Thanks! Bri worked so hard to get that stripe right while in the dinghy floating along. It’s amazing what a difference it makes. Indioko has come a long way since we rescued her ❤️
I’m not sure how long we’ll be able to keep her looking like that! Glad you enjoyed the ending. It was pretty magic sailing off between those mountains!
Haha. Yeah, I don’t know why these things happen to us but it’s all part of the adventure. Makes us enjoy the highs all that much more. Can’t wait to see what’s around the corner.
Another fantastic video. Thorough and clear explanations of a complicated process. The animations really worked well. And you stayed upbeat and kept your composure during a difficult haul out. Thanks for all your hard work!
Looking at the hull remembered some guy writing "orange peel is like a golf ball, the demples help with lift" am absolutely sure that was a scientific study. Used the blow the glove off technique yesterday it worked well.
Why did you choose to spray the coppercoat? My understanding from researching it and reading the instructions (I'm going this route next winter)..specifically recommend rolling it on. You get a thicker coat rolling vs spraying to give you the thickness needed.
Great question. We spent a lot of time looking into this. Deep in the coppercoat info you can find that it’s possible to spray if you know what your doing (hence we didn’t do it ourselves). The main benefit is that you get a smoother finish so less sanding is required to activate it (yes, LESS sanding lol). The drawback is that you have to use more coats to get up to the required thickness and the spray gun must have a larger nozzle to accommodate for the copper particles. You also have to move faster as the epoxy dries faster. We discussed this with Coppercoat uk at length before committing to it and they were very helpful in getting the details worked out too.
Another interesting and informative video. Indioko is looking great! Such a crescendo of work at the end.....ahh, they probably just wanted you guys out of the yard :)
It was such an incredible feeling to get back in the water after all that drama! Haha, yes have you spotted us in some of their videos? Spoiler alert! 😂
I'm happy it all turned out well. Sorry about the extra cost plus several days lost (which isn't a lot in boat-project terms). You guys have an amazing boat!
We often refer to Indioko as our Rescue Cat. Still hides behind the couch and scratches us but we think that she will learn to love us as much as we love her. 😊 She is a fantastic boat for us. Super forgiving and yet still sails well and gets us where we want to go.
We prefer to use our sails as much as possible. Usually we only use our engine to anchor. We also added a lot of solar to the boat a few months ago in Saint Martin. 😃
Thanks! If you check back to the start of our adventure, you can learn about how we came to be the owners of Indioko. She has had a long life for sure. There is a big difference of opinion between monohull (single) and catamaran (double) when it comes to safety. A catamaran doesn’t lean over much in waves so you might say it’s safer to move around the boat but a monohull has a built in system to reduce damage to the boat in big winds which a catamaran doesn’t. So I think it’s safest to learn on a monohull before going to a catamaran but it’s a much bigger discussion.
It was certainly a stressful process but if it works as well as we’re hoping, then we’ll still consider it worth it. We’ll keep you updated on how it goes in a few months of being back in the water!
Awesome episode! How do the paint the bits where the stands are? Also with six layers of copper on top of six (patchy) layers how much weight have you added to that boat? Nice to see the avitars back (Rach' loves them:-) ! Indi is looking really good after all that care and attention. While I have no actual practical need to know anything about coppercoat it is facinating and I really want to see an update one year on, so can you stick something in your calender please 🙂
It was such a good feeling to get back on that water!! 😅 We had to wait for three days for the paint to dry, then the tractor came and lifted the boat up so we could move the stands to a different set of bulkheads and then we painted the squares and had to wait another three days for those to dry out. All a bit of a long, drawn out process! There’s definitely a lot of extra weight on there now but hopefully the new shiny bottom will still help us to move quickly. And we’ll definitely do a review when it’s time to clean the bottom - I want to know how long before the orange starts to turn green!
Newton is the man! Great crew and great job!
He was such a saviour to our situation. Such a cool guy
What a job and the boat looks really swish and clean. Loving the boot stripe down the side. Looks great 👌
Thanks! Bri worked so hard to get that stripe right while in the dinghy floating along. It’s amazing what a difference it makes. Indioko has come a long way since we rescued her ❤️
Indi is soooo shiny 🤩 Brilliant ending! (Both recap/drone shots ❤️ and the animal heads 😆)
I’m not sure how long we’ll be able to keep her looking like that! Glad you enjoyed the ending. It was pretty magic sailing off between those mountains!
Looks like you guys have an almost brand new boat.
She feels brand new at this point. Pretty sure it won’t last knowing us tho 😂
You guys have a great attitude considering all the challenges you guys faced......👍🏿
Haha. Yeah, I don’t know why these things happen to us but it’s all part of the adventure. Makes us enjoy the highs all that much more. Can’t wait to see what’s around the corner.
Thanks guys, GET READY FOR THE ADVENTURES, we can't wait. Stay safe y'all.👍🐾
We are so excited to be back on the water and off to find the next adventure. More on that this sunday
Another fantastic video. Thorough and clear explanations of a complicated process. The animations really worked well. And you stayed upbeat and kept your composure during a difficult haul out. Thanks for all your hard work!
Wow. Thanks. It’s always a challenge to capture the full process and still show how much fun we can be having at the same time.
amazing video good luck guys
Cheers Paul. So happy you enjoyed it. More to come every Sunday. 😊

Haha! Love the idea that we might actually be dispensing useful tips. We should probably add a warning to the start of our episodes in that case. 😝
Love your channel!
So pleased you’re enjoying the adventure!
It'll be nice to see how this material works long term.
Yeah. We are keeping track. So far it’s doing well.l but we have heard that it can perform differently in warm and cold waters

Great video , thanks for all the hard work and effort producing good content, 5 ⭐️
Thank you for watching! We keep learning along the way so hopefully we get better and better at sharing.
Another interesting and informative video. Indioko is looking great!
Such a crescendo of work at the end.....ahh, they probably just wanted you guys out of the yard :)
Haha yeah I have to say, we were pretty keen to get out too. It was a long road but we got there!
nice to see it all work out in the end. can't wait to see you sailing again. you going to Collab with adam and Khiara ?

An u can also use sails, I am sure u have solar

Looks great, if u don't mind a couple of questions, did u buy boat new, an a double hull is safer then a single hull correct.

If you could turn back time would you use something else apart from Coppercoat?
