If you guys like the visual feel of this movie you should really check out Valerian city of a thousand planets. It had the same vfx and animation studio work on it and is visual masterpiece.

@@whitenoisereacts I think the forced template of heroism you placed on Arthur was just little too much. He saves the innocent when possible and puts down those that do harm. He put down all the pirates in the beginning, but left no one dead. Nothing more, nothing less. Black Manta's father brought on his own death of possible drowning by trying to still take out Arthur and instead blowing a hole in the hull. Plus, there's no winners in that toxic Depp-Heard relationship to take sides, so only concerned about acting side of the business since she's still involved in A2 at the moment.
Even the first time I saw this, knowing nothing of Aquaman beforehand, my immediate response to that line was, "Isn't that exactly what he just did?"
loved the everyone jokes on aquaman being able to talk to fish, and James Wan made it THE characteristic that makes him the true king
And that's the best plot element of this movie cause we never saw other characters interacting with sea creatures other than Arthur.

I know the dialogs and script isn't that well made, but James Wan is a genius and directed the movie in a brilliant way. The fights scenes with sequences shots, not cut is amazing. The visuals are great too

The Sun tho, a shitty "independant" newspaper won their case against JD, because medias being such a precious and independant thing (haha no) they're basically untouchable. Ironic how the Judge's ruling is already mostly inaccurate since it's been proven that most of his conclusions were biased: "I believe Miss Heard never lied" = oops, she's being investigated for perjury by the LAPD. "I believe Miss Heard donated the divorce settlement money to charities" = oops, proof she didn't.
But- yknow, whatever floats your boat, the world needs ignorant people. (To make it simpler: it's super hard - nearly impossible - to prove that a newspaper WILLINGLY published a fake story about you to ruin your career (especially when the author of the article himself doesn't have the guts to testify), that's why JD lost his trial against The Sun). Court convering a newspaper =/= court siding with Amber Heard and her evidences, especially since it was not the Judge's job to analyze Amber Heard's evidences since it wasn't a trial about her, she was just a witness there.

Depp isn't a saint himself but there have been a lot of evidences that Heard is an abuser. It's okay to feel awkward/uncomfortable with Meera.
I feel awkward having her working with one of my favorite actors, whom she bullied during the entire press tour for Aquaman (not to mention, cyberbullied his step-daughter). The whole cast and crew of this movie deserves better than having to work with her.

If Katherine Heigl lost her uppity status for being hard and demanding to work with, surely Heard who hasn't even reached Heigl's peak would soon flop for being much, much worse.
There was also an incident on the Aquaman 2 set where amber heard used a prop with the safety tip removed and hit Jason mamoa in the eye with it and they had to pause shooting to take care of that.
I'd be down for you both to watch the dc animated movies but it can be a mixed bag.

One of my favourite DC movies allong with Zach Snyder's Justice League .all James actually nailed it by going straight for the comics inspiration like Zach did on his movies .Zach and James are the best DC directors I have seen .loved this movie .it also showed what Aquaman really is , and shoed it to those who said Aquaman is lame

There are a lot of nay sayers out there but Aquaman is one of the better DC films-- Its a good balance between fun and serious, which is another reason when Birds of Prey and Shazam are also amongst the better DC films.

Jason Momoa is a BADASS Aquaman, I mean, Wan made Momoa wear the classic green and orange suit, mounted on a seahorse, to be an awesome thing and as a fan of the character I'm really glad about this, Zack Snyder for sure knows how to choose a cast.
Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman and Patrick Wilson were great at their roles as well, Orm by the way is the best DCEU villain since Zod in Man Of Steel
The visuals, cinematography, costumes, action scenes, camera work, soundtrack, all of this is just outstanding, Atlantis is a delight for the eyes. James Wan and all the cast did an incredible job.
My only problem with the film is some of the dialogues and the humor of the film is too juvenile and sometimes pretty silly for my taste, if they improved it a little more that particular aspect this would be one of my favorite super hero films of the decade, but nonetheless it's a simple, fun and beautiful adventure with kickass action and gorgeous visuals
Yeah, I think they were trying a bit too hard to be Marvel and I’m hoping in the sequel they are a little more confident with approaching the story from a serious level

James, you made my heart so happy when you said you wanna do Dark Knight Returns. I vote yes :) To me, this two-part film is one of thee best Batman animated movies ever!! Please do the animated universe. Please please. There are so many movies. The new 52 starting with Flashpoint Paradox and ending with Justice League Dark: Apokolips Waher and there is a new DC animated movie named Justice Society which was dope. There are over 40 animated films, not including the showcases. Maybe start with new 52 for now and then see how that goes?? ;9

My favorite DC character would have to be Beast Boy thanks to teen Titans😂 but im also a huge fan of flash. You guys should definitely check out the original Teen Titans or Justice league or both. Even if you don't react to it on your channel, they're well worth the watch.

