Id love if you could cover the influencers who brag about putting everything on credit cards and how so many of them are HEAVILY in debt and that the influencer lifestyle is just extreme version of keeping up with the joneses.
Why, why WHY do people subscribe and watch these “Influencers”…. Watching a few moments of their videos on Hannah’s channel is more than enough!!!!!!!!
@HannahAlonzo mustard girl (the blond with the curling iron) is a BIG scientologist and her family is one of their BIGGEST donors fyi. If you google “mustard girl scientology” you’ll see. That’s where her influencer $ goes AND she blocks/deletes everyone who even mentions scientology
She made that comment so confidently and I thought, "Girl you still are a regular person because I too have not figured out how to match my foundation to my neck." Guess the ring light really makes you think your foundation looks a lot brighter cause she was wearing a mask of it in that video
"this new house is 1000 square feet smaller than our current house" ma'am if my house was 1000 square feet smaller, it would be -300 square feet. It would be a black hole. 😂😂
They get a lot of engagements, both positive and negative...so maybe that's how the algorithm works for them. I also know that people do hate reading for books and hate watching movies they dislike, maybe it's partly that. Now, if the question is whether they have people who genuinely follow them because they like them and if so why, I wouldn't have any clue whatsoever.
Maybe it starts off with liking their content such as makeup hauls or organizing tips and then the “fame” goes to the influencers head and they become unbearable
I think it's fine if people choose to follow these folks on social media. The problem is that some of these creators are extremely entitled and ignorant..........and that we call them influencers in the first place - it's painfully cringey.
Imagine complaining about "having" to buy all new furniture and multiple appliances when moving INDTEAD OF just moving what you already own....that is absolutely blowing my mind!
@@gojiberry7201she strikes me as the type that would buy a historical home and rip out all of the unique original architectural features and turn into an all white minimalist hellscape.
I was going to say the same, imagine complaining about trivial things, like a comment above says her sister is a " pretty big influencer" and she says is such a hard working job because she has to keep her house certain way, and look certain way, and do add campaigns and is so tedious and boring process 😂😂😂.
I think being an influencer is like being the popular girl at high school. It's just a popularity thing. They become greedy, shallow, and they contribute to the materialism and waste of the planet.
that one car scene from Parasite where the rich lady is complaining that the rain ruined her holiday while her driver's house was flooded by it exemplifies this entire "trend" of complainfluencers
Excellent topic Hannah. Get the message out! Influencers are successful because the sheeple follow them. To everyone out there- STOP watching, STOP supporting these self absorbed influencers, STOP being “influenced”. Problem solved.
Yes. Sometimes it's not that their job is the easiest job in the world, it's that the amount of money they get paid is severely disproportionate to the amount and kind of work they do, because people be out here working 12 hr shifts saving lives but not getting paid even a fraction of what these influencers make.
I think a big thing with influencers is that yes, you may work hard, but it's a lot easier to work hard for lots of money than to work hard for minimum wage like a lot of people do.
The message at the end was completely on point! We freed to focus on and invest in what matters in life! It’s the simplest of pleasures that are the absolute sweetest, and the ones that matter at the end of our lives. ❤️
Influencers DRIVING and recording a video might infuriate me more than them being out of touch. It makes me so mad to see people completely disregard the safety of others, including themselves AND THEIR KIDS IN THE CAR. Ugh, I just hate it.
Something that I have noticed recently. The less money I spend the more fun my kids and I have. It takes planning, but that's the experience in it's own.
Thats very true and i think its because you all have to use your imagination. My kids always enjoyed a bug and leaf hunt rather than the soft play😂@Web19814
@@Web19814 My kids do enjoy big vacations, but you're right, they also have plenty of fun with the inexpensive stuff. Beach days are the best. Give my kids sand and water, and they'll be happy for HOURS.
I’m the sole caregiver for my disabled dad. I just lost my mom to cancer and am still paying off both their medical bills. I’m currently pregnant and I work full time 40+ hours a week. Hearing these influencers complain makes my eye twitch. Thank you for reminding me why I deleted all my social media 😊
"I used to be a normal person but now I'm a nurse and my patients always just want so much from me. They don't just want to be my friend and be a listening ear or anything. They want me to actually take care of THEM." "I used to be a normal person but now I'm a teacher. All parents of the six year olds I teach want is for me to teach their children. Whenever I try to tell my class what's going on in my life and how bad my mental health is, if a parent finds out they tell me that it's inappropriate." "I used to be a normal person but now I'm an accountant. It's so hard because my clients don't seem to care about my problems at all. They just want me to do my job."
I used to be a normal person now I work retail and have to deal with sh*tty customers all day. Have you got this .. have you got that. Just P off you normal people.
