How do you set the joystick input to where Donatello is player 2 and ralphael is play 4?..whenever I try to play sf2 ralphael is player 2 which only limits me to 4 buttons
So this is kind of a confusing question because Ninja Turtles only uses two buttons jumped and attack if you're talking about Street Fighter that's a totally different ball game but all you have to do is switch the USB inputs on the Raspberry Pi there are four inputs total on the Raspberry Pi in each one represents player one through four so you can switch those out an experiment to find out which one is Player 1 2 3 and 4 and plug those in a cordingley and they will adjust on the screen exactly how you have them plugged in hopefully this help you out
What I don't understand, is why everyone goes with the amp? Couldn't a person just hook up a male audio plug, and plug it directly to the Pi, or would the audio not be loud enough?
No it would definitely not be loud enough and I am an audio guy so my cabinets are extremely loud when I want them to be so I just go with this particular out because it's Bluetooth that way I can play my music from my phone like a jukebox or I can crank it when I want to play games really loud with Bass because I also have a subwoofer in it
Yes I've been hearing that a lot, you can actually use any 2.1 amplifier on Amazon or Ebay just make sure that it has a spot for the subwoofer and the right and left speakers and make sure you order the correct power source it will usually tell you on the link which power source to buy usually it's a 12-volt, as far as the four-player arcade kit there is another one available on Amazon it just has slightly different buttons and joysticks but any of them will work the same way

Some of The products you have listed are no longer available…Is there any chance that you could possibly update the list??? I know it might not be possible but if you can I’d love to mod my Simpson’s cabinet!
I’ve watched this video and followed everything you did to a T. I cannot figure out the speakers and the amplifier. The ones you use here are unavailable on Amazon, so I bought black diamond coaxial speakers and a different amplifier. They don’t seem to connect, what should I do??
Should be pretty standard speaker wire directly into amplifier, I did find out much later on that these amplifiers end up coming not working from Amazon I would possibly consider doing a return and reorder

I don't know the exact measurements but I can tell you the one in the link I sent is the correct I think about the fact that the holes in the plexiglass are a lot larger than the actual buttons because they have to go over the buttons
Arizona's Arcade Heroes crap. i just opened the one i bought with the screenshot of the dozer on the vid. it is too big. in the beginning u when u talk about it there is text that says 'also 1 3/8. i think thats the right size cause its smaller. but they didnt have the 1 3/8 size with the drill attachment, just the dozer by itself :(

