The first two days of 4.0 was the best the game has been in terms of performance and responsiveness. Then everything went belly up including all missions missing and QT taking you into the Stanton sun.
Meen, the qt issue is related to data conflict. You need to completely get rid of all ptu and preview files and fresh install the game. (3.24 Live you can leave alone though as that is separate and not an issue).
The missions issue is related to how they load on the servers so there isn’t any fix to that sadly. As long as the server hasn’t crashed though, it will eventually load missions in for you.
@mebrian5728 many complained in chat that missions didn't work. Tried to deliver Tungsten three times with failed notices every time... Ain't touching it until next patch, no matter if version number increases or not.
Aside from missions and a few server crashes, 4.0 has been going pretty well for me so far. It's strange that things are pretty good for me but so bad for some others.
A few? Hangars were broken, then QT were broken, then missions were broken, then servers were broken. Klescher is still broken. There are bugs all over the place.
I often find my own loop in SC. For a while I was doing bounties, stealing the best NPC ship and then going around with NPCs in the turrets. Since Pyro dropped however, I've been doing salvaging. And I mean serious salvage. I strip weapons and components from ships, I take missiles and torps and then scrape the hull and munch it too. Today I found a Polaris I thought was abandoned at a station, I went in, switched everything off, took the ominskys, nicked 14 torps, went back to store everything cos the Vulture was full and thought I'd go back to get components and scrape the hull. When I got back the ship was gone and Sax_Appeal (name of the owner) was flying around in a Vanguard, presumably lookin for me to destroy me! Well, I find all this fun and engaging, so I'm gonna keep going with my loop, despite all bugs and the rest. See you in Pyro folks, or maybe you won't see me, but I'll see you and your ship 🤑
CR is *THE* reason I backed Star Citizen in the first place. I was a HUGE fan of Wing Commander. It was one of my go-to favorite games back in the day... When CR described what he wanted to do on the kickstarter... I literally threw every dollar I had at the time at the project. I lost my original login, it got hacked... I never got it back, but I signed up again and kept throwing money at it as often as I could and still do. I just don't have a lot to give these days now that I'm disabled. Buuuut.... Overall, I'm happy with the progress. Like everyone else, I'm disappointed with the amount of TIME it's taking, but I can't REALLY complain there. This game is just something that nobody else has done and probably never will again. This isn't just a diamond in the rough, this is a diamond in a universe of rough. I think we'll get the game we've ALL always wanted all along in the end... Though some of us won't be alive when it's finally delivered! lol!
Day 1- 4.0 is an absolutely unplayable disaster. I can’t open doors. When they did work I cant QT because it just takes me directly into the sun. Day 2- Near flawless performance. Nearly 0 bugs. The most fun i’ve had in SC and i can finally see the vision. I have literally had both worlds. Let’s see what day 3 looks like 🤣 on a serious note. If they can make this build stable and take it to live, this will definitely be my most played game. So fun now when it works in 4.0.
Played some 4.0. Somehow was trespassing trying to land in my own hangar and got blown up and sent to prison.. the elevators there weren't working so I was totally stuck. Had to do a player repair/reset. Still lots of issues with core gameplay loops, but general gameplay does seem much more smooth.
@@Citizen00798 Log into the RSI website, go to account settings and character repair. It'll move you back to your home zone. Doesn't reset any progress/ship ownerships.
Of you have black elevator you don't need to reset - jump on asian servers for a bit, my 10th or so was able to process me. A bit annoying but saves progression
4.0 was running weirdly well for me besides some bugs , trains clipping ( what’s new ) but I’m definitely waiting for refinements before, cause there is no way server degradation isn’t going to take hold.
Played 4.0 preview last night. Missions ran well, but had to do a couple of re-logs to fix hangar shop claims. It runs sooooo much smoother though, and right now I'm using a mobile-tether/hot-spot.
@ literally have not gotten past the doors. I’ve tried 10 times. Every single time there has been people camping the doors. It’s not possible solo when they are there
@@geraldlevangie1976that's the exact intention of contested zones. You fight over them with other people. If you want a single player experience, don't mess around with high profile locations.....Don't know what you are expecting out of an MMO. If you want single player experiences everywhere you go, that won't be what you get in this game, period.
I think the plan for the future of master Modes is that quantum jumping will just be another operator mode, like scanning and missiles are now. Max speed will be universal per ship, not change based on mode, and will be similar to SCM speed now. The speed boost is quantum boost, which is more like jumping to quantum, but in any direction, than any current mechanic, up to 10% of your quantum jump speed. So the QI will block them from either jumping or boosting, but the speed limits as you maneuver won't change.
We should have the option to choose if we want to spawn in hanger, or a hab, for those of us who need to go to the shops when logging in as we go to our hanger, rather than needing to waste time to backtrack to the shops, then backtrack all the way to our hanger BEFORE taking off.\
The servers are struggling but I'm honestly surprised by how _well_ 4.0 is going. I'm not used to a patch being this smooth so soon after launch. There's a lot of trouble with elevators breaking (but _not_ killing you), and missions either not popping, or not enough pop and people take them, and if you do take them, the targets don't always spawn. But it's the first Monday after a major patch...
Hopefully they turn hangar log in back on soon. It is absolutely important to pass on current info from developers to backers (and feedback in the other direction). Transparency helps everything.
My first experince in 4.0 today and i loved it , thought the jump to Pyro was epic , and the planets and the Pyro system sublime . Needed that after Citizen Con , im back on side now.
Ive had very minimal problems with 4.0 the worst thing was finding a ball in an outpost that wasnt textured yet and not being able to quantum in stanton
Here's hoping the next year sees a vast improvement in Star Citizen quality across all aspects (especially in missions) of the game and a completion of SQ42 development.
Protip: Stick with your home location. I got stuck on Everus for half a day because my hanger and ships weren't showing (also no global chat to ask for help), but I finally got a ride to Lorville and my hanger always shows up.
Finally got to try it out tonight, and couldn't even log on. Sat in queue, which is fine, but then got error codes where my connection timed out. Spent almost two hours watching loading screens. Think I'll wait until after the holidays
I've had one major issue in 4.0 i was logged out of my home location.Hanging had to claim all my ships to a different location to fix. Other than that, it's been great!
Been having a mostly fun experience exploring Pyro while doing the merc missions. Great locations, love the buildings at outposts. Went back and did some missions around ArcCorp. NPCs were very fun, running a lot better.
If you take a peek at the currently released financial report (for 2022) and extrapolate out you see a warning that CIGs spending may outweigh what they have brought in.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to leave New Babbage since 4.0 Preview released - the hangars either won't let me out, obstruct my way with other player wrecks, or won't even let me summon the lift from the spaceport to the hangar. I've tried multiple times over the past few days... Others have got out but found QD *ONLY* takes you to the Stanton star, no matter what destination you choose (for example). Not fit for use at the moment.
i’ve found that if you use a small ship you can kinda wiggle your way out of the closed exterior hangar doors, if you do that and leave and come back they open successfully after that, even after relogs. still annoying though
I've been cautious around 4.0 because my system is extremely volatile around letting the game run smoothly but the preview release has been very kind to me. I haven't had crashing and lag spikes instead just some stuttering. The only issues I've had are warping 200km away from my intended destination, happens mostly around stations thankfully.. But then I also had an issue where station security blasto'ed my character, gave me a four hour prison sentence but that's just star citizen being itself. Not a big deal, you learn to live with the bugs :D Edit: I found going through the warp gate, or the jump point a highlight of my session. I can't wait to explore Pyro!