To be fair, influencers do deal with hate comments and cyberbullying from MILLIONS of viewers. That's far more than any normal person deals with and I don't think we can speak to how it should or shouldn't impact their mental health. But yeah, complaining to their "customers" (audience) about it is not necessarily the best idea.
New member here. You are so refreshing, you nailed it exactly. I’m 51, and I’m grateful for what I have, but what I have is not fancy nor enviable. I’ve struggled so much in this life, but it’s humbled me and made me grateful for what God has given me. Finding your channel, and hearing your common sense, is therapy for me. You are truly refreshing. The problem today is so much ‘me society’ no compassion for fellow man. Times are very hard right now for so many. Looking at the videos of some influencers is astounding.
This. I have to deal with a narcissist in my family who'll constantly reverse positive experiences into negative ones, like the one who complains about having too much makeup. The need for attention and validation through senseless drama is so childish.
Very true BUT you can remove yourself from social media or vet who is truly worthy of being in your “friends lists” and profile visibility. I still agree with you. I mean, social media is addictive and intentionally so, at that. I got off of it all bc of my depresión and anxiety. I still sort of miss it ten years later but then remember the way I felt so horribly about myself when I compared myself to everyone’s (fake) posts of success.
I’m a paramedic in one of the deadliest cities in the US. Between shootings, ODs and the really sick people we take care of on a daily basis… I might not make as much money as these people, but my life has meaning and purpose. I can also sleep at night knowing I’m doing my best trying to help others.
I love how "influencers" who are 20-somethings act like they discovered "hacks" that we've been doing since the beginning of modern civilization. It also annoys me that they talk SO much about nothing.
Thank you!!!!! It’s hours and hours of absolutely nothing! I just don’t understand how so many people can watch these awful people go on about nothing!
Haha recently, in my country milk cartons are sold again without the plastic opener to reduce plastic waste. So an influencer (around 18 years old) actually showed this in a video, how amazing and progressive this was and also showed that there was a QR code on the milk carton which leads to a video showing how to open a milk carton without the plastic opener 💀 and she tried it and was totally amazed 😭 I'm not even stone old, I'm turning 33 in a few days, but this really shocked me.
@aesinam Remember the one about "quiet walking" or something? This girl was so pleased with herself starting this "new trend" of... going for effing walks. Um, yeah. People have been going for walks since the beginning of time. 😂
Well wouldn't that mean blocking this page is well isn't she some type of influencer I mean anyone to me with a platform I consider an influencer maybe I'm wrong
@@veronicagates6779eehhhh, I would say she’s more so of a content creator or a mix of the two. But I think what separates her from most of these influencers is she’s using her platform to speak out and speak up. She’s not using it to flaunt her money, or how she’s better than other people, etc. if that helps
influencers seriously need to tone it down with the overconsumption, i hate hauls so much. those bins couldve been easily thrifted ,instead she bought probably more than 1k worth of bins for a PANTRY, a place that is hidden 90% of the time and that simply is there for storage 😭 like?? so unnecessary
@@mxgitsxne7335 no bcs i always see influencers saying they have "too much pr" like?? you can cancel it you know?? its such a waste 😭 hope they at least donate
Yeah, I will have to pay my rent 2 days late this month and I live off of oatmeal and pasta and, if I am lucky, eggs and beans. And these people be like this???
Genuinely, deleting tiktok and unfollowing accounts constantly trying to sell me stuff is one of the best things I’ve ever done. We often get stuck on how expensive overconsumption is, but it’s time consuming too. The ironic thing is that these rich people don’t seem to know what else there is to life but consuming and being perceived while consuming. I’m so much happier now that I spend most of my time thinking about the things I’ll do or create rather than the things I’ll buy.
Just want everyone who is watching this video to stop, pause and take a breath. You are enough. What you are doing is enough. You don't need the type of life these people are living. 99% of what they show is fake. You're doing great, and you're amazing. Please don't try to be anything other than yourself! You work hard for your money, and it doesn't matter what job you have, how much money you have, whether you're wealthy, or just getting by. You're doing your best. I'm proud of you, and I hope you have the most blessed and fulfilled life
fun reminder that the average US income is $40,000 a year and these influencers make $50,000 a day. I think anyone would literally kill to "try and be an influencer for a day"
Yikes, time to become an influencer. Oh wait, I look like hell on camera, have no idea what I am doing with any tech. But I can whine and moan while showing great excitement at some random item that no one needs. And for that kind of money, I could just influence for a few months and retire 😱🤣😱
I'm not religious but there's a bible phrase that suits the current 'influencer' culture. "They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see." These empty idols make their worshippers empty" Seems quite fitting
i clean houses and this is reminding me of the clients with these giant houses (which obviously is fantastic, i know most of them work hard to have that only exceptions being people who inherited it) and they'll be complaining to me about how stressed they are having to get the house ready for guests, when for them that just means hiring me to get it ready for them. of course, i'm happy to do it, i'm grateful for my job, it just feels so out of touch when they're standing in their huge house, full of luxuries, talking to someone making barely a living wage who has to scrub your house to afford to stay alive, and they just aren't capable of seeing how privileged they are to have the problems that they have
I am so grateful for people like you! I am disabled and can’t keep my tiny apartment clean. I remember how hard it is to clean. I try to be a kind and happy employer. I want the folks that come to my home to be relaxed and know that I care about them. Good luck to you.
