Honestly the scissor sweep is something I learned in like the first month or so of Bjj, but it's stuck with me for years. I've used in bjj and mma competition, and even once in a self defence situation. Great for Gi and No-Gi. A must have imo

Same here. Im now in a 10p gym where some guys literally dont even know what it is. Its all about the basics.

I’m new to BJJ 3 months in. I went back to the basics & focusing on a lot of sweeps.. I’m doing my first comp next month. On an brighter note, I swept a black belt twice🤘🏽🤙🏽!
Wow, this is some great sweep training. I'm going to get a grappling partner one day soon and this video is going in my training file! If somebody else would have taught these, we'd be here for 30 minutes listening to all the talk and wasted time! Kudos, amigo!

I’ve been doing mma classes for the last 3 weeks, the up and over sweep I learned in my first or second class but couldn’t get “up and over” untill I watched this video, and today I got every person in my class I’m in the beginning class bear in mind but soo helpful all I needed to do was bait them in and hey presto !! Please keep making videos like this they are great 👍

Amazing video, great detail and instruction. I doubt you're ever going to catch a hook like that in real life shown on that last sweep though.

Don't forget that if you get resistance on the hook sweep that the underhook on the right side can be taken all the way over to do a shoulder crunch hook sweep on the other side (see Gordon Ryan's "shoulder crunch sumi gaeshi"). Hey jeff, do you ever use question mark/Brazilian kicks? i would love to see a video about setting up question mark kicks and when to use them and other feint/fake out type movements and combos, i dont see it in your style much but a video on some of this type of trickery to land on and confuse your opponent with these would be nice.
I like to use the question mark kick after the rear teep!

Beginner bjj 101 simple and effective. Thanks so much for the tips, I almost never use pendulum sweeps or scissor sweeps as I don’t have much success with them (especially with heavier guys) but it makes way more sense when you said I need to bait them. Gonna give this a go this week now that I know you can reverse scissor sweep.

That lasso sweep was the only one I wasn’t familiar with, and wouldn’t it be my luck, it cut out on me! Still, I very much enjoyed the video. It just goes to show how important these basic sweeps are when trained enough. Thank you!

Great video! I am a little confused about the elevator sweep, what's the point of the if you are sweeping in the other direction? I was told by my instructor to shrimp in the opposite direction of the and get a butterfly hook in the opposite thigh of the to complete the sweep

How do you isolate or manipulate them when they have a strong base i cant extend my opponents arms or keep their posture broken long enough to even commit to any of these i know im doing something wrong

hey bro! I think the flower sweep is the same thing as the xande sweep, just a diff name. I could be wrong though

there are several options, try to scramble to stand back up, regain full guard, look for sweeps etc

Sparred my brother again today and this time it was intense and I was able to walk him down and tighten my guard, he was quick but all 3 rounds I was able to back him down into a corner and got some real good shoots to the ribs