Could you please talk about how the 4.0 servers keep randomly turning off and how it is forcing players to rebuy things thus polluting the economy data with bad datapoints? And how it seems that no content creators are experiencing this, or if they are, actively choosing to not talk about this grave, live-blocking issue?
Very excited for server meshing. Now they just need to get a bunch of social features added to the game. An auction house. Ingame orgs. A public job board. And more!
Is anyone else having the Error 2000 at the launcher to download? I set in a ticket and uninstalled and reinstalled but I cannot even d/l the normal version
I've had some of the most epic star citizen moments since I started backing 8 years ago in 4.0. Definitely some bugs getting in the way but I've finally got a good amount of money so I can start hitting the contested zones hard
Landed in my hanger at seraphim and then got sent into the floor as my hanger merged with someone else’s. I got out my ship and fell down below the hanger where the ships come up from and backspaced to respawn. My ship was “impounded” and now it wants 50k to get back, what a joke. Not that 50k is hard to get, just really annoying when first starting, and can really be game breaking for new people/ people with only one ship. Missiles are stupid expensive now too.
4.0 is great when it works. But certain contracts keep breaking at crucial moments. So, I like hauling contracts; going to pickup locations, loading up, flying off... But the payoff at the drop-off is broken. Have a happy holiday.
I'm "trying" to play 3.24.3 in order to get the save stanton missions done but due to the high level of difficulty of the missions for a solo player and bugs, I haven't been able to and will probably give up because it's just not fun.
4.0 runs really nice. Great framerate with no stutters, but the lack of contracts is a pain. I've seen a few, though the tracker permit one hasn't worked for me yet. It never shows the target location. Hopefully, CIG will get it fixed soon. Preferably before their off for holidays.
Like a few people have said, the first few days went very very well! Then there was a quick update and now after trying a few days it is unplayable. I have not had a game last longer than 10 minutes without the black screen of limbo, can not drink anything or die, and my brother gets stuck in his hanger and took forever to get out of jail. The black screen makes me reluctant to play until they get back.
So far besides the occasional bug 4.0 has been doing good I haven't been back to a station for a week and just bed logging and everything's been working. It's definitely helping with the immersion and living off the grid
Pyro ate my temporary Carrack and spat it out into the netherworlds. Other than that, a few things were down for awhile.. but it runs like a dream now. Loving every bit of it!!
I wish I could play the game! When they combine hotfix and the original preview 4.0 I got locked to the server and now can’t join the PTU. There’s an issue council ticket, but I doubt they will get to this in a timely fashion.
Crusader is a little bit a mess in 4.0. Arccorp is running smoothly for all missions. If u are in Arccorp and not near Area 18 or Baijini Point, it might not show up contracts for bounties sometimes. But I do like the mission economy revamp for lower tier bounties.
Been playing the 4.0 build. The bugs and issues seem pretty minor all things considered. I think the biggest issue I have found is that if you get a server error, while you do keep your missions, they no longer seem to be completable.
I just had a server error last night, it took about 10 minutes to recover which is a long time but I kept my mission and was able to complete it without a problem.
4.0 is RUNNING really well for me... but I can't leave Orison due to a hangar bug, and I can't ask for help because I can't see or message in General chat.

