    I used to work on the flight deck when I was in the navy. I worked with the Super Hornets daily. It’s always been a dream of mine to fly one of these.
    While not the same thing, I hope an FPV setup in one of these will suffice

    After crashing 3 jets and about $1600 worth of toys today, I'm seriously considering getting some of the smaller models. I wish this was the single pilot version, since I want to do Maverick's livery and the Freewing 90mm is a Hornet version. I can't wait until they make a 80/90mm Super Hornet and a 80/90mm size F-35!

    Love mine. I use a 6s 4000 pack. Fits perfectly and CG is spot on. Not as fast as a 70mm F-16 or Yak-130 but it's definitely locked in. It does seem to fly like a bigger, heavier jet but very positive. FMS did a great job on this one.

    Yes that is an awesome plane to fly. Aerobatic bigtime. I flew mine and actually wore out the foam lol from flying it really hard. I did install the xfly models 70mm fan to perk it up. I highly recommend this model. But i do agree the finish is rough. FMS would do well to make a lightweight version in 80mm but full flying slab.

    Great informative video. I like it when you show the 2 flights ,with and without gyro. It really covers the entire market of flyers that way. When I see a plane that I like flown without gyro, I dont take it in as much since I am a gyro flyer. I thank you for pointing out the imperfections as some of us display our planes, making appearance a factor.
    The flight itself was fantastic. It reflected the capabilities very well and also the durability.
    Definitely one I will consider when back in stock.
    Thanks again

      Note that this jet will fly fine without a gyro *if you're not flying it tail heavy* like we are. Full scale fighter jets are flown relatively tail heavy compared to most RC pilot CGs, which is one of several reasons why full scale fighters are more agile. Getting the CG right and using a gyro to compensate for the CG shift makes your jet perform like a fighter.

    Hi Jon! I was liking this jet because of the size, because of being FMS quality and their 70mm power system. But I did not know it cannot perform nice high alphas, landing gear is narrow and maybe tricky in grass and it can be twitchy. The pros are, very fast (did not imagine that with that wing proportions compared to the F16teens) and agile. I’ll keep thinking about this 🤣 Dropping an 8S ESC and 7S Lipo would deliver some good speed also 😅 Thanks!
    Ohh and I thought the wings would be rocking because of the angle when landing plus the full span flaps (?) ? But it seems there isn’t a slower way to land

    Hey Jon. You been using SMC HV packs on almost all FMS jets and they all have Predator ESC. Did you have to program ESC for HV pack. I know few people that had crashes since esc shut down after like 1:30min of flight. It seems ESC wrongly sees voltage and makes cut-off thinking battery is at cut-off voltage. I want to order those pack when they will be available in EU(in few week) but not sure if am gona have problems. Also ordered HobbyWing FlyFun V5 ESC programming card. Thank you for your answer! I ordered this plane form China it should arrive in 2-3 weeks.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому +2

      Most of our FMS ESCs work fine with the HV packs we use. The only one that hasn't played well is the ESC in the P-40, which reduces thrust down to 40% after it gets below 15.8v. A simple fix for this is if you hear 5 beeps (4s) or 7 beeps (6s), fly it until it drops below 16.8v or 25.2v and then land, unplug and reconnect, then fly again.

    Not sure if it needs it but you can get more up elevator authority if you point both rudders inward when pulling up. The drag above and behind the CG and center of pressure will rotate the nose up. The real hornet does this. It would be cool to see how much of a difference this makes in rc.

    Jon, how would u compare the flight performance of this to the 80mm E-Flite/FMS F/A-18? I wanted to get the 70mm but my local shop was totally out, so I got the 80mm one instead. The 80mm doesn't have a gyro and I'm looking at putting a Hobbyeagle A3 Super 4 in it (Spektrum stuff aren't available in my neck of the woods, so no AS3X).

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому +2

      This is a better jet overall than the 80mm. It has too many problems to recommend. It's a good jet if you want something to look at on the ground, but it isn't something you'd want to fly unless you're willing to put in way too much work to ensure that the stabilators don't come loose, or that the nose gear doesn't get messed up.

      They're definitely nothing alike in flight characteristics, at least not at the CG we've used on both jets. The F-16 is still pretty docile even with a 3600 shoved to the back. The F/A-18 is tail heavy with a 3600 at the back. This makes it significantly more fun (and definitely requires a pitch gyro for precision/stability) to fly for us compared to the F-16.

    Interesting that you say that anyone who says they can fly this plane with extended throws and aft cg without a gyro are 100% wrong. Very arrogant assumption to make there. I recently got this exact plane and am using a ar620 with no gyro with 150% rates on elevator and aileron with 55% expo. Mine flies very smooth. Im using a 4000 pack which could be a little heavier than yours. I also have about the same amount of flying experience as you and have used gyros since i started. Only recently have i started moving away from them. They help slightly in the wind from what ive found and also noticed the plane is more responsive without stabilization. Ive watched lots of your videos but you should really tone down the arrogance. You're not the only one out there doing extended rates etc you just might be one of the few posting youtube videos about it.. youll never get a true feeling of how stable the plane flies with a gyro in it..

      Yes, yes, gyro bad.
      Expo bad too.
      Anything new bad, everything old good.
      We get it.