Actually I'm usually pretty happy with women, who are GOOD at this kind of business, cause you may earn very nice amount of money (for example, when I lived in 1 bedroom apartment, my cleaner just bought new fancy car and I was really happy for her, even tho at this time I got none; same thing with hair stylist and make up and brow maker, awesome hard working women, love their successes )
I am also disabled and am so incredibly grateful for you! Please know that, for me, having someone who takes care of my (albeit small) house is such a relief that I can’t even begin to describe. I couldn’t do it by myself; you make it possible. So thank you 😊
It's not fantastic, these rich people probably work hard but a lot of other people work just as hard if not harder and will never make that kind of money. I hate it when people say that. Cleaning is hard work too. Why do cleaners and other manual labourers, healthcare workers and teachers not get paid more? A lot of rich these idiots barely contribute to society with their work. Who needs another consultant or realtor? It's not fantastic, it's stupid.
@@aichohvee there are a lot of people i clean for that clearly haven't ever struggled or worked really hard a day in their life, but i also wouldn't prefer for them to have to suffer just because other people have to. the whole system is very flawed and nobody should have to suffer and struggle, but i'm still happy for anyone who doesn't have to experience that. there's also a lot of people who have clearly worked very hard for what they have, they definitely are still privileged, not everyone can become wealthy just by working hard, but there are people who worked very hard and got very lucky, and are grateful for their situation and very humble. i do think that's fantastic, they always treat me very well, they're very grateful, they always tip, always very kind and generous
I'm not. I've NEVER been into social media influencers or cared or known anything about any of them. I just don't care😂I don't follow any celebs either. It's insane to me.
If either a doctor or a customer service agent suddenly rants about how inconvenient their job is to their patients and customers they'd get reprimanded and punished immediately.
Hell, the retail job that I work at told my coworker to “stop complaining and work his shift” in front of customers. The store manager backed the lower manager up🙄🙄🙄
Nah, depends on how hard you’ve worked for it and how much work it requires. Those who have had to go through the trenches to reach their success are way more down to earth and understand how fast it can all come crumbling down.
There are actually studies on this that suggest that as people earn more wealth, they may actually express less empathy than they did previously-it’s definitely not a cause and effect relationship and won’t apply to all people, but it makes me think a lot about what things people have to set aside in order to become wealthy (if they weren’t born into it)
It's called new money syndrome Old money doesn't act like this, this is baby money talk and it's honestly hilarious. The only people who think they are actually thriving, have never met an actual wealthy family. Baby money is really loud. 😂
This is exactly why I have much more respect for sanitation workers, bus drivers, ditch diggers and blue collar workers in general. They contribute way more to society than these ne’er-do-well influencers.
Have you read World War Z? It's a great read, and my favorite part is about how all the carpenters, plumbers, etc were getting really rich and powerful in the post-apocalyptic world versus the politicians and celebrities who were having reality checks. Influencers could be written in if the book was written today 😂
@@Thatguyjack758 You're very welcome! I hope you check it out - even if you don't read much, it's a pretty easy, fun read that is thought provoking at the same time. 😊
That's what I'm saying. I think people just fail to realize that when it comes to the internet, there is no positive or negative attention. It's All Views and it ALL generates their income. So the ones that watch just for a minute to leave the out of touch influencer a nasty comment just gave them another view and just made it spread to even more people. WE MUST KEEP SCROLLING!!. 😂😂
lol yea, it makes me wonder if thiS is just a consequence of human nature. people cant look away and narcissistic influencers are gonna keep posting their content
My dad works in the oil field. He works 3 weeks on 1 week off. He sometimes will have 48 hours with pretty much no sleep and when he does get sleep he never knows when he'll get called back on another job. And yet he tells us almost every day how grateful he is to have the job he has to support his family. These influencers are DISGUSTING.
