What a great vid! Personally I had no idea that the music cutting out was unintentional. I've had it happen to me before and I thought it was meant for home run hits so you could hear the ball whistling through the air as it soars to the stands.
I had no idea that Wario trying to blow the ball over the foul line in the opening was based on an actual event in Major League Baseball. Imagine being not only so desperate to win that you clearly cheat, but over a decade later a game company animates one of their characters that's known for doing any petty action he can to try to win any competition just doing the exact same thing you did. That's really cold but also makes the gag even funnier.
As much as it is cheating, (no technicalities about it), I feel like in that particular instance, it’s more ingenious rather than desperate. Lenny Wilkins was actually a standup comic at the time as well, so perhaps he did it for a goof more than anything.
Correction: Koopa and Parakoopa do not have hidden wall jump animations like Noki. Instead, they have hidden clamber animations that can be accessed and viewed the same way as Noki’s wall jump. All the same, this is a great video guys! Lots of really fun depth here. Excellent work!
Hey guys I think you really have something here! Watching your vids is a blast. I would love to see a vid on how to start a local community for this game. Smash 64 got really big because some guy in Baltimore put like a Craigslist ad or a flyer in a bar, and then it took off nationally because people really enjoyed the content. Well you guys seem like the genesis of the same thing for Mario Baseball. So maybe you could make like a tutorial for how to run rulesets and rosters, and are running on a Wii with Nintendont, and are mods a thing (maybe there is/will be a mod worth standardizing?) and also advice on what the netplay situation is. Idk just trying to give advice sort of bc I think this whole thing is primed to become big, people are really interested but kind of lazy so they need the help! I’m one of those people lol One thing I will add is you guys have super enjoyable commentary and it makes me want to find a way to start a local scene. I’m in St. Louis which is probably big enough to pull that off.
1:53 when my brothers and I played this growing up, we didn't abide by any drafting rules, just picked characters as quickly as possible. We all valued Power characters a little too much, and for the most part I didn't get that many too often. I'd get stuck with Pianta and King Boo quite often as they were usually the ones leftover. With this in mind, I actually really liked Red Pianta a lot. I couldn't hit with him consistently, but home runs were still brought in by the big lug. That and as an infielder he had a nice throw. Glad the "how wrong we were" implies that he is viewed as pretty good now, cause I definitely got to see the value of this guy myself a while back now.
Hell yeah great job Nick, Coaks and everyone else who helped. Learned a lot from it. Wish I could have been there to see Lionel take down Gabe in that infamous grudge match. Props to City Hall for being a Dinger City champion too. Hope the developers of this game see this someday.
There’s a thing where on dk’s field if you get bit by a crocodile on the field and switch the player who got bit by the croc to pitcher the crocodile will be attached to the pitcher while pitching
Going a little into the "Diddy is a bad fielder" part, the manual even shows his fielding stats to be above average, tied with running. You gave me a massive flashback when you brought up the manual, I always thought those parts were weird as a kid.
Thank you thank you thank you for this video! To hear all the technical explanations for all the little quirks and glitches in this game was super cool. I have been playing this game since childhood and recently got back into it with buddies I recently moved in with. We've been having so much fun with it!
Amazing video, this must've been made by the coolest cat in Dinger City. Wait.... it was made by CritNick?? Oh well at least the video is still awesome 👍
this is such an awesome vid i love it!!!! super in depth and educational-especially for newer people to the community (and girlies who don’t know some terminology like me LOL) but there’s so much info here that’s so fascinating!!!! the commercials are so cursed but so hilarious!!! overall wonderful video besties :))
The same thing with Yoshi Crybaby applies to Bowser too with calling him Fatso because since Wario is right after Bowser and "Fatso" is Wario's beginner title in the game so once Bowser becomes a star character, he also gets the incorrect title.
Ive done this a couple times as a kid butyou can make a homerun without charging a swing. If you guys can figure it out, that would be awesome. Even the cpu has done it to me. Specifically Noki and Pianta. That's how I found out about it. There were no trails when the ball was launched.
Yet another example of large content creators steam-rolling right over the little guys, stealing ideas without remorse nor reprehension… Jokes aside, I was happy to be a part in making this and am glad that someone made a real iceberg.
Bro honestly sluggers is such an overhated for no reason i love both games i played sluggers before superstar baseball and i thought it was really good but i understand and respect other people's opinion
I know that you may not want to pick fights over Sluggers, but are there any widely disliked changes beyond the compatibility stuff, or is it simply too game-breaking?
I choose to think the Luigi Resistance started up because all the sidekicks were worried about Peaching blowing up their cars as well.

This is a certified Mario Superstar Baseball Club classic

Nintendo also owned the team that did it at the time that this game was made
I believe it was made a rule after

Yo. This is peachbeach. That video was awesome. Y’all are awesome. So glad I found this community and can’t wait for STARS ON to be the new meta
Gonna be waiting a long time, stars off is simply more competitive

Great video! Was about surprised at how many facts I didn't know about

Was not expecting to be captivated for 30 minutes. Well done guys.
This is so well made, I think Sluggers isn’t a curse game, I think I really like it because it has my favorite characters
Almost doubled subs in 2 weeks we love to see it
Learned a lot through this, this was so awesome to see!
Dinger City doesn't miss (Until Netplay bracket)
Great stuff! Took ya long enough ;)
Congratulations on getting this video out. It must have taken a ton of work and time.
28:22 That Mystery Character looks alot like Robo Mario from that one Mario and Pacman Kart game, I could be wrong lol
I needed this like the human body needs water
I'M GONNA SINK

This was such a cool video! Really interesting game data information and honestly really cool to get background on community history.

This is so dope. I had no idea any of this existed, the data mining on this game is incredible. You guys are awesome!
I always used Pianta on my team since I'm a kid. I thought he was amazing I'm shocked to hear people thought he's bad.

this was awesome!
I hate the music glitch but I always have it consistently when I play Mario stadium on my gamecube
Awwww yeahhh baby I needed this, it’s fun to see how many things I already knew like Yoshi Crybaby