Hello I set up and drilled all the buttons, connected the lcd converter, raspberry pi, but when I go to turn on light on converter goes green for a few seconds then goes red. Also the screen says no signal. Do you know a fix to this?
You need to let it be for about 30 minutes then try restarting the Raspberry Pi otherwise you need to get the correct power source for the Raspberry Pi because if it fades to Red it is not the correct power source even though it might have the right connection on The Wire oh, I had to order the specific Raspberry Pi power source from Amazon in order to get mine to work on one of my cabinets
Thanks for you quick reply iam leaving it on for 30 minutes just now. So I ordered everything from the links you provided, including the link to the set from amazon with the canakit power supply that came with raspberry pi. So two days ago I tried it and the Raspberry pi worked and retropi and the retropi menu showed on the screen but it didn’t show any games or consoles so I thought I did something wrong and erased it and tried putting a new image. This is my first attempt and my nefew is doing the computer part of the build. I was gonna try doing it with the WiFi and transferring the Roms that way.
Hey, I'm about ready to pull the trigger and buy some stuff to follow along with this video - question about drilling the plexiglass, do you think a Forstner drill bit might be the way to go instead of a holesaw? I know there are two different button sizes in the arcade kit so I need to get the right drill bits to match. I'm excited to do this but definitely worried about cracking the glass.
If it makes you feel any better I don't even use the plexiglass anymore, I crack him 90% of the time and they are totally unnecessary, the underneath control panel has a high-gloss coating on it anyway so you definitely don't even need the Plexi
Got another one...I didn’t see you mention the coin buttons and where to hook them up at? I feel like the little white cables that came with my buttons kit (same you linked too but mine are simply 3-prong plugs on both ends, button and board) are not very long.
Also, did you end up cracking the plexi in the end because you definitely didn’t have it on during your replacement of the top screws. Maybe it’s on at the end but I didn’t notice. Mine cracked to shit.
Installed everything according to the video and as I was configuring the buttons the joystick would only read the up motion. Tried on another joystick and the same thing happened. Any idea what's going on?
Something is not wired up correctly, go through everything with a fine-tooth comb and double-check there is nothing incorrect, it is very tricky with the positive and negative wires. If everything is hooked up right it should work but sometimes it takes two or three times going over everything carefully
Sound from the back, cancels out sound from the front FYI... Also, the speakers are designed to compress air in enclosures, unless they are designed for free air operation, you might want to seal those up.
I am able to Navigate throughout raspberry pi menu and controller configuration screen but when I select a game. Nothing! Happ joysticks and non illuminated buttons except for coin buttons. Please help
Just wondering once you have your sd made up can you just make a duplicate sd card by copying it or does the second card also have to go through etcher also.
Every time I put it in attract mode it will load part way then go into command mode and I can’t get the image to load again. Any ideas what might be going on?
Arizona's Arcade Heroes. I retransferred the image did some digging in the setting menu of retropie found a few things in a quick google search and was able to get the image working very stable.... soon I will as well have a tmnt arcade cab modded. Thanks for the videos brotha they have been very helpful.
Having problems with the joysticks...they mess up the software if all 4 are plugged in at the same time. Let me know if you know how to solve this issue.
So assuming you hooked everything up correctly on the encoder, this is the annoying part. You're going to have to play around with the configuration of all for USBS on the Raspberry Pi, you probably have them in the wrong spots obviously there are four different slots I think if you Google which one is Player 1, player 2 Etc you can find the schematic online but if those are jumbled up the controls will not work correctly
@@arcadepickers1682 they work individually even if i have 2 plugged in they work fine i configure them and i play games, but when i have 3 or 4 controllers plugged in, they dont work properly. I checked those also invidually and they worked as well. Its only when 3 or 4 of them are plugged in.
hey man im a quarter way done and got stuck on something. how to power on the system? i wanted to use the original on off switch and saw a vid where the guy spliced and extended the joystick cord and plugged it into the raspberry pi on pins 5/6. is that what u did here?
I just bought one of those plugins that you plug the entire power strip into that has a remote and then I can just turn everything on with the push of a button
sorry for the bother. another couple newbie questions. when u drilled the underside of the controller panels for the wires to go thru, did u use the dozer drill or the plexiglass drill? lastly i am completely new to raspberry pi. bought a flashed sd card on etsy so i didnt have to bother with the downloads. gonna assemble the pi unit. do i just pop in that sd card and power on and everything will work? its a pi 4...cause in the instructions there is an initial setup where u put an sd card in and it updates etc. havent gotten my flashed sd yet but was afraid that if i put that it, it would get formatted and all the data will be erased.
@@311nonoboy so they answer to your first question leads me to believe believe that you might be confused about what parts are what. The Dozer is actually the piece that drills the plexiglass the step bit is the piece that drills through the wood, you will have to use both at some point to run the wires to because you have to drill through the wood and through the plastic to get the outer players to the inside of the cabinet then you'll have to use just the Dozer to drill the holes through the back of the control panel to run into the inside of the cabinet. I have no idea how those pre-ordered SD cards work but yes assuming it is the same as mine you would just put it into the Raspberry Pi and configure your controllers and start playing
Arizona's Arcade Heroes sorry got the terminology wrong. clear as mud now. dozer for plastic, stepbit for wood. thanks for your response. i will see what happens
When you first turn on the Raspberry Pi and it comes on the screen the first time the game loads it will have you configure the controls and then you'll never have to do it again unless you go in and do it manually
