Good reaction and welcome back. Despite the drama with Su hitting the gong and collapsing at the end this was not the show finale. There were another 2 songs to come - 'Akatsuki' (unfinished version - an slowed down acoustic version - just Su, piano and strings - of a power metal ballad) and finally 'BABYMETAL Death' .... this is a special theatrical performance for this special concert (Legend 1997, the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday in December 2013, she was born in 1997) of what was more often their opening song. 'Headbanger' is about a girl attending her first concert on her 15th birthday, but 15 is when compulsory education ends in Japan, so she is realising life will never be the same, she is no longer a child so she is etching their special night of her 15th into her heart. Yuimetal and Moametal were both still 14 at Legend 1997 - and give a couple of 14 year olds smoke cannons to fire at a big crowd you just know they're going to have fun ... add to that them leading the crowd, making everybody jump and pump their fists at the same time. They had been keeping up this same energy for the whoole concert - this was the 12th of 14 songs that night. The Kami Band are BABYMETAL's live supporting band for all live shows since early 2014. They first appeared in October 2012 playing the encores in a few shows and playing at a couple of festivals as they were phased in over the next 17-18 months. Kami means god or spirit, so in the BABYMETAL lore (there is a lot of that and their concerts, especially the early ones, often follow a story line that moves the lore along) they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL in the Metal Resistance. That is why they wear the traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint (more recently black robes and masks). The Kami Band are among Japan's very best session musicians and can play anything. There have been many Kami Band members as they all have their own bands and projects and inevitably dates will clash, so they will swap in and out depending on their availability, but the same hard core of 6 or 7 musicians have played the majority of shows ever since 2013 and they are the ones you will see in most live performance videos. They have said that playing with BABYMETAL is where they have to work harder than they do with anybody else to try to keep up with the high standards and hard work of the girls. The bass player BOH also said that he was only ever given one instruction when he first started to play with them: "Don't hold back because they are girls. Don't hold back because they are Idols. Play as hard and as loud as you can." For the 2019 and 2020 US and European tours the Kami Band of the West (American musicians from Galactic Empire on guitars and bass, Anthony Barone on drums) were introduced. I will second the suggestions for 'Megitsune' for your next reaction, but there are no bad choices for next song (maybe leave 'Gimme Chocolate' until you've heard a few more and if you do it use a live performance NOT the official video).
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 Great song choice. 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!' was the third song of a five song encore with BABYMETAL's live supporting musicians, the Kami Band. This song was one of BABYMETAL's earliest hits. I was thrilled when they brought it back for the 2019 tour, and I finally got to hear it live at the LA Forum. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, the lead singer was only fourteen when the studio version was recorded. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than taking the train to see concerts like the girl in the song. : ) This is from the Legend "1997" concert, held on December 21st, 2013. It was named for lead singer Su-metal's year of birth. She turned 16 the day before this show.
Welcome back to the Foxhole 🦊🤘 You took your time to come back and you certainly did with the right song and one of the all time BM classic and most beloved by fans. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. This was at Legend 1997 in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are: - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad - "Babymetal Death", be ready for this insane ending, this is the one you're looking for an ender. The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan and it represents the summoning of metal spirit. The Kami Band here are glorious set of elite musicians whom were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists). They are: - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. R.I.P. - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling to upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday". - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. I would love if you can go with the rest of the songs of this special live concert but if you want another song that ranks high as a favorite you can watch "Megitsune" official MV, of course live performance is even better but the MV shows all the Japanese elements this song got and our girls looking so young here gives you a good dose of kawaiiness. Interesting what you talk about being hired by this group, in 2019 they hired a whole new Kami Band to performed live while on tour outside of Japan, all of them from the West and some of them are part of their own band called "Galactic Empire" and the drummer from "Shadow Of Intent", but the twist here they don't use face paint anymore, nor the East Kami Band, they use mask now, long story maybe next time. Keep coming back with more BM songs and enjoy the ride into the Foxhole. See you! 🦊🤘
Also here are a couple fun facts. BabyMetal is the first Asian act to top the Billboard Rock Album charts with Metal Galaxy. Also Takayoshi Ohmura who is one of BabyMetal's current lead Gutarists also plays in Marty Friedman's band in Japan lol. Unfortunately BabyMetal also lost a brilliant Gutarist awhile back in Mikio Fujioka who died in a tragic balcony accident. Mikio also taught at a prestigious music collage in Japan. Along with his BabyMetal duties and also published several books on Guitar. 🎸 R.I.P. 🤘
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Can you believe that this is the 12th song after 11 exhausting performance (and still 2 more) ? In this video, you heard the crowd shout some words at 03:58. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!" (addressed to crybabies in the metal concert). This crowd's shout in Japanese occurs wherever BM goes on this planet and whenever Su-Metal turns her mic towards audiences. Of course it did in 2019 US tour (20 gigs) and 2020 Europe tour (17 gigs). Last year 2021, eight years after this video, BM played this song in all of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN Concerts with Su's matured voice and Moa's more agitating moves. I witnessed it 9 times at the venue and was enchanted to headbang 9 times ヽ(^o^)丿
Thank you for your reacting to my favorite song. I'm happy you even listened to the fan cheers at the end of this video. But this was not the closer song at that time, it had more incredible performances after this one. Full of energy, yet sentimental, it moves me every time I listen to or watch it. I interpret it as a song about the youth of the 'Bang Gals' who once enthusiastically followed the legendary Japanese metal band 'X Japan' from the late 80s to 90s. They were almost teen agers and all really pure girls, but they were intense in X Japan's live shows. Of course, they were not groupies. Thank you from Japan!
