- After returning from our trek to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes I decided to sit down and unpack my bag with you. I show you everything I took and why. I do a full review and explanation including recommendations for what to pack for a trek to Everest Base Camp. I recommended brands and specific items, so hopefully this can help anyone planning on doing this trek through the Himalayas in the future. Filmed November, 2019.

A great no-nonsense overview. Nice one.
Namaste katelyn, very informative for the uninitiated to Trekking in Nepal, the gear will be important for the next trek, maybe K2 or Annapurna, safe travels
Exactly. Yes, I’m still unsure as to what my next trek will be!
Lovely gals....i love the fact that u guys try and reply to all the comments....All the best..
Thanks! We try our best!
SO HELPFUL! thank you!
No worries! Cannot wait to follow along your adventure, so excited for you 😬
@@AdventuresofKatelyn I had a look at the sleeping bag that you took with you. I've been told that I should look for something thats good to -10, but they're much heavier!.. Did you find that sleeping bag warm enough or could you have gone warmer?
Yeah I could have used with a warmer one, I did sleep in quite a few layers of clothing some nights. Most places will give you a pretty decent blanket as well but you still need a decent sleeping bag. Kathmandu sell ones that are rated for even colder weather but they obviously get more expensive. Just make sure no matter which one you get, that it’s made from down! Otherwise it’ll be way too heavy. Another option is looking into sleeping bag liners, they’re another way of getting extra warmth and they’re still quite small and light and can be used with your sleeping bag on the really cold nights.
Nice review, I have never heard of the lifestraw bottle!, 100% agree with travel doctors are much better than your own GP unless you know what you want after a few adventures. I now only carry 3 prescription meds from my local doctor. One thing I always carry on any trek is fisherman's friends. They are good for breathing in general, nasal, and a sense of warmth. I have to ask did you get a good discount for buying all at Kathmandu? And also if you had to go again at the same time would you have taken as much? Cheers. So what would a trip like this cost all up, as in from home to EBC and back home? Thanks
So handy to know! 😍
Might be helpful for you when we go to Nepal next year!
Very helpful!!
Glad I could help! Are you planning a trip to Nepal soon?
hey! what rekking guide did you go with?! currently trying to plan with one
We booked ours with Intrepid and they were great 🙌
wow nice
Thanks for watching
What company did you use for the guide and trek or did you do it solo?
We went with Intrepid ☺️ would highly recommend!

@@AdventuresofKatelyn ok
Nice 💗💗💗
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video it really does help!
But OMG does it really need to buy all that over priced items?
Those prices are insane and I could never afford them!
Will I definitely need or the expensive stuff?
more 100 $ is pretty insane and feels totally unnecesary to spend but I am not sure if we really need the expensive stuff?
You can definitely use cheaper brands just make sure your clothes will keep you warm and you've worn in your footwear before hand. For me it was all worth it because I hike regularly. If this is the only hike you will do and won't get much use out of your gear then it's not worth spending too much.
Really insightful, thanks.
1. You said you bought a lot of stuff before you left your country, can you bring protein bars etc through customs before getting on the plane?
2. Is bringing a suitcase to the airport necessary? Or just bring everything in your big rucksack? Or bring both a suitcase and rucksack? Lol 😆
We brought protein bars through customs and had no issues. Check the rules before you go but pretty sure it's fine so long as you don't have certain foods such as fruit & veg, meat etc. Pre-packaged foods such as bars are usually fine.
A suitcase is not necessary and I do regret taking such a big one. You can definitely take everything in your rucksack however we knew our tour group supplied them for the trek and I didn't have good one so I decided to bring my suitcase.
@@AdventuresofKatelyn Thinking of going in Feb, I heard it’s a good time of year. I live in Northern Ireland, normally before customs/security they would throw your food out. Will have to check.
Ahhh ok, a rucksack and dufflebag would be fine to bring to the airport. Was thinking a rucksack alone wouldn’t be enough to carry everything. I was looking at a company called gadventures and they’re really good I heard. When you book through a company like that, you have to take care of your own flights getting to Nepal to start the trek? Thanks again Katelyn 😊
❤❤❤🤘🤘
Thanks for watching
Wow
Thanks for watching!
Why you bought everything in Kathmandu? Is it better quality or cheaper? Thankx!
cheaper and no need to transport it.
I didn't buy much in Kathmandu. A lot of it was from Kathmandu the brand/shop in Australia
good 😍😘🇳🇵🌄
Thank you
Hallooooooo
Hello! Thanks for watching!
I will not bring books, snacks with me.
