Leafs look like they have every season before this one. A reasonably-good regular season team that is not prepared for playoff hockey. And nothing changes. Year after year, after year.
Or in my case, decade after decade after decade...after decade...oh, why not...after decade. Groan.
They had one job in the off season , improve the back end and they failed to do so, instead they got Klingberg (lol). Once he got injured they didn't even bother trying to fill the giant hole back there, Brodie has been awful all year and they're STILL looking for a right handed D man. Next year they're going to have even less cap space because of the Matthews pay raise and overpaying Nylander, so I'm not looking forward to that clown show...

Well, they made 2nd round last year. 1st time in almost twenty years. I wouldn’t bet on them against Boston, NY or Florida but I’d probably take them over the rest.

Bad puck luck for sure, but they still looked pretty bad out there for most of the game, especially in their own zone.
Hitting goalposts often means the goalie had the shot. It’s easy to think that if the shot was just an inch inside, it would’ve went in, but most of the time that just means it would’ve hit the goalie’s glove, blocker, pad, etc.
The posts are part of a goalie's equipment.

Anyone who thinks Toronto is at all built for the playoffs -- give your head a good shake. Leafs lose Marner and all of a sudden Matthews is quiet as a church mouse. They cannot even beat the Flyers. This team will be golfing after 4 games.

You're not wrong but it has nothing to do with them beating or not beating the flyers, truth of the matter is they flat out STINK in their own zone, constant turnovers, poor man coverage, don't clear people from in front of the net *cough BRODIE cough* . This is gonna sink em against any decent team and unless the offense is on fire, which is hasn't been of late, no shot against the Bruins or the cats.

This team has the most resources out of every team in the league, is the most valuable franchise in NHL by worth, has the Canadian sports media in its pocket, and nothing changes.
They still are an offensively talent team but crumbles under pressure when they need to perform, Florida is just sitting there and the leafs are doing nothing!

Leafs ball hockey isn't going to cut it as things get tighter. However, even with a grade A defense samsanov is not the answer,
Leafs Top 2 defence (Reilly & Brodie) is not a top defender you want. Look at other teams top 2 defenders. Reilly & Brodie is at best too 2nd pair on a good team. That is your main problem.
Now leafs have 15 games to figure out how to defend. Scoring is irrelevatn, just need to get down to 1 goal a game.
Keefe with a -12 with his homies Brodie and Reilly. Leafs need to use the best defense they have not the two being paid 5× what they're worth. Sad Shanahan resigned Keefe when obviously he's a boy sent on a man's errand.

Leafs are no-hopers again this season. Poor defense, which has been a unsolved problem for years, and Samsonov's inconsistency means a short post-season again. Samsonov is flopping before the shot lately, and it's been disastrous. And where's Matthews?

Leafs are such a one trick pony team, stop Matthews and Nylander and that's pretty much game. I don't think they'll ever figure out that a successful team like Vegas had balance, they didn't even have a top 50 scorer in the reg season. You need D and goaltending, yet the Leafs just have a few offensive weapons and as you see, if Matthews doesn't score they usually lose. Horrible recipe to win a cup and they'll get bounced in the first round again.