I’m really stoked about how they released 4.0 and how they left 3.24.3 up. Gives me a chance to try to get the phase 1 missions done before they’re gone
4.0 was insanely performant for me. Still is. But I've been stuck at A18 after one black screen bug that made me alt-f4, and then my hangar is completely useless since. But hey, it runs well! I'm just stuck in a tiny section of a city on a city planet!
I got the QI version myself, I couldn't see any reason to get the base version for the price difference. The reduction in handling I doubt I'll ever notice at my level of skill.
So will the move from aUEC to UEC happen now that it is EA instead of alpha? What is the rationale for having only temporary forms of non-paid persistence?
Overall, Im proud of CIG for getting server meshing in. While this isn't new tech, it certainly is groundbreaking implementation. Seeing more players running around and much better NPC saturation is so cool. Once they add more dialog and interaction, the PU will feel SO alive. Maelstrom, dynamic weather, new planet tech and creatures... im very happy with what is here now and what we have to look forward to!
Me and my buddy were doing hauling missions and enjoying 4.0 then suddenly one of the delivery spots decided I was doing something criminal so it opened fire on our ship (buddy was flying). We died, my buddy ended up in hospital and I in jail... and for those who also got into jail you know... I'm stuck now. The exit elevator doesn't work, you can't leave. The escape mission doesn't spawn as its probably not in 4.0 yet. So totally stuck. Tried different region servers, tried everything but nope. Did a character reset but it just resets your 3.2 character. It's hotel California, I checked in but I can't ever leave. So we have Christmas holiday and can't play Star Citizen together because I'm stuck. If anyone has a working sollution, please let me know, but I doubt I'll be playing until they're back from holiday. It REALLY SUCKS.

