clear that the outsiders that came to the Spire didn't just immediately fall under the influence of Neow - they tried to slay the spire, and failed. Neow resurrected her AFTER the fact. After all, why would she interfere before then? Either the outsiders die, or they achieve what Neow wants. No need for resurrection or "mInD cOntRoL". Granted, the Defect's lore is kind of co trary to this, as Neow seemingly appears immediately after the Defect becomes unstable, but what I really think happened in that scene is just that... the Defect died. Simple as that. Neow just resurrected him afterwards and introduced herself.
@@reaperz5677 I never meant to imply that Neow has Mind Control powers, just that she manipulates the Outsiders to do her bidding - I don’t think that requires mind control. She just picks them up after they die, says “Hey, choose one of these and go Slay the Spire”, and then sends them on their way. I feel a less manipulative approach would be to clue them into what’s happening at the start of each run or something, but she doesn’t do that. I never considered that our first run is immediately after the Outsider gets to the Spire. I figured the cycle had already been going for a while and we just picked up in a random cycle, especially since I think Ranwid, the Cleric, and Apparitions can be encountered in that first run, all of whom can imply they’ve met you before (at least, I *think* they can - but I never tested that). But it would make sense it was the first run! That’s a cool thought! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! And thanks for watching!
I wanted to say this is an amazing video but from my studying of the lore I think there is a lot more to mention. First there is the exsistence of GOD that you miss to mention,, they are show by the eyes following the watcher when she reach "Divinity" by praying and the pop up event of the golden god statue. Second there is about the effect of reaching the peak of spire, show by the achievement enternal one and what happen to everybody when they reach top of the tower, the effect of reaching the peak of the spire is probably become ETERNAL( SHOW BY ARCHIVEMENT. So it dosn't really make sense to see the spire as something that ruin and kill everyone instead as a challenge for reward. LASTLY AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THE RELIC, using the text on the relic duality written by a character call Zoroth "And the sun extinguished forever, as if curtain fell before it" THE AND IN THE STATEMENT MEAN IT'S HAVE A SENTENCE THAT SHOULD FOLLOW BEFORE IT AND ZOROTH ONLY COMMENT ON TWO OTHER RELIC WHICH IS ORRERY AND SUNDIAL, THEY STATE "Early man's foolish obsession with time caused them to look to the sky for guidance, hoping for something permanent." - Zoroth and "Once you understand the universe..." - Zoroth COMBINE ALL THOSE YOU WILL GET THE IMFORMATION YOU GET THE STORY OF HUMAN LOOK AT SKY FOR GUILDENCE AND THEN THE SUN EXTINGUISHED. I can't wait to suck again at the sequel. 😂
@@Jopeth23 When my poor desicions and unluckiness comes together...
Nice lore video man
The library event references real books/webnovels. One is the Martian (adapted with Matt Damon) and another (the girl who controls insects) is Worm by Wildbow.
Was literally looking up the lore yesterday 😭 thank you for making this
Best sts lore video I’ve seen
I have no idea what a 'spire' is, even after 340 hours of playtime😂
Never expect it to be a building with a heart.
Thanks a lot for making this video!
A spire is basically a big building with a pointy top, or the pointy part at the top of a building
I like to think that the cards are like memories and as your ascending the spire you are regaining your techniques and powers you forgot possibly as a side effect to meows memory wiping.
Some events seem to back this up while others don't make to much sense.
That was great! Thanks for making it
the time eater and teh watcher actually have the same design on their coat, essentially confirming that the time eater used to be an ascetic like the watcher
I noticed that! The Time Eater's insignia is more intricate and its cloak is a deeper purple, so maybe they were a higher rank or something.
The text that time eater says to watcher implies they have a history together
I have been playing this game for over a year and never noticed like, half of this.
Thank you squatch for making me know about the lore of Lisa the painful without you I wouldn't know some awesome friends I made that like Lisa the painful.
@@ManEpic-s4f That’s awesome to hear, man! Happy the game made such a positive impact on your life! Thanks for sharing!
I often start an StS run with the intention that this time I would read the in game lore, instead I find myself screaming "GOD DAMN IT GAME, JUST GIVE ME RUPTURE!"
I'm a simple woman. I see a lore video of *insert franchise here* and I must hit the like button. Sad that its not like an hour long or something.
Man these videos are fantastic. There is a game with a lot of lore there, yet I've never seen a good lore explained series on it... Lobotomy Corp.
If you do a video on that, I'd be so happy :p
Plus I doubt I'm the only one craving it with how interesting that game's world is.
@@Dormaze Thank you very much! Happy to hear you enjoyed!
Doesn’t 8-bit Hypocrite have a video on the lore and story of Lobotomy Corporation? Is that not what you’re looking for?

Welcome back. Maybe I'll make another video on a game you like someday. Got any recommendations?
Keep up the vids i love your hotline miami vids❤and your voice is inspiring ❤have a lovely day❤
Amazing video bro
Good watch. Well done putting this together. Would appreciate another on StS.
@@michaelmeyer5898 I’ve considered doing one on Downfall, but this video would have to perform AMAZINGLY for me to decide it would be worth it.
Otherwise, probably won’t do another until StS2
@SquatchGamingChannel i hope it does. Tbh it's rare I feel the need to comment on a video, so I'll be looking forward to your next regardless of it. You have the knack for interesting and insightful videos.
Good job on this video.
(most important part in my grammarly not good and hard to read paragraph) the lore hidden in the relic, using the text on the relic duality written by a character call Zoroth
"And the sun extinguished forever, as if curtain fell before it"
THE AND IN THE STATEMENT MEAN IT'S HAVE A SENTENCE THAT SHOULD FOLLOW BEFORE IT AND ZOROTH ONLY COMMENT ON TWO OTHER RELIC WHICH IS ORRERY AND SUNDIAL, THEY STATE

