I’m so glad I found your channel. I love your independence of allowing your creativity flow!! I love your Sweet Birdie!! Thank you for sharing your gift!!!
Your "whimsical bird" is just lovely and vibrant. Thank you for showing us beginners. I especially liked the wet on wet blending technique. You brought everything to life. I will look forward to giving this one a try. You explain everything so well. I enjoyed watching.
You are a really good teacher. This is in my saved file and I watch it every six months or so, to get inspiration for fun greeting cards for hospitalized kids. Thank you a million times over.
Thank you, Loretta! I'm so glad you enjoy it. This video has gotten far more views than I ever thought it would.😂 I'm so pleased you like it. Thanks for watching!❤
Love the finished bird and your presentation - no annoying music (thank you!), just quiet, clear instructions that are so easy to follow. You've really inspired me. I'll be watching again and following along. I'm a beginner with watercolor and drawing, but trying to move away from stamps when making cards so they are more personal and unique. Thanks!
Thanks Pam! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've got a buncha other watercolor videos - all geared toward making watercolor (at least the way I do it) accessible to everyone.😁
@aidellanebekker4599 - I have never heard of Happy Painting until now. I took a look and the style is similar, but not copied. This is not a unique style of painting to anyone. I know lots of artists who do whimsical creatures, animals and other things that are multicolored and doodled. I appreciate your concern, but I assure you this is not copied from them or anyone & I've never taken a class for this.
There are lots of people demonstrating basic watercolor techniques (and a kazillion other things), but one of the first things I noticed on opening this video is that your voice is very pleasant. It's not high pitched, screechy, and so fast I can't follow. It's not so soft and muffled or breathy that it can't be understood. Just - kinda like Baby Bear's chair, and porridge, and bed. Thank you!
Oh goodness, Sue! Thank you for that compliment! I had covid earlier in the year, and I still don't breathe right and most of the time I feel like I'm breathing really hard and I worry that will get in the way of enjoying the painting. I needed to hear this today! Thanks for watching and being here!
I LOVE your birds! Thank you for sharing them!! And THANK YOU for being such a great instructor! Your instructions are easy to follow and are helping me improve my watercolor techniques!
OMG!!!!!! Thank you for explaining block paper❤ you are the first I have seen, explain this. Please don’t call your art childish I THINK IT IS AMAZING!!!! Whimsical and art I would actually buy!!! PS THANK YOU FOR NO MUSIC!!!!!! I seriously appreciate that❤❤❤❤
Haha! Thanks Heather! You're not the first person who has appreciated no music - I hear that a lot. Glad you like it that way. Thanks for the love and thanks for being here!💜💜💜
I love these birds, thanks for sharing, I will adopt your idea of paper on my table, its certainly duel purpose and it looks cool! I will be doing some birds in water color soon. JB (UK).
I just painted this little bird and totally enjoyed it, I haven’t painted much so don’t have much confidence in drawing but this project was great . Tks so much your a star, and explaining as you go and the time you take is excellent, tks
Aw, Joan - Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! My whole goal is to get people creating who might not otherwise- to make it easier, so I'm pleased to hear you had fun with it!!😁 Ive got more videos like this on my channel if you have a desire to keep painting - all free of course! Thanks for being here!❤️
Found your channel today and so glad I did. It made my heart smile💖. Been watching videos, learning & gathering materials for a year now. This whimsical bird has given me courage to finally put paint to paper and I can't wait to create my own whimsy bird🤗 I find I'm partial to the loose, whimsical & abstract types of watercolors at this stage. Thank you for sharing your wonderful painting and encouragement!
Thank you, Celeste! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! My whole goal is for people who may be intimidated to try making art to watch and see that it doesn't have to be complicated...and ultimately give it a try. Thanks for watching!
I love these cheeky birds, I am so glad I found you, I can’t draw for toffee, but this is for sure something I can do.. please keep up with this inspirational work... I suffer from a very painful permanent medical condition and I found painting takes my mind of the pain a little more than reading does.. thanks x
My whole goal is to help people who don't think they can draw or paint get started - because we all have creativity in us. I'm so glad you feel inspired by this. That just makes my heart so happy. I love art for not only the creative expression, but because it can take outside ourselves for a bit, which can help with so many emotional, mental and physical ailments. I'm glad painting helps you. Thanks for being here. :)
I too have a hard time stopping myself from trying to always paint in a more realistic way. Also come from a long career in accounting, though my degrees is actually in Art. This is a very fun video. ❤️🤓😜
This is so cool! I've never tried watercolor painting before - I got the paints last year but haven't had the courage to put paint to paper. This is a wonderful starting project, I can't wait to try it.
I just found your channel. I seriously have very little artistry about me - I don’t stand a chance drawing a straight line using a ruler. Anyway. I made one of theses whimsical birds, pausing your tutorial while I caught up. My result - I over mixed the paints so not as vibrant and made eyeglasses when I didn’t care for the eyes. BUT, it was fun and silly. Thank you so much.
