    Better put new shift cables in it. Go with the numeric cables and shifters.

      Shift mostly seems fine to me

      @@willscars yes, but if it’s on the original shift cables and cable ends, the plastic will be brittle. If the cable end breaks at the tranny or shifter or the cable its self breaks, you’ll be stranded. I suggest this as a preventative measure, not waiting for them to break. For sure you can get new OEM cables. Same with the coolant reservoir. Don’t want till it goes bad, cause they do. Also get a new coolant reservoir cap, the o ring in them gets flat over time and it’ll leak. I’ve had 997s before so I know what preventative things ought to be done.

    Lovely car, amazing mileage but that speaks to the rebuild. I paid a good bit more than you (I think) for my 997, without a rebuild and I fear that is in the post now... Regardless I've also changed the exhaust to a designtek valvetronic (the car had sports exhaust so it is a direct replacement and controls work as normal), all 4x coffin arms and front forks, I've also had to change the coolant tank after a leak as well and it's also the cars 3rd at least as the one I replaced was an aftermarket tank. I recommend getting your garage to do the exhaust. The bolts are a nightmare and I'm sure will be barely there given the mileage of your car. Save yourself the trouble (and the drillbits). Anyway, cosmetics will come good for you I'm sure and then you'll have a lovely 997 with a solid engine for many miles to come. I have pictures of all the work i've done if that can help you at all. Cheers!

      Thank you mate! How does the designtek exhaust sound? Once I’ve done the coilovers/anything else on the suspension exhaust is the next job and I will get an aftermarket one to replace what I currently have, fabspeed seems to sound pretty nice but I think a full fabspeed system is a bit out of budget 😂

      @@willscars I'll be honest I wanted good kit for reasonable price. I also wanted oem tips which meant not buying the designtek tips. I used dansk ones which look great however fitment has been an issue and I need to revisit that. The exhaust sounds good and the difference when you open the valves is huge. It pops a bit when downshifting if you're into that sort of thing. The quality of the metal is great though and the welds also imo.

    I would really be saving for a rebuild later on as it will be coming sooner or later I have rebuilt enough of these already 😅 I’m just like you 36 and got 2 911s considering I’ve never been into Porsche but I will never look back again as I love my 911 and I love everything about them working on them rebuilding them great cars well thought out. If you ever need help with yours just let me know

      Cheers mate! The good news is this one has already had the rebuild done by Hartech, one of the reasons I bought the car :)

      @@willscars very good :) that’s a good thing even thought I wouldn’t say Hartech are as great as people make out how many I have rebuild that was all done by them is unreal! A lot of people who ain’t that clued up about cars use them and overrate them not realising they literally only fix what’s broken and will shove every old part back on and charge the customer a fortune. When a rebuild should involve everything new inside the engine something Hartech don’t do. Just be wary of it as they have a thing about using recoated pistons which cause a issue and also the liners which they are always quick to judge the iron liners yet there own ones suffer big issues aswell and then won’t honour the warranty they will try and make out it’s something else or say it’s the way the engines are after a rebuild. Certain noises are normal on a 911 and you get used to them after owning it for a while 😂 take my word I rebuild mine and I never realised Porsches are so noisy and you can hear the whole engine so much in a built up area as I’m used to BMW which is silent and at the front so it takes alot of getting used too with the old sewing machine engines as I call them

      @BMWDoctor appreciate it dude! I watched the videos on your rebuild by the way was a good watch! Yeah I’m still getting used to the noises 🤣 the start up clunk, sounds a bit like a diesel at startup all that 😂 isn’t it all worth it though once the engine is warm and you can get a shift on! Mine doesn’t even have a sports exhaust but the sound inside is nuts! My latest issue however is a No CD Changer message when I click the CD button to use my dension device. Can’t wait to get the PCCM+ upgrade at some point 😂

      @@willscars yeah it probably needs recoding as sometimes the coding for cd changer comes off I fitted a mr12 volt dab , bt audio , and hands free to my factory pcm and it did the same thing I had to lock the coding in fully as it kept disabling the cd changer and mine didn’t even have one but in the end it stuck. Yeah I think a lot of people have seen my rebuild series 😅 especially around the Porsche side now it’s one of the best things I’ve done and I don’t regret it but buying them cheap makes it all worth while I mean the price garages change just to fit new sleeves and pistons and then they throw all the old crap back on is a disgrace and they charge £12k for a rebuild I rebuilt my whole engine and the whole of my 911 for that price with the control arms and coolant pipes all over I don’t like seeing Hartech and ln engineering rip people off I can’t stand it and especially when they put every rusty bit back on and then tell the person here is your car rebuilt what has been rebuilt? I mean I wouldn’t even put my original exhausts back on I went and bought all new dansk back boxes and headers just to make it all brand new as I wasn’t willing to put anything old back on not even bolts as if you ever have to remove it again it comes apart very easy now especially as I don’t store it outside. But on a bright note I really do love my 911 and once I get round to rebuilding the other I will be driving that aswell 😅 just take note from my videos my rebuild for mine cost me in total around £6k to rebuild it on my own just the engine and new liners and pistons and mine runs flawlessly

    How did you find a sub 29k 911 with motor rebuild?

    • @willscars
      @willscars  26 днів тому

      It’s a higher mileage example & has a few other bits that need addressing, in the UK these cars are often in the 20 to 30k range anyway. 30k plus gets you some pretty mint examples
