Very impressive. I could watch this all day long. Really beautiful work.
Thanks again, I appreciate you watching and commenting. 👍
Seconded
Looks great. Thanks for sharing. I find watching machine work very relaxing...
Hi John, thanks for watching.
I appreciate the support.
Have a great day.
My son had a 68 model 429 head and the man that done his he put the CJ valves and done the bowl andblending and polishing and polished out the intake port masthead it with a 288 roller stock bottom end cast iron heads 600 hp
Thanks Robert, I appreciate you watching.
Your son sounded like he had a great BB Ford.
Those engines respond well to basic modifications.
And perform very well.
Putting that big valve to good use. Us Mopar Guys have to make sue with less on the stock heads, as you know. Nice work, Ed!
Thanks for watching Joe.
The same type of work here applies to the Mopar heads for sure, and other engines as well.
I still like the Old Cast Iron heads.
Always great potential.
Have a good day.
Saved many hours hand porting with those Bowl Hogs Ed !
Hey Brian.
I was trying to save him the hours porting on the bench.
I really appreciate you watching.
Have a good day.
Hey look boys it's Ed's machine where all the horse power lives, beautiful work as always Ed top notch all the way 👌 these heads are definitely going to make some power , thanks for sharing my friend
Hey Terry, thank you my friend.
I really appreciate that.
I think this will be a good head build.
Take care, Ed.
I'd be happy to put those heads on my boat 🚤 Ed and see how much power I'd gain. . Wish I had your Patience Ed !
Hi Ed, nice video thanks for posting. I learn something new with every new video. What size was the original intake valve?
Hey Andy, thanks for watching.
The Original intake valve was 2.090.
Now it is 2.250.
The exhaust valve was 1.655 I believe or close to that.
Have a great day.
Nice job Ed!
Thanks Mark, means alot.
I really appreciate you watching and commenting.
Take care, Ed.
That looks so amazing, brother. I truly appreciate your work. Great video on some incredible heads. You rock, brother.
Hey R and R, good to hear from you.
Thank you for watching.
I appreciate the very positive feedback.
Take care, Ed
@@edsmachine93 truly my pleasure, brother. God bless you and your family.
Hello Ed,
Another enjoyable video. Nothing like freshly machined metals.
Hey Bert, thanks for watching Brother.
Yes, always like the fresh machined surfaces.
Have a great day.
Take care, Ed.
Top of the line work 👍👍 good job and keep them coming
Thanks Hippie Miller, I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Have a great day.
Great work! Those are awesome heads, wish I had some for my truck 😂
Hi Luis, thanks for watching.
I really appreciate it.
Yes these heads would be nice for your Ford.
Take care, Ed.
This is same thing done to my doveC heads used victor 460 and 1250 dominator 100cc jets all the way around its a beast 560 stroker 6.7 rods stud heads everything studed main girdle my motor was built in 98 mud drags open class
Thanks for watching John.
Your mud drags engine sounds impressive.
These heads are going on a Mud/Dirt Drags truck.
Have a great day.
Outstanding work as usual Ed.
Thank you Chris, I really appreciate you watching and commenting.
Have a great day.
Great work Ed. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't round ports considered a bad design? Either way looks like you're giving the porter a good foundation to scrounge for CFM
Hi Josh, thanks for watching.
The round ports are the way these heads were made.
You can fill the floors and pick up some flow.
Watch this series, I think the heads will turn out great.
There like 50 year old plus heads.
Take care, Ed.
@@edsmachine93 I watch Charlie Servido's channel and he was working on round ports a little while ago, that's the only reason I asked. 50? That'll separate the men from the boys, if you can make power with factory castings you can make it with anything. It'll be fun to watch.
If they would have brought that in valve up so the valves would have been across the center of the chamber.
Hi David, thanks for watching and commenting.
They did alot of things wrong.
Should have filled the quench area behind the exhaust seat.
Moved the spark plug over towards the exhaust valve, added material below the exhaust seat for a longer short turn.
Reshaped the exhaust port, raised it up and got rid of the hook in the floor.
Raised the intake floor.
But with all that said, these heads will make big power for what they are.
Have a great 4th of July. 👍🇺🇸
@@edsmachine93 very good man , you are close to me and when this engine breaks I will be talking to you.
@@davidreed6070 Thanks David.
Have a good evening. 👍
I see the guides are knurled. Is that to correct for wear or for oiling? I always doubted the wear correction longevity. But, I suppose I can understand the oiling.
Thanks for watching.
I appreciate it.
The guides are not knurled.
They are spiraled.
The guides are Guide Liners, Phosphor bronze.
The guides will be guide honed prior to the final valve job.
The spiral does hold oil for better lubrication.
Have a good day.
@@edsmachine93 I see. So the guides were replaced? I know the originals were integral cast iron. Maybe I didn't see that. I guess the grooves are meant foe oiling/lubrication.
@@nhzxboiYes they were replaced.
Very nice work, even though it's not a Mopar
Thanks Greg, I really appreciate you watching and commenting.
You can do the same thing to Mopar.
Works good too.
Have a great day.
I've seen this done before but no one has ever said how much airflow is gained. Can you give us an idea ? I run the standard D3 head in 460 in my jet boat . Great work Ed!!
Thanks for watching.
We are planning on trying to get the heads flow tested.
No one knows this yet.
So Hopefully we will know something when this project is finished.
And we will have a Part 2 for sure.
Have a great day.
@@edsmachine93Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with the rest of us. You present the information in a simple understandable form.
Nice ed that cutter with that round head and pin Is ? Make/model cuts nice carbide cutter.
Hi Johnny, thanks for watching and commenting.
The Bowl Hog is a Cobra Products.
They are not in business anymore.
Regis and Goodson should still have the Bowl Hogs.
Have a great day.
@@edsmachine93 ok but it's not the bull hog? It's the other one u used ed nd you got it from were? Thx John.
@@johnnybrigham8754Goodson Products.
3D seat cutter.
I’ve been looking into getting into this is there any way I could get the names of the tools used to do this?
Thanks for watching.
Winona Van Norman is the Valve Seat and Guide machine.
Goodson Products.
And alot of Experience.
Have a nice day.
Thank you
How come they didn't want hardened seats installed?
Hey Black Lab, they didn't want hard seats.
Race deal only.
They run race gas.
These engines get no miles on them.
Have a good day.
Right, I used to run drag cars and build the engines. Even though race gas has lead in it I always went with hardened seats because I was afraid that the much stiffer valve spring pressures would still pull the valve up into the head without them. Maybe I was just paranoid lol@@edsmachine93
Beautiful work, but aren’t you 1/2 way in cost of not more to a great set of aluminum heads??
👍👍🍿
Thanks for watching First Responder.
I really appreciate it.
Have a great day.
nice machine work! Looks like you arent getting any chatter. Ill bug you tommorrow
Thanks Scott.
The heads machined very nice.
It is a challenge with the big radius cutters sometimes for sure.
Have a great day.
Take care, Ed.
