Porsche 911 997.1 Users Guide | Here’s what you need to know
The 997 Porsche 911 Carrera S is my first Porsche & for for many enthusiasts it's seen as one of the highlights in the Porsche 911 lineage.
The 997 911, with its iconic rear-engine layout, precise handling, and naturally aspirated flat-six engine, delivers a raw driving experience. It’s a purist’s dream: real control, engagement, and a visceral connection to the road.
In this video, I’ll go through all of the touch points of my 997 911 & give you an idea of what everything does and how to use the car.

It’s time for the most expensive upgrade on my porsche 911 997 so far! I have finally fitted my Porsche with a set of coilovers from BC Racing. Watch this video to find out if the BC Racing coilovers are any good for the 997 Porsche 911 and whether I think it's worth spending the money. #Porsche911, #Porsche997, #Porsche997Carrera, #Porsche911Carrera, #DriverExperience, #SportsCar, #PorscheColl...

Welcome to Wills Cars | My First Video!
Maybe not the best reason to buy a car, but I recently had to replace one of my side markers and a lamp in the "lower" headlight assembly. Zero tools needed for the side marker and nothing more than a credit card and a butter knife for the other. Maybe 5 minutes tops for both... On the other hand, had to replace a burnt out lamp on my F-150 a couple years ago, coose to an hour if I was lucky, had to dismantle a series of cowlings & covers for one loust lamp I just think it speaks to the engineering behind everything PORSCHE does BTW, recently went with the PCCM, definitely a bit overpriced, but a very nice upgrade Great vid, best of luck with the channel.
Thanks Richard! I agree Porsche engineer things so beautifully, really makes living with these cars alot easier than people may think, even for a tired old one like mine!
Thanks for the analysis! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Yes
👌🏽👌🏽
Cheers mate hope you’re good!
After watching a few reviews, I've not really seen anyone say positive things about these coilovers. Think I'm going to stick with the Bilstein M030 setup instead :\
I think, like most coilovers, they require a bit of trial and error until you get the setup right. I’d say I’m 85% there as a first crack, if I can get them to be less clunky & slightly less jarring when driving over a drain/pothole then they’ll be absolutely spot on :) if I were you though I would try to experience a car with coilovers, you’ll know if they’d be right for your car pretty quickly from the passenger seat even!
Love the wheels & the stance / fitment looks great too.
Thank you! 🤙🏼
Both of my dream cars in one pic! Help me out on this one, i spend 90% of my time beating the car over mountain/backroads, which one would be better for that? I could go into technical details I've read and heard but no point in that..
GR Yaris in the autumn/winter, Giulia in the spring/summer 😎🤙🏼
How about a designtek exhaust ??
Exhaust is 100% on the list not sure which way to go though, need to hear some in person. Topgear also do a pretty affordable system which I’ve looked at too.
Looks brilliant Will, it’s good to see you enjoying it so much
❤️
There is a big gap behind your steering wheel centre cover, you should check it out there might be an issue with the airbag?
I think it’s a common thing, the classic plastic & leather deformation from being heated by the sun 🤣 I’m considering swapping the wheel out for the one with no buttons on it anyway, think it looks way nicer!
Looks great!!
❤️❤️
Looks 👌
Cheers! I agree 😁
I bought my 997.1 tiptronic this year and have done 20k miles in it with no problems at all. Love it and this is my forever car. High mileage 120k but drives like new... an 18 year old car! Absolutely enjoy every time I get into it.
Love to hear it! 20k miles in a year is bloody good going well done! I’ve only done about 5k since may 🤣 the build quality on the 997 is great, I’ve had the same experience, only a couple small squeaks and rattles but feels as solid as the day it was delivered!
Hey! I live in the US (where 911s are insanely expensive) and have come across a very well cared for 2007 911 for under $20k, which is insanely rare here. Only catch is it has 180k miles. Do I bite or is it too risky?
If you can afford the running costs & have done your research I say go for it, I’m on 158k as of writing this and the car is doing great. As long as its been well looked after it’s just like any other car, it’ll work! There will be things that break here and there due to wear but that’s to be expected. Let me know what you do & good luck! 🤙🏼
red 124 spider looks so cheap
What colour is yours?
@ white
Nice, I wanted the blue but I liked the red too, there were non available with the black bonnet when I got mine too which was disappointing
it is one of the prettiest 911's. the 991 is ugly at the back. 996 not so pretty at the front, but the 997 works well.
Just purchased mine taking delivery very soon. Silver, Bose, tech package, etc. Can't wait!!!
Fantastic! Enjoy it they’re really fun cars :)
I love it my dream porsche is a 981 Cayman
I hope you get one!
@@willscars thanks God bless you
And for that money you could avoid all the new car bullshit and grab a beauty like this
Loved the 997! ❤
Great purchase, the 997 has definitely cemented its position in the family history of the carrera brand. Buy what you like, not what anyone else wants!! I wish i could say I have any of the 911's... enjoy your hard work...
Lovely
964 et 997 les deux plus belles 911.
Je suis d'accord, le 993 est un troisième très proche pour moi
No it’s not
Sad
Yes it is🙏🏿🗿
Better put new shift cables in it. Go with the numeric cables and shifters.
Shift mostly seems fine to me
@@willscars yes, but if it’s on the original shift cables and cable ends, the plastic will be brittle. If the cable end breaks at the tranny or shifter or the cable its self breaks, you’ll be stranded. I suggest this as a preventative measure, not waiting for them to break. For sure you can get new OEM cables. Same with the coolant reservoir. Don’t want till it goes bad, cause they do. Also get a new coolant reservoir cap, the o ring in them gets flat over time and it’ll leak. I’ve had 997s before so I know what preventative things ought to be done.
Nice chilled vid. I just picked up my first 911 (also a 997). Are you on the original engine still?
Thanks & congratulations! Nope, mine got rebuilt about 70k miles ago, some quirks but still going strong!
Mate, these are so well built. I've owned mine for 10 years and it's hard to part with it.
Considering porsche was still in its “cheapening” phase during this time it’s mental how well they are built aye. Nearly 160k and it still feels solid 🤙🏼
Why the doggy so sad 😢😢😢
😂😂😂😂
Oh ye it’s worth it 😜
Real 😢
Be great to share what the Hartech rebuild entailed.
Hell yeah 🎉
Never sell to online marketers
5:05 that is indeed my car! It’s a 330ci clubsport which I recently bought of the previous owner who had owned for 18yrs!
Mega! Dude its in immaculate condition I loved it 🤙🏼 maybe we can have a chat at the next gaydon gathering and you can cringe at the state of my car 🤣
20 years old and still looking so nice
Aged much better than me 🤣
I’m to tall to even fit in the car 😂
Nothing a hunched over bad back cant fix 🤣
@@willscars lol 😂 yeah tell me about it
I’m 7 ft 9” and I only fit in transit vans
@@greenbunnyinabongo7299 yeah my mates like that he’s part Viking 😂