Missions and QT have worked for me. The chat is definently belly up.

thats how it is, youll experience no issues with the game while 98% of everyone else is experiencing the worst issues with the game

Running fine now that the weekenders are back to work! I'm on holiday for 2 weeks. Grinding begins.

contested zones are cool in theory.. needs to be more locations because all i see is people camping the entrance in groups and its boring as hell
How far how you gotten through cz? I’ve only managed to get through a couple of the puzzles.

Dude don't go solo. Org groups intentionally leave a few guys at entrance so their forward team can explore cz without much risk.

4.0 has been kind to me, except for missions in pyro and the landing bug/issue where the menu spawns and very quickly disappears

This year at IAE, i finnaly upgraded my legacy 300i starter package to a C1 Spirit and a new paint. I'm really enjoying it in this 4.0 preview!
Could you please talk about how the 4.0 servers keep randomly turning off and how it is forcing players to rebuy things thus polluting the economy data with bad datapoints? And how it seems that no content creators are experiencing this, or if they are, actively choosing to not talk about this grave, live-blocking issue?
I haven't experienced this at all. I have had a couple server recoveries that went well, I didn't even lose my mission when it happened.

Very excited for server meshing. Now they just need to get a bunch of social features added to the game. An auction house. Ingame orgs. A public job board. And more!
Is anyone else having the Error 2000 at the launcher to download? I set in a ticket and uninstalled and reinstalled but I cannot even d/l the normal version

It was still smooth for me however i am having issue when i am in my hangar i hear other people's hangar and it overlapped to my hangar
I've had some of the most epic star citizen moments since I started backing 8 years ago in 4.0. Definitely some bugs getting in the way but I've finally got a good amount of money so I can start hitting the contested zones hard
As always different experience for different players. Don't think we get a good play experience for everyone until the first 3-4 patches after 1.0
4.0_Preview, strictly in terms of FPS, has been the smoothest experience I've had in Star Citizen.
Landed in my hanger at seraphim and then got sent into the floor as my hanger merged with someone else’s. I got out my ship and fell down below the hanger where the ships come up from and backspaced to respawn. My ship was “impounded” and now it wants 50k to get back, what a joke. Not that 50k is hard to get, just really annoying when first starting, and can really be game breaking for new people/ people with only one ship. Missiles are stupid expensive now too.
I love the contested zones, just wished for higher fps in them and they key card terminals to be less broken.

Waiting for 4.0.1 on this one. I lived through 3.18, I'm good for going through something like that again.
It is never a ending cycle of SC. When 4.01 comes out, you will be waitin 4.02 again.😂
This isn't even close to as bad as 3.18
4.0 is great when it works. But certain contracts keep breaking at crucial moments. So, I like hauling contracts; going to pickup locations, loading up, flying off... But the payoff at the drop-off is broken. Have a happy holiday.
I'm "trying" to play 3.24.3 in order to get the save stanton missions done but due to the high level of difficulty of the missions for a solo player and bugs, I haven't been able to and will probably give up because it's just not fun.
I've been calling it Gaurdian QI (key) as in spiritual power. Kinda makes sense with the dampener. The spine on top looks awesome when on.

4.0 runs really nice. Great framerate with no stutters, but the lack of contracts is a pain.
I've seen a few, though the tracker permit one hasn't worked for me yet. It never shows the target location.
Hopefully, CIG will get it fixed soon. Preferably before their off for holidays.
Like a few people have said, the first few days went very very well! Then there was a quick update and now after trying a few days it is unplayable. I have not had a game last longer than 10 minutes without the black screen of limbo, can not drink anything or die, and my brother gets stuck in his hanger and took forever to get out of jail. The black screen makes me reluctant to play until they get back.
So far besides the occasional bug 4.0 has been doing good I haven't been back to a station for a week and just bed logging and everything's been working. It's definitely helping with the immersion and living off the grid
Same for me, first day was awesome. Then it started to brake down as usual after these bigger patches. Now its somewhere in the middle.
After last patch, i have only anoying bug that in the tower of the ship, my char just starting look straightup in the air unable to look down
Pyro ate my temporary Carrack and spat it out into the netherworlds. Other than that, a few things were down for awhile.. but it runs like a dream now. Loving every bit of it!!
I need to sneak in some more time to really have an opinion. The bit I played seemed pretty good though. But was just a few salvage missions
Had so much trouble with 4.0 preview. Game performs better in terms of fps, but had a ton of bugs and issues that make it very hard to play.