My husband has always worked garage doors. It's a very physically demanding job. He also suffers from degenerative discs in his back. He still gets up every day and goes to work, without hardly ever complaining and is thankful. He would rather die than not work a real job, even being in constant pain. These influencers wouldn't make it in the real world.
wow, what a wonderful & hardworking father to remind y'all every day how thankful he is to get to work hard to supply for his family... these influencers could NEVER. i can't imagine what 48 hour shifts without sleep in that field must do to a person. blessings to you & your family
FYI… a 48 hour work week is 8 hours a day 6 days a week. Which ought to leave plenty of time for sleep. If he is almost not getting sleep when working 48 hours per week, i might question his extra curricular activities. 8 hours out of 24 hours leaves 16 hours for his own doings. Assuming he drives 30minutes to work, that leaves 15hours per day. Subtract 2hours each morning before heading in, and another two hours for mid-day and evening meals, and he still has 11 hours to sleep. Minus an hour for spending time with family in phone etc., and that leaves ten hours for sleep. Albert Einstein said he needed ten hours of sleep to function at his optimal state.
@@InTheMannerOfLove I don't think you understand the oilfield... That's 48 hours in TWO days... Jobs are for days at a time. When he gets called on a job (it can be any time of day or night) you have to leave and drive to the job site (which is a different location most times) which could take hours to drive to (we live in west Texas, and he often has to drive to New Mexico) You get to the location and stay there for 1-3 days. (he has to sleep in his truck) Sometimes when it's really busy, he can finish a job and head home then IMMEDIATELY get called on another one and repeat the whole process again. So he basically has to eat and sleep whenever he gets the chance to. The point is that it's unpredictable. It's not a 9 to 5 job. The hours aren't like a regular job.
Money doesn't but happiness, it buys status and that only lasts as long as the money is on display. Money doesn't buy class, self awareness, taste or happiness.
26:12 I subbed because you’re the only person I’ve ever witnessed online to use the word “classless” - no one ever knows that one ! Lol plus you make great commentary ❤
I blame the people who idolize the "influencer lifestyle" ive never heard of any of these people and im so glad. Thanks for bringing more awareness to this insanity.
The only one of these I knew was the Boston girl, and only because of other videos like this. Then I noticed she has some UA-cam commercials that show up before videos. Other than her, I've never seen any of these people in the wild, thankfully.
@@Artchick1972Is it really?! I'm not a follower of hers but I can see why she would fake it - to come across as "more real" and therefore more trustworthy when she reviews products.
Sausage girl seems like she’s kink-baiting so I imagine she does have some vile comments and mental health impact from her content. That video should have been a private phone call with a friend/therapist though
I am a physician who works with cancer patients...so I feel that people like this are literally living in a different plane of existence than everyone around me.
Thank you so much for addressing these things so gracefully and articulately!!!! You’re absolutely correct. These print are so very out of touch. I would rather watch someone be real and show me their struggle than show me a fake life like they’re better than me and that’s what I should aspire to. Thank you again for your content
i'm not on Tik Tok and am becoming more and more grateful for that each day. Why would 1 million people follow someone who dips food into mustard? That's the bigger issue here.
What I saw from her clips in this video, she is sexualizing it, that's why. It seems that she is eating food (e.g. sausage, carrot), which looks like ***** (you can fill that missing word 😂)
I can't afford groceries right now because I'm paying off a surgery... and yet they are complaining about how much work it is to put all their food away. It makes me want to cry.
I volunteer as a patient advocate and I’m so sorry you are having such a tough time lately. I’m not sure who holds your debt but if it’s a hospital or doctor’s office you should call and ask them to reevaluate your payment options. Medical debt is very different from something like credit card debt and most hospitals are more than happy to allow you to pay whatever you can afford as long as you’re making a payment of some kind every month. I’ve been in your exact situation when I ended up in the ICU during a period of time when I had no insurance. It’s incredibly stressful and it can be scary but lots of hospitals have a financial counseling department or a social worker who can help you figure out a plan forward. Wishing you the best! 🤗
As an Australian who has traveled to the States multiple times - I want to call out that influencer who claimed she booked a one way ticket to Australia. She can’t book a one way ticket to Australia unless she’s a dual citizen. To stay for a month, she would have entered on an ESTA visa waiver, which is a mutual agreement between Australia and the US - I entered the USA on the same visa waiver. A condition of entry is that you MUST have a return ticket booked at the time of boarding the plane. If she somehow bypassed the check at an American airport, she would have been flagged entering Australia. Breaching conditions of the ESTA puts you at risk of deportation back to the USA and if you are deported back to your home country at the port of entry in a foreign country, you completely forfeit your right to use the ESTA again - and have to go the costly and time intensive route of getting a tourist visa via the consulate rather than the ESTA that you can get online in 5 mins for under $20. Lies, all of it: I very much doubt she cancelled any of her brand deals - she would have had this whole trip lined up for months.
I'm not sure if Europe and US have different rules but you can just get evisitor visa in less than a day and travel without return ticket to Australia from Europe (certain countries ofc) My dad side of the family lives in Aussie, my sister visited just a month ago with one way ticket. But of course the visa stipulates that you don't stay more than 3 months.
