Mr. Torres has such a wealth of knowledge things needed as a live/studio drummer. Additionally, he very versatile as a drummer from jazz, rock and if correct Latin. I have great respect for Mr Torres and a accomplished DRUMMER!!!
This opened my eyes to Tico's place in the history of drumming and he's great! This despite the god awful mix where the snare is maybe 3x louder than the kick and toms.
It makes me wonder... The company set this up with him, determined his pay, made a contract, Tico shows up with his kit and the crew acts like they don't know how to mic drums? The snare destroys everything else and those splashy hats are ridiculous in washing over the kit. 🤔🎤🥁
But writing songs that sell is actually one of the hardest things to do. Don't be fooled by the 'simplicity' on the surface. The simpler a memorable hook is the harder it is to craft. The notes (and amount of) being used isn't an indication of how hard it really was to come up with. It's a gift that some people have the ear for and others don't. As far as I'm concerned, their songwriting is a massive reason as to why they are infact 'supremely' talented.
I remember watching this in 89 when I started.. "Listen to all types of music"& "Simplicity is genius" that's all I needed . seeing this today is funny because those drums sound very 88 LOL!
Tico is a fine drummer who was devoted to one band and thats way he is not well known but listen carefully to his clever drumming in the song " Always" and you will know his quality.
Tico was a well-respected session player in New York, when Jon asked him to join Bon Jovi. Being a few years older than the rest of the band, he already had a family and steady income, and had to convince his wife, that it was worth the risk to join up with JBJ and give it a go.
My favorite drummer ever. As a jazz drummer and being the oldest member in Bon Jovi, I would have thought he could have put much more of him in the band's albums. It's a shame Bon Jovi formulastic style stopped him from showing his skills. Don't get me wrong, I love the band. By the way, is that Richie Sambora talking to the dog in 41:04?
He looks like the carpenter, Clay Guida, fighter from the UFC, and he sounds like columbo,I like vic firth 5B, they say they have no bananas, and it's true,I rolled a lot of their sticks and never found one with a warp in it, regal tip sticks had lots of warps
If it was really your favorite then you'd know that it's "Living ON a prayer"!! I don't understand how people are too lazy to pay attention to what they write and post misspelled comments and typos. FYI, there's a convenient feature called "edit" to correct those mistakes.
This an interesting video, you know this is a pretty nice drummer. The only thing on this video its about those drums sound not according to his level. A curious fact: do you know the people from Costa Rica are called "Tico" as regionalism. hehehe.
One of the most underrated drummers ever. His grooves in Bon Jovi are unmatched.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TICO TORRES 🔥🤩😁👌!!!
Tico is still underrated.

The heart and soul of Bon jovi
I was never a fan of BonJovi but I always like Tico’s drumming.
The start of this video could be a Mortal Kombat - Choose your Fighter selection. 😆
Make no mistake, EVERY member of Bon Jovi is supremely talented! But you still have to write songs that SELL!

I'm not a drummer and I come to 1988 from 2023. All because I have always been absolutely in love with Tico Torres.
Tico: Call me, baby, standing by🤙
Tico always played with great feel and for the songs..
I had this vid in 1988 when I was playing drums!. Always admired Tico! A monster live!!
Video finally starts at 4:53 . The introduction of every guitar player is ridiculous. Get to the drumming and what we came here for.!
Great great drummer, guy, his humour and doggie are also cool..great drumming IQ...thumbs up
Grande Tico. Un muy buen y sólido baterista de rock. 🤘🏼
Thank you so much for this!! Can you tell me how the title is of the video with David Bryan, mentioned in the preview?
Long live the Bonham Old School! Long live Rock and Roll!!!
Great to see and hear Tico Torres!! Thank you, Tico!
Pearl Free Floater? I love that snare. Had it back in the day. Looks like the same one. I think it was 8” deep x 14”

He's not well known? Seriously?
tico torres and i share something in common. tico plays pearl drums and paiste cymbals, and those are my favorite drums and cymbals.

Wonderful,thanks for sharing this!
Tico the hitman Torres. 👍🥁😎👍
In the intro, Tommy Tedesco... rings a bell... didn´t he play for Elvis in '68/'69?
Always lived his playing.
Quite frankly I am shocked, I never knew Tico had all these chops, I'm impressed.
All the pros from the 80s had huge skills
me too ! whata trip
@@hotlanta35all the pros from any era do

Amazing tico.
Finally video got to the topic of Tico Torres at timeline 4:53
Peak Tico, solid and reliable
Use anything for percussion?yeah…. I’ve seen Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel,SYL) use a brass boat propeller on his kit 🤣
And also a 50 mm cannon shell I believe on Death Symbolic.
Love Tico .
He's a pro, covers the basis with a degree of competence.

THE HITMAN!!!
What was the brand of drumstick he was using? He forgot to mention it
He's a solid 6 , always has been
I agree, never really liked Bon Jovi overall. His solo at the beginning was surprisingly good though.
Why somma yall hate this banger?
Did he play with Cheap Trick ?
Some kid sent on $19.99 to an address out of the back of Hit Parade Magazine and this is the POS that showed up 6 weeks later.
Great Drummer🫡 Linving in a Prayer and Bed of Roses my Favorites Songs
If it was really your favorite then you'd know that it's "Living ON a prayer"!!

6:37 👑🔥😎👌!!!
Pure 90s cheese! Parmesan cheese even!
It’s from 88
Energy is on..not the smoothest but wow
And people hate on Lars Ulrich...
Damn - tune your snare!?? WTF!??
Sounds tuned to me.
@@arrowintheknee9956 You obviously didn't watch the video. He is talking about how Tico demonstrates how to tune the snare drum
@@VeronicaSchneider305 Or, you didn‘t get the „joke“.
But you‘re kind of right, I didn‘t watch the video now, I watched it 30 years ago.
@@arrowintheknee9956 the joke was probably funny 30 years ago too 🤣
His drum kit sounds terrible in general in this video. He's a professional drummer, and that's the tuning he thinks sounds good?
😎
👍👍
"We'll Always Have Paris"
42:36 I thought the drums were going to burst.
Enigo montoya on drums
Lmaoooo "prepare to die"
You are kidding, I hope.😮
Good gor tinnitus👍
Drum solo
He looks like wolvarine
The hitman
Leg raises and sit-ups...ok Ticco...got it...smfh 🖕
Fuggitaboutit…
Way lot better than Lars Ulrich Prime
Tico is overrated and fortunate to have been brought in by Bon Jovi. Otherwise, you would never have heard of him. He's a charity subject.
For a "professional drummer" his drums sound like crap.
Ugh
That kit sounds awful, nothing like him on the records. Wasn't really impressed by his solo, but the awful drum sound didn't help.
This is a damn waste of time, good musician, bad video, horrible sound.
Boring!
This is not tico Torres
He introduces himself in 9:23.