I think it was more of "if 4.0 crashes and burns you still had 3.24 live to play". Maybe that wouldn't be exactly how they would word it.
I wish I could play the game! When they combine hotfix and the original preview 4.0 I got locked to the server and now can’t join the PTU. There’s an issue council ticket, but I doubt they will get to this in a timely fashion.
Crusader is a little bit a mess in 4.0. Arccorp is running smoothly for all missions. If u are in Arccorp and not near Area 18 or Baijini Point, it might not show up contracts for bounties sometimes. But I do like the mission economy revamp for lower tier bounties.
The stability of 4.0 is still there. However some bugs such as missions, QT and comms isn’t. But this is progress. It’s looking good.
Been playing the 4.0 build. The bugs and issues seem pretty minor all things considered. I think the biggest issue I have found is that if you get a server error, while you do keep your missions, they no longer seem to be completable.
I just had a server error last night, it took about 10 minutes to recover which is a long time but I kept my mission and was able to complete it without a problem.
Its been rough but all large tech patches are and its expected. Im glad server meshing is on its way and i will wait for the polish
Loving 4.0, even with bugs and QoL issues, it feels more.like a game now. It's also good to see lots of other players.
Really liking the Guardian QI, probably going to pick one up!
4.0 is RUNNING really well for me... but I can't leave Orison due to a hangar bug, and I can't ask for help because I can't see or message in General chat.
Now when i ride a train or am at a space station there are a lot more players. Feels like its coming together all around.

Tried to play it again last night and there was no global chat and I couldn’t spawn any ships. Will try again in a few days.
It was frustrating to lose a full c2's worth of cargo to a hangar glitch, but it's otherwise working well for me!

It's weird that 4.0 is both a huge step forward and a step backward at the same time. But ultimately, it's still forward momentum. Good job GIG.
I’m really stoked about how they released 4.0 and how they left 3.24.3 up. Gives me a chance to try to get the phase 1 missions done before they’re gone
4.0 was insanely performant for me. Still is. But I've been stuck at A18 after one black screen bug that made me alt-f4, and then my hangar is completely useless since.
But hey, it runs well! I'm just stuck in a tiny section of a city on a city planet!

Was playing but I've been unable to summon my ship or enter my hanger or use chat since very early yesterday
I got the QI version myself, I couldn't see any reason to get the base version for the price difference. The reduction in handling I doubt I'll ever notice at my level of skill.
So will the move from aUEC to UEC happen now that it is EA instead of alpha? What is the rationale for having only temporary forms of non-paid persistence?
Overall, Im proud of CIG for getting server meshing in. While this isn't new tech, it certainly is groundbreaking implementation. Seeing more players running around and much better NPC saturation is so cool. Once they add more dialog and interaction, the PU will feel SO alive. Maelstrom, dynamic weather, new planet tech and creatures... im very happy with what is here now and what we have to look forward to!
I am glad they are running both builds so we can have a stable one to play in but still try out the new stuff
Me and my buddy were doing hauling missions and enjoying 4.0 then suddenly one of the delivery spots decided I was doing something criminal so it opened fire on our ship (buddy was flying). We died, my buddy ended up in hospital and I in jail... and for those who also got into jail you know... I'm stuck now.
The exit elevator doesn't work, you can't leave. The escape mission doesn't spawn as its probably not in 4.0 yet. So totally stuck. Tried different region servers, tried everything but nope. Did a character reset but it just resets your 3.2 character. It's hotel California, I checked in but I can't ever leave.
So we have Christmas holiday and can't play Star Citizen together because I'm stuck. If anyone has a working sollution, please let me know, but I doubt I'll be playing until they're back from holiday. It REALLY SUCKS.