I’m disabled and on a fixed income. I am saving for an ikea bookcase right now. Seeing someone whine because they have too much furniture to buy and not a single concern is the cost is just disgusting.
I'm the same and I'm minimal so I just have what I need no extras. If I can't pay a reasonable amount of cash I either wait or just fantasize about it.
If you are looking at the Billy bookcases and are in the US, Walmart has tall, 5 shelf "Mainstays" brand shelves that are the equivalent size and quality-wise (and the shipping is free) :) I am also disabled and just got mine built bc the Billy bookcases were always out of stock. Also, the tall 5 shelf is $35 instead of $69 Just thought I would shout that out bc I know how hard saving and waiting is!
This probably depends on where you are, but if ikea is popular in your area, and you haven't already looked, I'd check out second hand buy and sell sites. Ikea furniture is really common where I live, so I've seen a lot of people selling ikea pieces for really cheap or sometimes even giving them away for free, especially kallax storage units and billy bookcases (supply exceeding demand and all that, lol). Transportation is a big downside though, especially since heavily used pieces might not do well with being taken apart and put back together again :/
I recently unfollowed this particular influencer. She is from my hometown and I could no longer stand how much she said things along the lines of “my fucking kids” while blathering on her instagram story because they were “distracting” her. God forbid her kids, that she uses as a tool to make money as a “mom/lifestyle” influencer, want to talk to their mom
I once saw a documentary about really rich people and how very (!) different their lives are. One guy said that until he went to college he didn’t even had an idea about shopping for groceries. Or how to put things back in their place. It just happened in their house. You have to actually wash your laundry? Why not buy something new? It was then when I realized that these people do really exist 😂 I think their lives are as unimaginable to me like my life is to them. I know it’s not directly related to the realm of influencer insanity but it reminded me of that interview. As always: thank you for this insight I really enjoy your videos. 😊 (ps. My first language is not English so I got kind of confused with live and life 😅)
@@shealynnmichelleLol yeah. I would love to see me an influencer bend some conduit on site in 100F weather for 6 hours while keeping their manicure intact. That would be something to watch 🥹
@@tracie621 Nah, influencers will always be a thing from now on BUT the majority only have a small window of "success and fame" and then they lose their following and disappear.
It rubbed me the wrong way when she explained she needed 3 TVs so her kids couldn't bother her added on to the rest of the video. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable I would be if I stumbled on my mom complaining about how she doesn’t want to be around my siblings and I to her faceless followers.
Yeah that was so jarring and unsettling 😢. We ALWAYS stop and talk to our kids when they come to us, even just briefly, unless we just can't for whatever reason.
I HATE when parents “joke” about hating their kids or having to be a wine mom or act like they want to be around them or like them. I know the argument will be well are moms not allowed to vent and to that I say of course! To a therapist or friend or spouse in PRIVATE, not on the freaking internet which is forever. Her kids hate her I guarantee it at least on some level. But even if it’s a joke to the parent the kid is taking that in and internalizing it. It’s so gross.🤮
I work at an Elementary school in Japan, and it's the same here. Before this I also worked as a highschool teacher in Spain, and same again. At least one of my students here in Japan already has his own UA-cam channel and he's making content from time to time since he was like 7. I still remember my shock when he told me 😂
It's just a sign of the times. The vast majority of them won't feel that way when they're old enough. It used to be rock star or movie star etc. It doesn't mean anything.
Thank you for making these videos. I found your channel yesturday. It is so refreshing to hear such a reasonable voice speak about these subjects without taking an insulting approach. You’re so respectful but also making such important points!! ✅
We all need to collectively agree to stop following influencers, stop engaging with them, stop using their links, stop giving them views. These types, anyway. They do not deserve a platform!
Mikayla's video never fails to make me laugh. She's seriously like: "can you IMAGINE working untill 5PM?!!!" Yeah girl, for some of us it would be a blessing, there are people everywhere in the world working a lot more just to make ends meet. My husband leaves for work at 6 and comes back at 7 for 6 days a week
My dad is a retired Lt. Col. in the Marines and Fire Captain. He served 28 years, had multiple deployments overseas, and countless fire rescues. I never once heard him complain about how difficult his job was.
Yep mines still in and he’s at the point I’m concerned about his safety bc he cares so much about his job and wants to do all this extra 💩… doesn’t complain
Girl, you have quickly become my favorite UA-cam...dare I say...Influencer. I just love how real you are! You are saying all the things we are thinking, and that's awesome!🎉❤
I’d love to see them live on what I get a month as a disabled person. If I’m not mistaken it was Mikayla who complained about getting paid for a 4 hour “job” that was about $300 more than what I get in an entire month. They are so ridiculously out of touch.
This reminds me of a british show where two families, one wealthy and one poor switch lives for a month/ week (I can’t remember). So they switch houses and how much spending money they have to spend.