0:25 Speaking of billion dollar big budget features, James Wan's first blockbuster was Furious 7. Don't know if you've seen the Fast series but it is a ridiculous amount of fun. Fun fact: he also produced the 2021 Mortal Kombat film you just watched. He finally gets to merge his experience with blood and guts with the big films.
0:40 Have you guys posted Shazam! yet? Interesting you mentioned watching the DCEU in chronological order when Shazam! came out after Aquaman and you skipped Suicide Squad. While not everyone's favorite, Suicide Squad most definitely takes place after BvS but before ZSJL and also sets up characters and storylines that will eventually weave into Birds of Prey and then The Suicide Squad.
13:50 I hate talking about this but I do feel like giving a heads up that at present it doesn't look like Amber Heard is leaving the DCEU. She shot her ZSJL scenes post-scandal and has already confirmed she's prepping for Aquaman 2. I only bring this up since you mentioned you favor Johnny Depp's side and it's up to you if her continued involvement will deter you from continuing the series. Personally, with so many conflicting details I feel it's best that both of them stay very very very far away from each other and everyone needs to move on.

And yeah, amber heard isn't good. But I try to look at it past her. But I don't support her in future content, especially with Depp getting the shaft..I just haven't seen proof but there is proof of what she's done..it's just a sad situation. And I'm glad you guys addressed your opinion on it👍
The problem is you haven't seen "proof" of what she has or hasn't done. You've seen snippets from reporters that taken alone paint one picture. You and I have no idea what's true and what's not unless we're seeing ALL of the evidence both ways, and understand how to interpret them. I believe the trial is coming up next year, so the truth will be out as documents are made public.
Regardless of the truth of Amber, she is literally a dead fish in this film. She killed the fantasy every deadpan moment she was on screen.

The costumes, effects, action sequences builds the character and a bias against an actress shouldn't automatically make the character bad. I hate Amber heard but Mera was still awesome in the movie and she didn't "kill the the fantasy" at all.

Did you see the post-credit scene? James Wan talked about how he went back to Zack Snyder to make sure his Aquaman movie aligned more with Snyder's vision after what he saw and did not like what Joss Whedon changed in the theatrical. In fact, Patty Jenkins said all the DCEU directors based their movies off the Snyder Cut and not the theatrical cut. I was pleasantly surprised Nicole Kidman was in this movie. I love the effects used for them speaking underwater and the colorful visuals underwater are so beautiful. I do think the romance between Mera and Aquaman did seem a bit forced to me (at least their underwater kiss near the end). I wish James Wan's The Trench movie was not cancelled. It would've been cool to see if or how he connected that movie to Aquaman. I always find it interesting when the villains are somehow connected and even created in some ways by the heroes themselves, like Clark and Lex in Smallville. It creates an added layer of depth and shows the very human-side of these heroes and they make mistakes and go through a learning process too like everyone else.
By the way, you may already know this, but the DCAU also shares continuity with some other DC animated movies, comics, & some of the animated shows. So, for example, "Justice League vs. Teen Titans" assumes you already have seen the Teen Titans series and is not an origin story of the characters. However, it is also not that hard to follow if you did not see the series. There are also 16 films from Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox to Justice League Dark: Apokolips War that should be seen in order. For example, Son of Batman should be seen before Batman vs. Robin and both movies are part of that 16. But, other movies like Superman: Doomsday, Green Lantern: First Flight or Justice League: The New Frontier are stand-a-lone not connected to anything. Then, there is Batman: Gotham Knight that is unofficially part of the Nolan Batman films taking place between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I still remember the very first time I ever saw the movie, "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" and was so in awe. Also, did you notice that in Zack Snyder's Justice League, that shot with Batman standing on the tank shows the mutant gang (from The Dark Knight Returns) tied up in front of the tank? I actually missed it myself because the shot went by so quickly and I had to go back and see it more closely again after reading about it.
Being the son of a lighthouse keeper and the Queen of Atlantis is absolutely nothing short of incredible!!!! Aquaman is one of my top favorite superheroes of DC, no doubt!!!! Also, this movie is one of the greatest of 2018, and many thanks to you guys for reacting to this one!!!! I'm a HUGE fan- keep these coming!!!!!🧜♂️🌊

I feel like I may have almost liked the Snyder Cut if I didn't see Aquaman first. James Wan's vision of Aquaman and Atlantis is just a million times more interesting than bland vikings or bland underwater Greek soldiers.
Edit: Also the clicks and air bubbles made me want to turn the movie off every time.

