  • Hey everyone! Today we’re building a 3-piece takedown bow out of 3/4” PVC pipe. I’m using Schedule 40 furniture grade pipe by Formufit, but any Schedule 40 PVC pipe would work. The impact and UV resistance that’s built in makes for a bow that is stable in a variety of conditions and resistant to many of the accidental things that would spell disaster for other PVC, wood, and even fiberglass bows. A nice bow for the boat, RV, camper, cabin, saddlebag, truck, backpack, bug out bag. If your archery range is a bike ride away, this bow will collapse down into most backpacks.
55 pounds is about the maximum weight of this style of bow when made with a 44” pipe to start with. Check out this video on adding 10 pounds to this bow with a fiberglass rod: • How to Add Fiberglass ...

Here’s a video by the Plastic Pipe Shop in the UK showing furniture grade PVC vs pipe without added impact resistance.
