@@Gallalad1 As an American who likes thoroughly taught history, good idea! Not a lot of Americans talk about USA-backed dictators. As far as many Americans are concerned, the USA spent the whole Cold War liberating foreign countries from Red dictatorships. However, this narrative not only confuses political systems with economic systems (why some Americans think capitalism is always democracy, and socialism always not; also why there aren't too many American socialists, and even those who claim to be socialist are merely social democratic), but this narrative leaves out the fact that a lot of the American-backed regime change of the Cold War was from democracy to dictatorship, or dictatorship to dictatorship. Therefore, a song about USA-backed dictators would be an interesting listen.

If I do such a series (on this channel), I will dedicate a full episode to analyzing US involvement in regime change during the Cold War to see whether it fits US history's own "Someone's gonna get liberated!" narrative! For instance, although South Vietnam was more democratic than North Vietnam (the "Democratic Republic of Vietnam") for most of it's 1955 to 1975 history, it was a military junta from 1963 to 1967. That sure doesn't make the Vietnam War any better than the already negative pop-culture image of the Vietnam War. Unfortunately for Hollywood, the same thing goes for more patriotic conflicts involving the US during the Cold War.

Yes: the USSR was a form of socialism trying to be communist, hence why the state is a "Union of Soviet _Socialist_ Republics", but the Party is the _"Communist_ Party of the Soviet Union". However, the word "communism" is usually used to refer to the socialism that makes full communism, as opposed to the property-less communism itself. So, in one way, the Soviet Union was communist (as in "the Marxist socialism creating a property-free economy"), but in another way, it was merely socialist moving towards communism (as in "a property-free economy").