Black mantas knife is ordinary steel but he stabbed Arthur in the same spot as the atlanteans steel so it was partially opened still
Aquaman is stronger than the average Altantean because he has both Altantean strength & human strength combined together plus the ability to communicate and command all sealife. The look of Aquaman is based on the 90s Aquaman by Peter David but with the feel of the New 52 Aquaman by Geoff Johns which included the reason why Black Manta hates Aquaman.

this is the only dc movie i really like. like this movie and avengers infinity war and endgame set the movie expectations so high for me. now any movie that comes out is kinda doo doo compared to them
The real question is: Is Annabelle haunting someone from Atlantis?
Filmmakers take note, you can use lots of CGI, you can use fluid, frantic, fast paced action, you can even use alot of special effects and it can be good if you can see it.... even when that scene was moving all over the place and using quick cuts, I could see and make out everything, I didn't get lost, confused or frustrated, I knew what was happening and where we were
So whatever you use, make sure people can see it, even when moving... also (and this movie proves it), everything doesn't need to be various shades of grey and black, at night, in the rain and fog, unseeable....use COLOUR, one of the reasons practical effects work so well, is that as something physically there you can see and make out what it is, it isn't a motion blur of shaky cam sh1t and particle effects
I love this movie so much because i'm such a big fan of Jason and was so happy when he got the part, like he's literally Aquaman in real life, but screw Amber Heard seriously. Like you said, this was released way before, but having to watch her is so annoying. Justice for my boy Johnny Depp. Nice reaction as always

It happened in the comics this movie was based off, but it wasn't Superman who took him down it was still Aquaman, the League however fought off his army long enough for Aquaman to take down Orm and take the throne.

This is actually not connected to Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The 2017 theatrical Justice League is cannon in the DCEU unfortunately. This is seen with the accents and set up of Atlantis in the 2017 version, as opposed to Zack Snyder’s one where their accents, history and biology is completely different to this film and the 2017 version. Very messy and confusing indeed but long story short this film and every other film in the DCEU is following the 2017 Justice League.

I remember the theater ERUPTED in cheers and applause when he emerged as Aquaman! That's what great filmmakers do. They get you emotionally connected to the characters and then when the big moment comes you can't help but feel it. I remember people crying when Sean Connery died in the untouchables. Great job Mr. Wan!
I remember reading an article around 2012 where someone was asked if they would ever make an Aquaman movie. The response was "No." The reason? Lack of special effects to shoot underwater scenes and to put mildly Aquaman sucks. Nobody wants to see a Aquaman movie. Well over a billion dollars at the box office and the biggest movie from the DCEU. It only goes to show that if you do a movie right and the character right people will go to see it. I was so happy it was successful because Aquaman is one of my favorite characters.

Black Manta is truly evil in the comics. He's more evil than The Joker cause he killed Aquaman & Mera's kid in the 1970s. The kid was a toddler. The Joker has never killed toddlers even during the No Man's Land storyline he killed James Gordon's wife Sarah while she was holding a baby but left the baby alive.
Remember watching this back then and thought it had a great start, loved Nichol Kidman. Did get a bit confused and bored about halfway through. My recall was that something weird about Meera, and she just seemed a whole waste of time. How prophetic, as parallels what we now know about the actress. Glad you weren't impressed, and right to support Johnny.
My 3 favorite new DC movies have been Man of Steel, Aquaman, and Black Adam I look forward to what the restructuring brings to DC

I just realized since aquaman is king of the seas that basically means he’s king of 71% of the earth
Maybe it's because I came to this movie without any background knowledge of Aquaman, and without being much of a DC fan in general either, but the storytelling seemed rather disjointed in the beginning, especially right after the big time jump. It seemed like I was supposed to already be familiar with certain characters, and certain situations were never properly explained. So despite the awesome visuals and other great aspects, the movie left me confused and therefore disappointed. Was there something else I was supposed to watch first, or was the movie only really made for fans of the comics, or was it just a bad script, or . . . what am I missing?

It is sad for the son, I can only imagine how hard that would be for me, even if we were the bad guys. You can't entirely blame Aquaman. But you can't blame the feeling of anger and hate from the son either, even if they got themselves into the situation. This is a perfect example of power and responsibility as well. Aquaman has the power and a certain responsibility. But how he chooses to use it is muddled a bit here. He could have apprehended the son, saved the dad, apprehended him, and taken them to authorities of some sort. But he remains neutral with his responsibility for now. He cares to defend only what matters to him.
You've missed the point of the scene. Aquaman doesn't show the dad any real mercy, and that bites him in the ass with the creation of Black Manta. It's a lesson he had to learn, and does as, when presented again with sparing or killing (or allowing someone to die) he chooses to spare Orm. When he tells him that when he's ready "they'll talk" he's trying to avoid the enemy he created with Manta. Of course, as we know he really won't change Orm and this will come back to haunt him regardless.