"Once you understand the universe..." - Zoroth
COMBINE ALL THOSE YOU WILL GET THE IMFORMATION YOU GET THE STORY OF HUMAN LOOK AT SKY FOR GUILDENCE AND THEN THE SUN EXTINGUISHED. USING IMFORMATION FROM ALL OTHER RELIC ABOUT SUN BEING GONE OCEAN AND EVERYTHING IN OUTSIDE WORLD GETTING AFFECTED AND THE WATCH RELIC STATING THAT TIME WORK DIFFERENTLY IN THE TOWER, WE CAN PIECE TOGETHER THE BACKGROUND IMFORMATION OF HUMAN SEEK POWER, GOD THAT EXSIST IN THE SLAY THE SPIRE UNIVERSE( PROVEN BY MY FIRST STATEMENT ABOUT WATCHER AND STUFF) GIVE THE SPIRE HUMAN CLIMB SPIRE TO GAIN POWER. So, some of the lore of StS is somewhat similar to the story of the Tower of Babylon? The humans have tried to reach for the skies, and were punished by God of some kind?
@@littlehorn0063 basically yes, but the human in the past all die except two guy, and also it is not directly indicate that the god punish the human, they did bbuild the spire but the corruption might come from somewhwere else
return of the king.
When Slay the spire 2 comes out this video will probably get 1 million views.
i havent even watched the video but i just KNOW this video is gonna be awesome
@@5Sam66 Hopefully you didn’t change your mind after watching this! Thanks for watching!
Im addicted to this game
Excellent storytelling
Amazing!
Very much felt like Tower of God. Especially the City concept
I think neow doesnt want to escape the spire but just to get some sleep that the spire is preventing it from getting.
I like seeing a made up story with the card art much like how people make story with yugioh card art. Cool editing and Nice video. thanks for this I've been itching to know more about the lore of StS
I'm kinda curious about what the deal of the bosses is
Like you already talked about Champion, Awakened and Time Eater
Guardian and Automaton are simple as they're the same kinda constructs as the Defect. Deca too by the looks of it, but Donu not so sure. Slime Boss is self explanatory too
So that leaves Hexaghost and Collector (and Donu if it's not a construct)
Finally.
Lore time.
my fav game yay
Hope I do it justice! Thanks for watching!
@ you always do squatch!
Huh I never thought about how the dagger has the same getting stronger effect as the cultist
I would love a follow up
I wanted to say this is an amazing video but from my studying of the lore I think there is a lot more to mention.
LASTLY AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THE RELIC, using the text on the relic duality written by a character call Zoroth
"And the sun extinguished forever, as if curtain fell before it"
THE AND IN THE STATEMENT MEAN IT'S HAVE A SENTENCE THAT SHOULD FOLLOW BEFORE IT AND ZOROTH ONLY COMMENT ON TWO OTHER RELIC WHICH IS ORRERY AND SUNDIAL, THEY STATE
"Early man's foolish obsession with time caused them to look to the sky for guidance, hoping for something permanent." - Zoroth and
"Once you understand the universe..." - Zoroth

THERE ARE MANY MORE THING THAT HELP MY STATEMENT, BUT I ALREADY MAKE A PARAGRAPH THAT IS SUPER HARD TO READ BUT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED I CAN PROVIDE MORE EVIDENCE TO PROVE MY THEORY
Great job.
I'm so used to play the Downfall mod that I'm like, what?! Where is the Hermit and playable bosses..?! Oh yeah, DF added so much more content that I can't play vanilla StS because it seems too thin of content...
I also like the way downfall expands upon the lore
Will you cover the Mea Culpa DLC for Blasphemous II on this channel? I would love to watch your overview of it!
Yup! I'm working on that now! I'll try to get it out in December, but it most likely won't be out until after the first of the year (don't have a lot of free time nowadays)
In the meantime, check out the video that The Lore Hunter did! I gave it a watch and it was pretty nice!

WAKE UP BABE SQUATCH GAMING STS LORE VIDEO
Wow the first guy to actually cover the lore of this game. Although it's kinda second knowledge once you've sinked 200+ hours into the game 😅
But hey i didn't know watcher was blind until this video
I'm honestly *shocked* that no one else had made a video on the lore in the years since the game has come out
I'm surprised that you didn't say anything about the architector
How dare you not mention Cleric! CLERIC IS THE BEST HEALER !!!
HAVE A NICE DAY!!!
In seriousness though, he's another character that is well aware of your predicament. If you don't bother to donate to him in his City event, he mocks you, saying "You won't make a difference. You never do."
You should check out RUINER. Its a lot like midnight fight express with some cool cyberpunk lore.

2:00 You say the ancients have disappeared but in the same video chapter you being up Neow, who IS an Ancient. Also the book at 3:00 in the library is a work of fiction that references an actual book, all three library books are.
Good work on the video though, sorry if this sounds nitpick-y.
1. Yeah, I guess I could've said *most* of the Ancients have since disappeared, huh? Whoops!
2. Right, I meant that part to be more of a "there are further implications that things are bad in the world" rather than a "this is exactly what's going on in the spire" type thing. Kind of like the book was a "inspired by true events" type situation, y'know?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts though. They help me get better! And thanks for watching! Happy you enjoyed!

I know you’ll find it pedantic but it really annoys me when people say ‘addicting’ instead of addictive.