Many other reacters could use your reactions as a guide. Appearently the window is just the right size to avoid the dreaded block without an overlay or pausing all the time. The audio is spot-on and you show enough patience to wait for the end. The old skol stereo is a nice touch too.
OMFG you are getting into BABYMETAL? Dude I've been secretly a BM fan for the last 5-6 years and wouldn't admit it to myself until recently I ordered two live bluray from around that period because they were 20$ each. Normally their stuff is expensive and/or hard to find/out of stock. Yep the moment you step your foot in BM it's hard to not be curious!!
I´m getting more and more in that Babymetal stuff. Most of their songs are not as catchy as their colab with Electric Callboy, at least when first listening. But my favourite Band of all time, Blind Guardian, is exactly that way. Their songs grow on you and so does the Babymetal music. I´m ready to dive deeper into the foxhole.
Pikachu in the crowd is a surprise waiting for the reactor to discover 😁 The story of the background statue is also the focus of this concert.😁 Waiting for your next reaction.🦊
3 stages of BM recognition: 1st: "wth/wtf..." 2nd: "ummm... Ok, not bad at all, weird in a positive way" 3rd: "Hedoban Hedoban Hedoban...!" "Rin Rin Rin...!" "Nai nana na nai nai nai...." "Ticotico ting ticotico ting ticotico ting ting..." "Yon! Yon! Yon! Yon!..."
Also my preferred period is the Metal Resistance one as they matured more and the slate of new tracks really added a lot to what they can achieve live. Their initial track set is more heavy than anything, while Metal Resistance I find more technical and/or more accessible music, still being quite heavy, specially songs like Sis Anger which is black / speed metal :P Sis Anger was covered by a few bands but I found one Spanish cover that blew me away ua-cam.com/video/18If3vkOdNU/v-deo.html
If you gets an opportunity check out 10 BabyMetal Budokan Live. Which there should be a CD of available somewhere. Unfortunately I don't think a DVD was done there but I could be wrong. I was fortunate enough to have seen them live at Budokan & it was to say the least Legendary!! Best concert been to in years!! Su-Metal's vocals were on another level & she played the piano live as well!! 🙀💕 🎹 You haven't seen or heard them until you see them Live. Ladies put out 120% every time and this concert was insanely good!! It really shows how far they have come between this here & now!! New album i suspect is coming maybe soon as they have been releaing criptic intro tracks which are sounding pretty damn amazing. Oct. 10 looks like the date to watch here. ________________________________________________ If there is anything Babymetal does better then most is their lead in to release events. You never know what to expect!! As everything ties into some future event or mythology. They actually did this once before with a genius promotion called Apocrypha The Legend Of BabyMetal. It was a graphic novel storyline which you have never heard before. Which I recommend reading if you can find a copy lol. As well as an Animated Series as well which also has it's own story arc. Babymetal is pretty brilliant in their marketing & keeps you engaged and coming back to see what happens next!! Anyways Pa Pa Ya, Road to Resistance, BxMxC, Karate, Megitsune, & The One are my favorites tracks thus far but great reaction here!! :b 💕
Yes the fans can be "rabid", but remember BM is #notacult. This concert, Legend 1997, was in 2013 to celebrate Su's 16th birthday. As she climbs the stairs at the end you can see "Happy Birthday Su" written on the bassist's head. Also Su's stick mic has a DNA helix on it which links into the theme of rebirth that flows through the concert. Headbanger has become a song used to celebrate BM birthdays and both Yui and Moa have taken the lead on it on their birthdays. The song itself is about a bittersweet coming of age for a 15 year old girl. She goes to a concert and her youth is emphasized by mentioning that she uses her junior subway pass to get there. At the concert she loses herself in the music and the crowd and vows to remember the moment as she realizes she'll be leaving such carefree times behind as she takes on the responsibilities of an adult. Immediately after this song Su sings a fantastic unfinished version of Akatsuki from where she collapses after hitting the gong. I recommend you listen to that next, just search on "Unfinished Akatsuki".
Good reaction. No, that was not the closer. There were two more songs. The closer for the Legend 1997 show was “Babymetal Death”. You should watch that performance.
