    I prefer this narrarator. I'm watching less since Simon is gone, so I can imagine the opposing comments take preference, but if this guy is on permanently, I'll watch every episode again. And since it feels like I'm ranting now, tell that other guy to stop making such a big deal about his surname, I get that he was bullied in school, but we are here to learn, I could not give two shits about his surname

    6:07 This list is about the oldest BRANDS still available. Since Verners is still the same company, it doesn't matter if the recipe is the original. Buick is the oldest U.S. car maker still around. I'm sure the vehicle they make today are VASTLY different from the original vehicle they started with. Same with Peugeot. They aren't building the same model or style of vehicle today from when they began.

In the early 1970s, I worked for the Telephone Company. There was a White Castle near by which was very popular, good food. I do not like fast food or processed food now. Well let me correct some of your data:
    As inventor of the automobile Carl Benz (already heard a brand named Mercedes Benz?) would wonder to hear Peugeot should be the oldest car manufacturer still in business...
    regarding cheese you should know that in France alone they claim to have 3000 types of cheese - not mentioning the rest of the world.
    And YES a Weihenstephan IS worth trying !

    • @mattyt1961
      @mattyt1961 6 місяців тому +1

      Not the oldest car, but the oldest manufacturer. The Benz patent is the first, but not the first to actually put a vehicle to market.
      Benz patent - 1886
      Mercedes-Benz first car to market - 1894 (according to the MB website)
      Puegot Patent - 1889 (steam powered)
      Peugot first car to market (non-steam) - 1892

    • @eagle1de227
      @eagle1de227 6 місяців тому

      @@mattyt1961 Then you have to define what exactly you want to match. because the oldest car manufacturer could also mean horse carriages...

      @mattyt1961 6 місяців тому

      I would argue Carl Benz he was an inventor, he was not a manufacturer (no sales, no small or large scale production), it is irrelevant as Carl Benz is a person and not a company.

    Weihenstephan? Yes! I was in Freising in the summer of '68; had it---but Mein Bier Moy Bier (seit/since 1160). Both W--- and Moy are from Freising and they dispute-Moy claims W-- WASN'T continuous. W---- counters that Moy didn't become Moy until Napoleonic times and Moy is a French name anyways. Graefin von Moyeschen Brauerei Freising. You would think having the outfit OWNED & RUN by TWO generations of Women (Countess von Moy and then her daughter) might get them fame but during that period in 1923 they did rent out some trucks to Hitler's Beer Hall putsch and unfortunately someone took a picture... So in 1995 they change the name to Hofbrauhaus Freising which was the old name from 1160. However, Moy Bier has been revived as of 2020...
    Corbinian, a dark bier like a Doppelbock. Great Stuff, from a local hero, St. Corbinian.
    Now, did you mention Underwood, from America, as in Deviled Ham and other such treats? Old Registered Trademark, the Underwood Devil, close to 200 years old!

    • @UnicornsPoopRainbows
      @UnicornsPoopRainbows 6 місяців тому

      Depends on how you look at it. I just checked it and Buick Motor Company was founded in 1903. The owner had a previous company called the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company and while the chief engineer at the time did create 2 car models, Buick didn't want to manufacture automobiles at that time and was focusing on R&D and just engines, not full cars. In 1902 he started another company called Buick Manufacturing Company to manufacture engines for other automobiles companies and his own automobiles but only had 1 model and ran out of money, again. With a loan from a friend, he started his 3rd company, Buick Motor Company, in 1903, which incorporated Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company. You could say it Buick started in 1899 or 1903 and be correct but it's only a 4 year difference anyway

    Sorry guys, but the first A & W restaurants opened their doors on June 20, 1919, beating out White Castle by a couple of years.
    They are still in business, and you can still get a Pappa Burger. Just head over here to Lodi, California, about 45 min south from Sacramento and about 15 min north of Stockton.
    While you're waiting for your food, look around at all the memorabilia. They have stuff in there from when they first opened their doors. It's really kind of cool.

      @ToptenzNettop10 I actually live in the town of Lodi, Ca, and according to the people who own the original A &W the road side stand opened in 1919 and a few months later they started selling food from their kitchen window.
      Up until a few years ago, when they remodeled, you could pull up to an outdoor speaker to order your food, and someone would bring it out to on rollerskates. They would clip the tray to your window so you could eat in your car. It was kind of cool.
      I wouldn't actually say they were totally wrong, I guess. What one posts online and what the owners say could probably be taken with a grain of salt. If you're ever in California, do come by our nice little town and check it out. A good majority of the food grown in the US is grown here in San Joaquin Valley. Plus, we have some excellent wine tasting venues here as well. This is wine country, after all.

    What?? Where’s Karl? I actually prefer him to Simon. Simon is all smug and decided he’s cleverer than the writers, so spends half the video on his own tangents that only he finds funny. Karl is easy going and engaging.

      I used to really like Simon. I watched his TopTenz and then followed his other channels for a while, but the popular he’s become, the more of his own personality comes out. And he’s even admitted a narcissist and a dickhead. And the worst is him constantly referring to himself as “big brain”,even when there’s something he’s never heard of or had completely wrong later in the video. Not to mention him just blatantly belching on camera and stopping mid-sentence for a completely unrelated story.
      And don’t even get me started on how he has his mind made up and refuses to consider anyone else’s opinion. Of course every one thinks they’re right. I had to stop watching Decoding the Unknown because he just spends the entire video saying it’s BS - even though we know it’s going to turn out to be nothing he just stops every two minutes to say how stupid whatever is suggested in the script.

    We went from bald english dude, to english dude with hair, to Steve Wozniak. I'm so confused.
    I think you guys missed a few. There's a construction company that in Japan that has been in continuous business since 500 BC. Quite a few pubs from the 1200's.
    Footware, Peal and Co were in business from the 1500's but went under after WWII, but sold the name to brooks brothers right after. As a continuously operating brand run by the same family Tricker's out of England has been in operation since I think 1829..., I love their shoes.
    Thanks all I've got...

So he's feeling pretty run down lately. I love working with him, so I'd like him to be part of the channel in any form he's comfortable with whenever he's rested up.
