Thanks for posting this video. That's a trick build. Very clean and retro. The old B&S sounds great! I also dig the shop and old tool collection. I also have a bins full of old nuts, bolts and washers. I worked in both the automotive and small engine repair fields for over 30 years and it still amazes me how many old nuts, bolts and washers can pile up even though every last nut, bolt and washer went back into what ever I was working on. It's like they clone themselves when you're not looking. LOL
+GuitarGuys7299 Thanks it certainly is a nice looking bike. Yeah the bolts keep piling up even though I use them constantly. Even with all the bolts I have it still takes 5 minutes to find the size i need. and then a nut and washer to fit lol
nice fabing man i cant even hate on how dirty and wore out your tools are cuz they work and looks like they have lasted a long time it seems like i just like mine really clean just a ocd thing with me lol but most of all i like that press you made for the forks i have a frame that looks just like that i think im going to have to cut it in half to make it taller for the engine the one that was on it was like one from a weed eater theres just enough room now for a 3hp and thats not enough for me . i want at least a 5 or better
+STEVE JONES Haha thanks yeah I dont have many tools that look new thats for sure. If you have a bike that looks like this it may be a taco frijole. If it is id think twice about cutting it up they are some of the most sought after and expensive frames out there. you can probrobly fit a tecumseh 5hp or a predator if you dont mind going modern. But you should check out oldminibikes.com and find out exactly what you have first.
jeep2003 ohh hey yeah sure will man always looking for good sights like that il have a look but yeah my forks i for get have a springger kinda style has no name on it n for the 5hp i was thinking the same thing as you il just have to mount the tank like a regular dirt bike n maybe a smaller muffler and it should shoe horn in there . i dont wana cut it if i dont have to
Nice engine man and awesome work. crazy how long they will go for i have a bit newer one it's an 88 it runs but needs a main oil seal at the drive shaft.
I like all your builds. Your Utility bike is my favorite. I had a Frijole in the '60's and would like to replicate one. I looked around on OMB forum for dimensions with no luck. Is there anywhere to get the actual dimensions? I have all the dies.
+GunPilot Its tempting but the engine is so nice and original Iv got to leave it alone. I didnt even want to pull the head off to clean it up and check it out. Its strong enough to get around without roasting the clutch so im happy with it. Glad i went with the lower gear ratio of 7.2 :1 though.
Look for my video called Get more power from your briggs & stratton for free. It does make a huge difference on these old briggs dont believe the comments. I should do a part 2 to that to clarify things for those people. Removing the goveroner should be the first thing you do. That alone wakes it right up. Dont be afraid of it blowing up these briggs get valve float way before anything lets go.
Read the description its 7/8 tubing like the old bikes. Its hard to get that size anymore at fab shops near me but I found out home depot has thick conduit and thin pipe that work in the 7/8 die. I havnt built a bike with it yet but will likely go with that next time I do.
Nice unit where you at in the world! I want to get a mini bike club going I live in Canada would like to have a run once a year up threw the woods. Go to my FB page and check out the little mini Tote I built it worked well didn't break down it took me about 12 km round trip with no problems. I was almost out of the woods and it stopped I thought oh what is going on! low and behold I had hit the choke to on and it chocked it self off she fired back up no problem...
The only prob with using a snowblower track is that there not made to go thirty miles an hour and when you lean over they want to throw the track as there designed to go flat and there are two. If you go to google images type In snow flea it is the little yellow with the single ski in front. probably good for a child who is putting around the yard at jogging speed but would prob throw the track as it too is a snow blower track. Polaris has a track made for a small dirt bike and is made for the purpose were trying to duplicate think it is the timbersled ripper the only problem with this is were not Donald Trumps kids way too expensive like 2000.00 But if you look at the design why couldn't a person take a roller chain and some sprockets and duplicate this design it would be a bit heaver but I think it would work use a chain the size of a chain that is on of a ninja or something and instead of using one sprocket go with a couple side by side spaced three or four inches apart you could weld a little flat bar across the two chains with a slight bend up at the sides and you could stud the plate or cover it with rubber from a tire. I might try building the flea using this type of track. My tote started out to look like this but it was way too unstable to try to run like this.
Yes my bike does throw tracks occasionally. definatly have to make an effort to keep it vertical. part of it is their design there isnt much to keep the tracks on the wheels just some nubs on the rubber. Expecially when they get slippery mud on them. The chain and sprocket idea is good but some measures should be taken to keep the ice from building up on the sprockets they tend to get bound up.

I know it seems a closely guarded secret by people that have them. I havnt seen anyone draw up a legitimate plan yet.
Are you going to open the valve lash on this engine for increased compression like on one of your previous projects?

Makes perfect sense.
what do ya mean by open the valve lash I'm new to this an have this very engine can I get more power by doing so

woow nice build! how far appart are the rear wheel supports? i just subbed! i hope to see more!
+Bingfu olson Thanks glad you like it. Its about 7" in the back theres not alot of room left
What metal tubing did u use like size and thickness