I'm glad you had fun with it. I overmix my paints sometimes too 🤣- just takes practice. Keep playing with it, and have fun with it. Thanks for watching!💜💜💜
So fun, thanks! Need to buy a new black gel pen.. mine is a unibell vision needle (not gel??) and says waterproof but was not and ran so had to be really careful.
Found your channel today and I'm so happy I did. I work from home doing...accounting! My entire career has been logical thinking day in and day out but there is this creative side that is screaming to come out. I related so much to what you said in the video about letting go and letting the whimsical side flow. I seem to have a death grip on whatever utensil (pen, pencil, brush) I'm using and I have to make a very conscious effort to relax and let go when I'm drawing or painting. Your words are so encouraging and I love the way you teach. I love that you not only say what you're doing but why you're doing it. I can't wait to try my hand at this little bird...it's just so cute! Thanks for sharing your gift with us.
Oh, Lisa! Thanks for being here and your kind words.❤️. If that creative side is screaming to get out - let it out! I can tell you from experience... the more you create, the more mindful you are about it (making the effort to relax the death grip for instance), the easier it gets. Abstract & loose used to be physically painful for me. Still is sometimes, but it has gotten easier and more and more fun. Just keep doing it - and feel free to ask me questions as you give this a try. 💜💜💜
Hi Candace!!! Thanks for jumping over here.😁 Lots for you to watch & create with, so feel free to look around. And always feel free to ask questions I. Comments or message me on Insta. I'm happy to help people on their creative journeys if I can. Thanks for being here!❤️❤️
Thank you so much Rosemary! I appreciate you watching! There will be more to come, and feel free to make suggestions for future videos if there are things you want to learn. :)
I just started painting a year ago and watched and followed your instructions - what fun!! Have you made more tutorials recently? If so, where can I find them? Diane
Hi Diane! So happy you enjoyed this. If you go to my channel (click on my name I believe), I have a TON of other tutorials - if you like what you see there, you can subscribe to my channel and get notified when I post new videos. I try to do a new one every month. Happy to have you here.💜
My pleasure, Ann! You've got nothing to lose giving it a try.😁 Would love to hear how you do. And you're always welcome to ask questions here. Thanks for watching!💜💜💜
Hi. Adorable bird! My grandson is taking an interest in drawing, I’m gonna show him your video’s. Thanks for showing how to start with something easy. TFS. Sherry from Canada 🇨🇦.
Dawn, I'd like to order some gel pens like the ones you previewed in one of your tutorials. You mentioned you found the pens in a grocery store, I don't remember the brand. Thank you and Happy New Year.
Sorry for taking so long - your comment got sent to spam for some reason.🤷♀️. Most of the pens I use I get on Amazon. I think even the grocery store ones you can find on Amazon. The black pens I use most are Uniball Deluxe Micro and Uniball Eye Fine. The ones from the grocery store were Pentel Sparkle Pop silver & gold pens. I also used to recommend Pigma Micron pens, but they are felt tip & I've switched to ball point. They are still good though - just preference. Does that help or was there another pen you were wondering about?
Hi Gigi! I do have one video with cats. 😁 Not sure if you've seen it. You can find it on my channel, or use this link - ua-cam.com/video/F2DMIXHQvgU/v-deo.html Thanks for being here!!❤️
I will put it on the list!😁 I haven't had a chance to make new videos for a bit, because I've been caring for an elderly parent, but I should have some time opening up in about a month. I'm very ready to get some new videos out for y'all.😁❤️
Hey! How are you? Love your birds! Could you maybe do a similar doodle of a fat lil bunny and/or a fat lil mouse?! Same concept but a different animal. Tutorial, please?
Thanks! And absolutely!! I do have a video of a fox painting that is in the same vein - ua-cam.com/video/r3jQLCsYJtM/v-deo.html. Nice timing on the comment because I was actually thinking of doing a bunny just a couple days ago. I'll get right on it! THANKS for the suggestion! :)

I would like to see whimsical cats
Hi Gigi! I do have one video with cats. 😁 Not sure if you've seen it. You can find it on my channel, or use this link - ua-cam.com/video/F2DMIXHQvgU/v-deo.html
Thanks for being here!!❤️
I got paint in the eye so had to give him bloodshot eyes! I have to try again!
🤣🤣🤣 bloodshot eyes makes it unique! 😁😁
I still can't splatter like you do. Had to another pencil to tap against
That's perfectly OK. Tapping against a pencil accomplishes the same thing. Just a different way to get there. It's all good!😁😁🥰
If you ever feel up to it, could you do an owl😬😍
I will put it on the list!😁 I haven't had a chance to make new videos for a bit, because I've been caring for an elderly parent, but I should have some time opening up in about a month. I'm very ready to get some new videos out for y'all.😁❤️
Love this sweet birdie❤️ Is it possible for you to set your camera so the drawing will be right side up for the viewer?
Thanks Sharon! Video angle has improved in more recent videos. This was one of the first I did over a year ago now I think. Learning video as I go.😂😁
Enjoyed a lot, will help me get looser 🤪
Glad you enjoyed it! I donthese to help me get looser too...I tend to want perfectly aligned lines.😂😂 Thanks for watching!
thanks, thanks, thanks a lot