That's a green screen

👀
I’m not stupid we all know that’s a green screen
You should be a detective
Really ahh thanks
What a lovely straight car, would love to have something like that on the drive to tinker with on a Sunday, kids mortgage and a mrs means that will have to wait
All in good time my friend! It will happen one day 🤙🏼
Great vid 👍
Thank you! 🤙🏼
The E46 looks to be JackTalksCars, he’s just bought it and I came across his channel recently, some lovely cars!
Cool! I do like a 330Ci will have a look at his channel 🤙🏼
Beautiful cars lads . But that 911 is something special . Ageless classic . Did you get the bore scoring checked before you bought it ?
Thank you 🤙🏼 I agree, but I am biased. The car has already had an engine rebuild so hopefully shouldn’t have to worry about it :)
@@willscars They can rescore, worth a check once you see you're burning oil or hear cold or hot ticking from the engine. Speaking as a 997.1 owner it's always in the back of my mind. Lovely video, cars and scenery
It was rebuilt by Hartech and they use Niskil liners which will not score
I love kimmy jong un ✨💕
How many miles is the car on now? Enjoy it mate!
157k and counting!
How did you find a sub 29k 911 with motor rebuild?
It’s a higher mileage example & has a few other bits that need addressing, in the UK these cars are often in the 20 to 30k range anyway. 30k plus gets you some pretty mint examples
@@willscarsthese are really tough to find under 40k USD. Very disappointing.
@@patrickjmoynihan we’re lucky over here for sure!
Another good video mate, can I make one suggestion though? You need to invest in a mic when you can, the background road noise drowns out that lobely voice an awful lot.
Aye I’ve got one I just need to remember to use it 🤣
Scenery is beautiful, I’d like to go one day. Glad you enjoyed your car there
New OEM centre caps might not match your wheel colour as they look slightly too grey. Note - you’ll probably need the concave wheel caps 2:35
Thanks for the help! 🤙🏼