Hello..is it possible to use the same mod on another 4 players arcade1up cabinet like say..nba jam, golden axe or the simpson because i can' t find this version of tmnt arcade just the turtles in time one.
You can run audio off the lcd pcb it's about 6 watts total. So it will sound as good as stock. But if you want spend more money then go ahead and upgrade.
Tip here for those who are watching this. You do not need to buy an amp. The LCD board has an amplified input. It isn't the aux cable input, it is the 4 pin connector right above that. You simply need to cut the male aux end off the speakers and connect a 4 pin connector to that. The AUX wire has 4 wires inside. 2 black (ground 1 white and 1 red (left and right speakers). The 2 black go in the center while the red going on top and the white on the bottom. If you mix the white and red, that is fine. This isn't surround sound and all the sound comes out at once so you wouldn't notice if the left and right were mixed but thought I would let you know the correct way any ways. So you bought 80 bucks worth of buttons and now you have a crap load of extra stuff laying around. Look at your old joy sticks most of the come with 4 pin connectors. Cut it off and leave yourself some room for mistakes by cutting near the base so you have plenty of wire. Now all you have to do of course if strip the wires and connect them in the correct way. The color of the wire does not matter on the joy stick. You just want to make sure whatever wire is going to be plugged into the top pin is connected to the red and the bottom pin is connected to the white. The corresponding ground wires go in the middle. Layout [(r)(g)(g)(w)] If the 4 pin connector from the joy stick is too big, you can literally just removed the white plastic from the side of the pins on the the LCD board. So long as the correct wires are touching the correct pins and there is enough conductivity, it will sound very very loud. Just as a usual TV would. Hope this made sense. If you are savvy this should shed some light regardless. This is if you want to use the stock speakers. I can't really think of a reason why would would want low quality sound pumping out of nice speakers but to each their own. The stock speakers sound just fine and the LCD amp works great.
Thank you for the input on this as when I made this video I was very new to the process. So I am aware of this now. My only issue would be is there a place for a subwoofer?
I plugged everything into a power strip and plug the power strip into a smart plug that turns on and off with the remote, they have them at Walmart for about 8 bucks
Is the background music during the tutorial from Gunship ? Lol. But anyways, would I be able to make Leonardo and Raphael as P1 and P2 (respectively) to be modded for the more button layout ? I just think it would make more since because of the angle. You kinda have more space for hand movements on the edge of the control board.
Did you get the one plug kit where there is one plug for each button to the board that are white or did you get the red and black positive negative cords
It definitely is however I do not have any experience in that, I've heard it is very finicky and very hard to maintain accuracy.... what I do recommend is getting an RCA to HDMI converter then you can plug your Nintendo Wii into the HDMI with a splitter on the back then you can play any of the shooting games by we by simply placing the bar from the Wii on top of your arcade1up now you can play games like House of the Dead silent scope and hunting games with no problems whatsoever and you have several options of different sizes and shapes of guns to put your Wii mote in
One thing I didn’t see you describe was once you put the emulator with all the games how’ does everything mapped to make sure the buttons and joystick are all configured to the specs of the games? Is automatically or manually ?
Sorry I didn't include that in the video but you need to buy one of those plug-ins at Walmart that allows you to turn the entire power strip on and off with a remote control
You can pretty much by any two player arcade joystick kit off of Amazon, in fact since I released this video they have the new plug-in play ones that are way easier to hook up
Good details here! I have a TMNT Turtles in Time A1up that I am currently modding. Trying to figure out a safe way to power off the monitor. What do your power off steps look like? Do you just flip the power switch on the surge protector strip? Do you hit the power button the VSDISPLAY controller? Do you safely power off you Pi first?
Hey man, question, I noticed that you had the off/on and vol button wires going on the board somewhere. I know you're not using the vol button since you have the amp but what about the power switch? Are you utilizing it to work with the pi?
I actually don't use the power button or the volume button on the control deck as you mentioned the volume is controlled on the amplifier and what I did was plugged everything that has a power source into a power strip then I bought one of those remote control power on power off plugs from Walmart for about 8 bucks so I can just hit a button on the remote and turn everything off and on with the push of a button
Great video. Thanks. *QUESTION: What if I want to use the stock joysticks that come with the TMNT cabinet?* I notice each joystick uses TWO 4-pin connectors (instead of one 5-pin) and none of the encoders I've been able to find online support that. I really want to use the stock joysticks and not have to shell out (no pun intended) for completely new ones. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@@arcadepickers1682 Thanks for the reply. Actually, I've got some extra 2-pin connectors that came with my other encoders, so I am going to cut the 4-pin connectors off the stock joystick wires and then splice them with the 2-pin wires. Been talking it over with an electrical engineering friend of mine and that should work fine, I just might need to do a bit of soldering. At any rate, thanks again for the response. Peace. P.S. The stock joysticks in the TMNT cabinet are actually an upgrade over the joysticks used in Arcade1Up's previous cabinets and are supposedly pretty decent for the money spent, according to other UA-cam modder videos. And from my own personal experience using them, they seem just fine to me for what I need.
@@jadimich if you can do it that way that's awesome, usually people watching UA-cam tutorials don't have the skill to do something like that so kudos to you. Nice video. Question, wouldn’t it been better to make player 1 and 3 have 6 buttons and player 2 and 4 have 4? So this way, 2 players have more room to play fighting games?
I noticed that when you showed the game at the end the bottom of the screen is cut off, is this a fixable thing or is the resolution on games always off like that?