I'm so sad I didn't see them live but was 200$ a ticket for nose bleeds and they were only ones I wanted to see, was with Red Hot Chili Peppers then so didnt care
Actually SU-Metal is 24 now and Moa is 23. However in this performance they may have been 16. Hard to believe they are celebrating their 10th anniversary already. :)
Next Babymetal song 1. Road of risestance ( live official video ) 2. Ijime dame zettai ( live UK 2014) 3. Rondo of nightmare ( Black night) 4. Karate 5. Akatsuki ( black night ) 6. Amore (live compilation )
As grrreat all thise live-versions and -videos of Headb are and all that, I still prefer the original music video over all of them = Go check it out ASAP you too if you haven´t! :-) :-)
Good reaction, thanks! So glad to see you back, guys. Unlike the "PA PA YA!" music video this is a real live performance both on visuals and audio. Plus this is a great version (very top) despite the glitches (I guess they were added on purpose to avoid some copyright issue). And yes, as I said before Su-metal is really good at singing while dancing. Yui and Moa have the hardest part of the choreo but they (usually) only have parts like chants and harmonies on the vocals. Your comment about being part of the band reminded me of BOH's interview from that era where he told that backing BABYMETAL was one of his most challenging jobs ever (and this is coming from a seasoned bass player, so...). He added that they (the musicians) have to give their best all the time just to match the girl's intensity and not seem lazy. This was Suzuka's 16th birthday party concert, Yui and Moa were 14 at the time. And this is considered a masterclass in crowd control. They are just amazing at that. Did you spot a Pikachu in the middle of the crowd jumping at the wrong time? hehe... As I already suggested you on the previous video, "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" live at Sonisphere 2014 is another great option. Very different: festival standard stage, festival audience, during the day time... only the girls and the Kami Band. And still amazing! See you next time!
Just a suggestion but you guys should try to react to the entire "Legend 1997" concert ( ua-cam.com/play/PLdBAj9hZ91wCao72oSqTMLrGpIDOqzR2Q.html ). The first track is a sort of techno-pop version of this song: "Headbanger-Night of 15 Mix" ( ua-cam.com/video/AbZcsD2KTTE/v-deo.html ). In any event, keep reacting to Babymetal!!! It'll be worth it! KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
This was a great video to react to If you seen the Gimme Chocolate video from this same concert, you may remember the skeleton band (Baby Bones) they used The Kami Band wasn't their fulltime band yet You might want to watch the Headbanger compilation video you get see some amazing stages and crowds
I think this is your second reaction to these young ladies and their world class backing band The Kami Band (the band is dressed as Japanese spirits). BabyMetal is respected by and have either performed or collaborated with the likes of Metallica, Slipknot, Judas Priest, Rob Zombie, Guns and Roses, Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others. They are legitimate. React to them LIVE instead of MV’s when possible as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE song/performances and EVERY one is different. They are fearless exploring other music genres and NAILING them I suggest for your next reaction: Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls Until next time.
Hi Justin! Yes, it’s me - Rob of the newly Rush subs! Since you are following this band, i have some suggestions…. (1) The Warning (2) Historical look at Shonen Knife, (3) some kind of AKB48 spoof, right? 😁 Honorable Japanese mention: World Order, yes, even though I enjoy Hold Your Fire, please don’t discount these suggestions! 🫢

Shaking the head sideways is the Babymetal way of headbanging. These girls are always worried that the audience will hurt their necks.
Good reaction and welcome back. Despite the drama with Su hitting the gong and collapsing at the end this was not the show finale. Great song choice.
'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!' was the third song of a five song encore with BABYMETAL's live supporting musicians, the Kami Band.

Welcome to Su's 16th birthday party. The other two are 14 and a half
Actually SU-Metal is 24 now and Moa is 23. However in this performance they may have been 16. Hard to believe they are celebrating their 10th anniversary already. :)
@@BlazinNSoul Doki Doki morning was released very close to Su's 13th birthday. MOA and YUI were 11yo.
😁😁😁🤘🤘🤘
Next Babymetal song
1. Road of risestance ( live official video )
2. Ijime dame zettai ( live UK 2014)
3. Rondo of nightmare ( Black night)
4. Karate
5. Akatsuki ( black night )
6. Amore (live compilation )
🤘🦊🤘
they have songs with big babymetal watermarks on youtube that are safer to react to
As grrreat all thise live-versions and -videos of Headb are and all that, I still prefer the original music video over all of them = Go check it out ASAP you too if you haven´t! :-) :-)
Closer, not even near it. As I am given to understand, this was only 3or4 songs in for 2 hour concert
.
I just love a music reaction that brings out "so many people, so many people". Thanks for clearing that up for me.

They are fearless exploring other music genres and NAILING them
I suggest for your next reaction:
Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls
Until next time.
Is it me or does it seem like yui is going to throw up at 1:29🤣🤣🤣
Is your wife also a musician? I’m a newbie (Rush) viewer to your channel, so i dont know everything thats going on here…..
No shes not. She's a mom. And a chef.
I'd get sick of hearing them after about 2 songs
wym?