The fact that Jaclyn Hill wanted us to believe she purchased all that makeup is ridiculous 😂 girl we all know you were sent the majority of that crap for free. I can’t even stomach her content anymore. 💯
I'm just so confused by who is watching the second lady (carriage house) talk about her move... she's soooooooo boring. Watching her makes me feel like when I'm at a party and I'm stuck with someone I want to get away from. Why would someone choose to watch her videos in their leisure time?
No kidding! The amount of space that she is "losing" by moving to a slightly less ginormous house... that is larger than my WHOLE house. But, my life looks far richer and fuller than her portrayal of her life because I actually enjoy mine.
My husband starts work between 2:30am - 3:30am and returns home anywhere between 5pm-7pm, sometimes 7 days a week depending on the season. Mikayla complaining that she’s been up since 6 and just ended her grueling work day (spent inside the comfort of her home doing make up and having virtual meetings), at 5:19 in the afternoon, and actually expecting us to somehow feel any sympathy towards her is absolutely insane! My husband also never complains about having to go to work. He loves and appreciates his job. I love all your videos but I’m especially enjoying this new series about influencers! Thank you for all your hard work to keep me entertained❤
I feel your husband. I was an otr trucker. 14 hours a day, 70 hours a week, 38 hours off every 2-3 weeks, sometimes not even at home. I love that people can make money and still be home, but do not try to say your job is harder than the average persons.
Influencers promoting overconsumption while complaining about it is disgusting! Do they care about the future of the planet for their kids? Oh, sorry, they don't actually care about their kids except as props.
Scandinavian influencer who went on an instagram rant for several minutes about how proud she was of all content creators who really kept everyone entertained during Covid. And how amazing they were for the normal people and how strong they were, how hard they worked to make the world feel so much better during the pandemic! They worked so so much and everyone else could take brakes and vacations and now after the pandemic it’s FINALY their turn to have a break after carrying the world on their shoulders.
I live in South Africa and work at a nonprofit which distributes food to children living in poverty and if I think about the amount of people who can't even afford to give their children a decent meal and see the money being spent on frivolous things by these influencers, it just makes me sick. If only they could give some of that money to charity.....
Almost 7 dollars for black beans?!? They're like $1.50 at Walmart, why would anyone spend that much on canned goods that probably come from the same manufacturer anyway?
Exactly. This feels like how you can spot a rich person from a wealthy person, the rich people flaunt their wealth and the wealthy people hide it and are conservative about how much money they spend
Just wanna say, I've been feeling quite overwhelmed by the social media recently, to the point I questioned myself several times how these people do so well, having so much money, time and effortlessly living life to its fullest and in comparison how I feel absolutely miserable, barely having any moment for myself each day; Finding your channel today was an absolute blessing and grounded me back to reality. Thank you so much for keeping it real.
I have a wealthy sister who is this entitled and out of touch. She is constantly angry that I'm happy with my much simpler life, require much less and am so anti-consumerism. This was like listening to so many conversations I've had, sadly. How did we get so divided and far about in our values? Crazy.
I replied with a comment that was much too long so I deleted it lol. Anyway I just wanted to say I have a sister and sisters in law. I know what this feels like from a different perspective but it's still the same issue. It's jealousy. People often project their issues onto someone else because they haven't dealt with their own crap. She could be very unfulfilled or unhappy and doesn't get why the things she thought would do that for her aren't doing it, while you don't have that and are much happier and fulfilled. She projects that issue like it's your fault and is jealous. Let people hate, we can't manage or control that anyway and wouldn't want to cuz imagine that workload? No thanks. You just keep being FABULOUS, living your life being an amazing person. I hope and pray she deals with whatever is bothering her and becomes the good sister that you so deserve.❤ 🫂 hugs!
I really hate the way the second influencer talks about her kids like they are such pests. It makes me sad how people have kids and then think it’s okay to open express that they don’t like them. Why even have kids then??
It's disgusting behavior. Imagine being that child and seeing this content. I hope they are making enough to send their kids to a good therapist, they are going to need it!
Social media is not the appropriate place to work through your mental health struggles. Get yourself to a therapist. You're not being vulnerable, you're just over sharing.
We are in such a funny place with this. I agree with your assessment. I sincerely believe many people will regret over sharing and having zero privacy. It’s not always brave to share all kinds of highly personal problems with literally any stranger who is willing to listen.
