      Mr. Fierce, your writing is quite Fierce. You are a gifted storyteller. Thank you for sharing your gift.
      Andrew McDermott, thank you for narrating this book. It is quite enjoyable and I look forward to hearing more books read by you.

    A great story! Harry Potter meets Eragon in the first hour in. I love the accent- a perfect fit...Sometimes I am calling my sailboat gently to "Blue Dragon" instead of Liberty since she is majestic, beautiful and flying through the seven seas. First, I am in LOVE with the narrator's deliciously fantastic speaking voice and sexy accent! His narration of this book brought it alive for me in some wonderful ways. I hope and pray that he continues to read this series. It won't be the same without him.
    Second, so I loved the book, the writing (I only caught one mistake that I'll need to check again anyway and it was minor if it exists), the plot, the characterization...all just excellent. I can't wait to read book 2.
    Lastly, so this is the part I'm not so crazy about. I heard that this book was published in 2020. So book 2 may not even be a thing yet. Which means I'm gonna have to wait to see what happens to Eldwin. Sigh.
    Thank you, Mr. Fierce for conceiving, writing and then posting your book up on UA-cam for this sciFantasy bibliofile to enjoy.

    Thank you so much for sharing, Richard. It's been an excellent story, and I am eager to continue with the next book. It's well written, no boring parts, the main characters are likeable and yep, I too like Andrew McDermott's Scottish accent :D I can't thank him enough for keeping his voice at the same sound level as opposed to narrators who whisper and yell in turns when the text "demands" it - that doesn't work for audiobooks in my opinion, no matter how good the narrators are otherwise. And I'm off to listen to the next one, gleaming with anticipation :)

      You're very welcome! I'm glad you liked it, and I hope you enjoy the others as well. Andrew is actually Irish, but I agree - he's a talented narrator for sure! I've got several other series on here as well, so there's plenty to keep you entertained. 🙂

      @@RichardFierceWrites I will pretend not to be embarrassed at all having confused his Irish with a Scottish accent. Not. At. All. But really, thanks for clearing that up - if one's not from around, it's pretty damn hard to distinguish those two. I used to listen to a bloke from Glasgow, Scotland, and Andrew reminded me a lot of him. I bet both of 'em are now setting their minds to mangle me until even a necromancer would just walk past my gooey remains, eyebrows almost leaving the face, and shrug. So I apologise profusely to everyone from either corner of the UK. :) As to your story, man, it's fun. Refreshingly so. I am already (or rather, still) listening to your next book in line, a bond of flame, and it's about thinking up a nickname for the captured creature - its response, and even more so, Eldwin's response to that, had me in stitches :)) Have a wonderful day, and thank you for your kind reply. I will check out your other stuff once I'm through with this series, can't wait :)

    • @RichardFierceWrites
      @RichardFierceWrites  Рік тому +2

      @@ArtBlade No worries at all. Andrew tells me he gets that confusion all the time, so he's used to it. 😂
      This series is my favorite of everything I've written so far, which is probably why I keep returning to it. It was originally just 5 books, then I came back and wrote a other 5. I came back to it this year and wrote a prequel type book (unrelated to the main storyline), and another 4 in the main series. I recently finished writing book 14 and Andrew has the manuscript now.
      Anyway, thanks for listening and leaving me comments!

    • @ArtBlade

      @@RichardFierceWrites My heart just skipped a beat... FOURTEEN?! That's great news! If this series is your favourite, then by all means, keep going, keep 'em coming :) If the follow-ups are as good as the first one and a half, I'm very, very positive that I'll follow through with all of whatever you're throwing my way :) Looking forward to it. And my regards to Andrew, he just taught me that an Irish accent, particularly his accent, is something to enjoy. It's interesting how even within the same range of each accent (in this case, Irish and Scottish) there can be massive differences. I came across some Scottish accents I almost couldn't understand (watching snooker) while others were simply an accent that was easy to understand. I don't think I ever heard an Irish accent that was nearly as strong as some of the Scottish accents. And it's funny how easily they can be confused if you're not from around. Now Imagine a narrator with a full-blown Cockney accent :D Are there any? At least in the film and games industry, you can bet that if you hear a Cockney accent, 99% of the time it's a "bad" guy. Might be tough for them to become a narrator ;) Take care, and again, thank you so much for sharing AND replying. I really appreciate it.

      @@ArtBlade Yes indeed, 14. And there will probably be a 15th - eventually. I've not travelled abroad from the USA yet, but I'm sure it would be hard to distinguish some accents from others, especially as you said not being from around. 🙂

    Here is my critique. At least up to chapter 9. I’ll do another one if I finish it.
    Altogether good book. I think. Seems like a good plot.
    The accent of the narrator for the story is fitting for the story. I like it.
    I don’t know if these dragons are supposed to be majestic, intelligent and magical, or if they are supposed to be horses who are extremely intelligent, but have the bodies and strength of dragons. I was thrown off by a dragon being led to the stables by someone near the beginning of the story.
    Also the character does come across as really really naïve or just loves playing dumb. Being cornered in the market like that, nope. Too obvious. But, the crazy guard, very interesting. I didn’t expect that. Curious what will happen to Simon. The main character forgetting the False king, and then suddenly remembering it, somehow was a bit irritating. I guess that it was done too early. At least for the reader. I know for the main character, it’s probably been two days, but at dinner, he heard someone talking about the false king. I guess the false king should have come up later in the book. Perhaps one chapter later. Admittedly, it is fascinating that he doesn’t know his father died fighting the false king.
    Well, since I am critiquing so much of this book, I guess I am more fascinated with the story than I thought.
    Strange thing here. At the beginning, I was getting vibes of medieval, lecherous guard, save the damsel in distress feels. Now though, I’m not sure what vibes I’m getting. I’m a bit confused.
    Basically, I’m interested and annoyed with the story. But I’ll continue it. Good so far.
    PS
    Seems like the main character has a leak in his mouth. Literally was told not to mention what he Saul in the test several times. Then he accidentally leaks what he saw in the test to that girl. Wondering if she put a spell on him?
    All right. I’m really done now.

    • @RichardFierceWrites
      @RichardFierceWrites  3 роки тому +2

      You'll learn more about the dragons as the story progresses, but the character is naïve and too trusting in the beginning. The reasons for him not really remembering the False King are are slowly revealed.
      As for not keeping his mouth shut about what he saw in the test ... well, it's hard to keep secrets. :)

      Thanks for the link Richard. I’ve listened to another of your series with a different narrator, and book where you and your co-author both narrated. I enjoyed those very much and you’re a talented author. Unfortunately I find this accent overwhelmingly distracting and can’t get used to it. Seems to be a combination of strong accent (for me) and pronounced lilting inflections is too much for my ear. I’m also Australian. I don’t usually react to accents in this way, and wouldn’t if we were just having a conversation together where I would find it interesting. I just can’t hear through it to the story. Also noting many comments saying they love the accent. Best wishes for your continued work in these enjoyable books. I hope to read the Osnen series.