@@arcadepickers1682 thanks. One last question (I'm a newbie here, got my TMNT cabinet coming tomorrow), if I dont want to hook up the power for the LED's, can that just remain unhooked, or are they required to be plugged in?

My 1up turtles arcade is arriving in a hour, can’t wait 🐢
How do you set the joystick input to where Donatello is player 2 and ralphael is play 4?..whenever I try to play sf2 ralphael is player 2 which only limits me to 4 buttons
So this is kind of a confusing question because Ninja Turtles only uses two buttons jumped and attack if you're talking about Street Fighter that's a totally different ball game but all you have to do is switch the USB inputs on the Raspberry Pi there are four inputs total on the Raspberry Pi in each one represents player one through four so you can switch those out an experiment to find out which one is Player 1 2 3 and 4 and plug those in a cordingley and they will adjust on the screen exactly how you have them plugged in hopefully this help you out
What's the mapping sequence for player 3 an 4
It's the same as Player 1 and 2 you just don't do the additional buttons
Did you use a 1.5” hole dozer? The link goes to 2” and that seems a bit too large
What I don't understand, is why everyone goes with the amp? Couldn't a person just hook up a male audio plug, and plug it directly to the Pi, or would the audio not be loud enough?
No it would definitely not be loud enough and I am an audio guy so my cabinets are extremely loud when I want them to be so I just go with this particular out because it's Bluetooth that way I can play my music from my phone like a jukebox or I can crank it when I want to play games really loud with Bass because I also have a subwoofer in it
For the raspberry that you have does it play mk 1,2,and ultimate good on arcade or is it PlayStation version
Where on the board do you plug the coin button?
It can just go in any of the empty slots like the other buttons it just has to be in the same slot on all the encoders just like every other button
Several of the items are no longer available to purchase. The amp and 4 player button kit are 2 of those items. Any suggestions on alternatives?
Yes I've been hearing that a lot, you can actually use any 2.1 amplifier on Amazon or Ebay just make sure that it has a spot for the subwoofer and the right and left speakers and make sure you order the correct power source it will usually tell you on the link which power source to buy usually it's a 12-volt, as far as the four-player arcade kit there is another one available on Amazon it just has slightly different buttons and joysticks but any of them will work the same way
Thank you!!!

I'm planning on getting everything to mod mine but the 24v power supply link does not work can you send me a link to where I can buy one?
Please help
Ok ....go to my lets play sonic adventure 2 video then go to 6:30 Mark ......problem solved ;) good luck

If I buy a preloaded retro pie SD card, is there still software I need to download to the raspberry for first use?
hey man im a quarter way done and got stuck on something. how to power on the system? i wanted to use the original on off switch and saw a vid where the guy spliced and extended the joystick cord and plugged it into the raspberry pi on pins 5/6. is that what u did here?
I just bought one of those plugins that you plug the entire power strip into that has a remote and then I can just turn everything on with the push of a button
Arizona's Arcade Heroes thats a good idea. i like having the physical switch. so many options!
sorry for the bother. another couple newbie questions. when u drilled the underside of the controller panels for the wires to go thru, did u use the dozer drill or the plexiglass drill? lastly i am completely new to raspberry pi. bought a flashed sd card on etsy so i didnt have to bother with the downloads. gonna assemble the pi unit. do i just pop in that sd card and power on and everything will work? its a pi 4...cause in the instructions there is an initial setup where u put an sd card in and it updates etc. havent gotten my flashed sd yet but was afraid that if i put that it, it would get formatted and all the data will be erased.

You can run audio off the lcd pcb it's about 6 watts total. So it will sound as good as stock. But if you want spend more money then go ahead and upgrade.
I have a simpsons cab, will the same Raspberry work?
Yes
Does this work for the newer version?????