The issue with it is the parasocial relationship, not actually people being vulnerable and connecting with others. It's very much the one-sided, parasocial piece that is absolutely bizarre, and seems to be commonplace in our society now. It actually helps to prevent people from being truly connected, a back and forth/give and take, with others due to the illusion of connection. The other part of this is people stuck in parasocial relationships have weird and oftentimes irrational expectations of the person they're feeling a connection with which also leads to a whole range of emotional reactions and dysfunctional behaviors related to those. It can even become a place of resentment where people are spending their time and energy hoping and waiting for people's downfalls. It seems to be either someone obsessed and gushing/financially supporting or hate/guilty pleasure watching. It's all so strange! Avoiding the entire thing by not putting yourself out there for any Tom, Dick, and Harry to start up a parasocial relationship/obsession with you where they start assigning expectations and standards to a literal stranger is probably the best bet. 😅😅
No money for teachers, firefighters, police officers, social workers, therapists, nurses, sanitation engineers, EMTs, actual critical careers benefitting society … I’m not sad to say that I hope UA-cam, TikTok, and IG become unprofitable. Time for all these entitled folks to get real jobs.
The worst thing is people watch them and it would be enough just to scroll down. I love content like science, languages, culture, history and I've never seen any influ of these topics acts like they have the most stressful life! They do they work with humble and respect to their viewers. I can't imagine being a millionaire thanks to people watching me eating a SAUSAGES WITH MUSTARD and then complain about it. Sorry for my english, it's not my first language.
Omg, I was just thinking about this lately what if all of the above mentioned become unprofitable, what then, real jobs just like the rest of us. It would be totally beneath them to do an honest days work. Some do work hard but most don't. They wouldn't last in a real job for the first hour. I would not care if all of these platforms just no longer existed!
Life feels weird. I used to envy people who could afford this kind of life while I lost sleep over how we'd afford groceries. I somehow feel richer than these types of people. I'd be embarrassed to be this vain. When did we become a society where we thought it was okay to get on social media and complain about having to buy furniture and to organize all our crap.
I definitely agree with this sentiment. Although, constantly being negative in the bank does not make me feel good😂 if I had the type of money they do, I’d be so grateful
i’m more triggered by this than i wish i was. i’m buried in medical debt because i had a stroke while uninsured as a bartender. i’m so lucky to be alive and money is definitely secondary..but being in massive debt you can no longer work to pay off is extremely frustrating. i lost about 50% of my sight among other cognitive issues ..honestly losing my independence by not being able to ever drive myself anywhere as a person in their mid 40s is probably the hardest adjustment. i just wish these people were more aware and less self consumed. sorry for the pity rant..tysm for shedding light on this 🖤
I’m so sorry. Medical debt is so difficult and add-in no insurance coverage that just compounds it so much. We need universal healthcare and your story illustrates that perfectly. Please know people are sending you positive energy for your healing and an end to your debt. I know this doesn’t really help, but I truly hope the best for you and more good things headed for you.
@@JoeMama-eg4zv you’re very kind and thoughtful.. i truly appreciate it more than i can express in words. compassion for others is so important and we often forget that there are no guarantees, we don’t know what tomorrow holds and remembering to keep that in mind keeps us grounded. thankyou again.. 😉❤️🩹

Aussie immigrant here: Fun fact. A non-Australian citizen can’t get a tourist visa and book a 1-way ticket to Australia. This is a very well known fact. They won’t let you in without a return ticket within 90 days. Why would she even lie about that?
Australian High Commission disagrees with you. Embassy dot gov dot au says "Do I need a return ticket to travel to Australia? There is no requirement to have a return ticket when you arrive in Australia. However officers at the border need to be satisfied that visitors, working holiday maker and temporary residents are intending to and have the means to depart Australia before their visa expires. While not a mandatory requirement, you may wish to carry a copy of your bank statement to demonstrate you have sufficient funds to purchase an airline ticket to depart Australia."
I didn't think about that when she first said she booked a one way as it wasn't mentioned it was Australia till a bit later but I should've cottoned on. You're right. So why say that at all? It doesn't add much to the story other than to brag she can afford to stay away from home indefinitely which was what she was implying and likely the sole reason she said it. She likely only booked her kids out of school for a month and that's why she got books for them to do their work whilst they were away too.
And she also said she was going because she needed a break from social media for her mental health and then continued to be on social media during the trip. 🤡 I really think these people think their followers are stupid.
That time Mikayla said her life was sooo hard because she wakes up at 6am and didnt get finishing with work til 5. 🤣🤣🤣 Like thats not a GOOD day for the rest of the world wth
Right?? I genuinely can’t comprehend on what planet she thought getting up at six and finishing at like 5:15 was meant to sound like an insane schedule?? Like I’d hazard a guess that literally most people do at least that every day!

"ma'am if my house...I'm dying, hilarious. 😅 I'll take the apt. over the garage for $500 please....I can't..😀
My question is why do people "follow" these so called "influencers" to begin with?
They get a lot of engagements, both positive and negative...so maybe that's how the algorithm works for them. I also know that people do hate reading for books and hate watching movies they dislike, maybe it's partly that. Now, if the question is whether they have people who genuinely follow them because they like them and if so why, I wouldn't have any clue whatsoever.
Maybe it starts off with liking their content such as makeup hauls or organizing tips and then the “fame” goes to the influencers head and they become unbearable
Wondering the same thing.
I think it's fine if people choose to follow these folks on social media. The problem is that some of these creators are extremely entitled and ignorant..........and that we call them influencers in the first place - it's painfully cringey.
Not true...

Right. I was like why aren't we moving all th crap we already own. How unhinged are we.
I think being an influencer is like being the popular girl at high school. It's just a popularity thing. They become greedy, shallow, and they contribute to the materialism and waste of the planet.

How so???
We live in a world where a woman makes more money than an ER nurse, by eating stuff with mustard on camera. The society freaks me out honestly
The way you just put that in perspective made me nauseous. Not figuratively but very literally. It's disgusting.
Yes. Sometimes it's not that their job is the easiest job in the world, it's that the amount of money they get paid is severely disproportionate to the amount and kind of work they do, because people be out here working 12 hr shifts saving lives but not getting paid even a fraction of what these influencers make.
Who else has an instant nestalga for the 90s?😅 Internet but no influences or social media
@happymelodieart It’s sad things have come that point.

I think a big thing with influencers is that yes, you may work hard, but it's a lot easier to work hard for lots of money than to work hard for minimum wage like a lot of people do.

Something that I have noticed recently. The less money I spend the more fun my kids and I have. It takes planning, but that's the experience in it's own.

You are truly refreshing. The problem today is so much ‘me society’ no compassion for fellow man. Times are very hard right now for so many. Looking at the videos of some influencers is astounding.
Narcissistic behavior is at an all-time high and we can thank social media for it. These people are ridiculous.

These people are repulsive to me. Good on you for calling it out.
As long as people are watching and supporting these ungrateful people nothing will change.
Was thinking the same!!
lol yea, it makes me wonder if thiS is just a consequence of human nature. people cant look away and narcissistic influencers are gonna keep posting their content
My husband worked literally across the country flying home for his days off. We too were grateful for such a good job.

Well explained 👏🏻
Not one bit of her screams genuine😂😂😂
I'm not sure if Europe and US have different rules but you can just get evisitor visa in less than a day and travel without return ticket to Australia from Europe (certain countries ofc) My dad side of the family lives in Aussie, my sister visited just a month ago with one way ticket. But of course the visa stipulates that you don't stay more than 3 months.
Thank you for explaining it. And hello from america.

I’m not disabled but in a similar boat!
Same, actually, complete with disability and saving up for thrift store furniture.
Also, the tall 5 shelf is $35 instead of $69
Just thought I would shout that out bc I know how hard saving and waiting is!

For real. Everyone TMIs all over the internet. It's weird.
Haha exactly. They’re online complaining because their family members are fed up with their whining and complaining and don’t wanna hear them anymore!

Oh no! Don’t give me free products and trips. I couldn’t handle it. 🥺
That’s what I hate about social media, making those entitled influencers so crazy wealthy.. what is wrong with our society
people recording stories or videos while they're driving IRKS ME TO NO END. WHY CAN'T YOU WAIT UNTIL YOU GET HOME??
i’m more triggered by this than i wish i was. i’m buried in medical debt because i had a stroke while uninsured as a bartender. i’m so lucky to be alive and money is definitely secondary..but being in massive debt you can no longer work to pay off is extremely frustrating. i lost about 50% of my sight among other cognitive issues ..honestly losing my independence by not being able to ever drive myself anywhere as a person in their mid 40s is probably the hardest adjustment. i just wish these people were more aware and less self consumed. sorry for the pity rant..tysm for shedding light on this 🖤
Not having universal healthcare in USA is a crime against humanity.
I'm sorry honey. I understand what you're saying FOR SURE. It's pretty sickening isn't it? Anyway, I'm praying for you. Keep your head up.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💯🩷
I’m so sorry.
You rant away! Life is damn right hard and impossible sometimes. I am so so sorry this happened to you, it wasn't deserved and you are an amazingly strong person for going through all this and surviving.
Ugh. Why am I not surprised one of these influencers is also just straight up lying? These people are so backwards!
This is exactly it. Just straight up lying
I had not heard of her until a few weeks ago. After I watched a couple of her videos, I am astonished that she has any following.
Right?? I genuinely can’t comprehend on what planet she thought getting up at six and finishing at like 5:15 was meant to sound like an insane schedule?? Like I’d hazard a guess that literally most people do at least that every day!
I wish I understood how that didn't end her tiktok career.
And she is in meetings from 12 to 5! Did I hear that correctly?
Right!? She doesn’t even have a commute so she’s at home AT 5 😅
