my friend recently broke up and i was blankly like okay. just kinda awkwardly sat and in a moment of desperation sent her a bunch ok break up songs i found in a playlist, a few articles on how to get over a break up, and a few tip videos as well as one of those hoodie-sunglasses-wiimusic videos because i didn’t know what else to do.
My best friend rants to me about her crush and stuff and I’m just kind of like “okay…”
But I’m one of those nosy best friends so I actually care about her love life and need to know every detail but I’ll never understand the struggle
I have never related to Zuko more than when he was saying "that's rough buddy" to Sokka.
I love that scene from brave. I am not aromantic but I am so tired of people putting marriage in such a high stool. Sure. It can be great. But let's talk about individuality first.

I agree. As an aromantic I'm fully capable of sympathizing with people who posses Romantic interest of all kinds. Romance has its lace in fiction, I just don't think it needs to be soooooooo heavily prioritized

I think Will in the second season was just trying to recapture much simpler, more innocent times after going through the trauma of being kidnapped and almost killed. His friends are growing up and he wants things to remain the same. He could definitely still get Aro-Ace.
Okay but why is no one talking about the iconic Sherlock scene?! For me, he was the first character I saw that didn't put romantic relationships above everything else.

That isn't just an aromantic moment. It's a beautiful parenting moment. Profound love right there.
True, but what he says is a call back to someone asked when he was going to settle down and he said he wasn't like his friend to fall in love at first sight, to just go up to a random person and say, cue him saying that whole speech to the closest women, then going back to his friend like nothing happened. That scene fits better there but he said that because he's a womaniser and his marriage fell through going back to being friends as the arguing was ruining their close friendship
(bare in mind this is like 5 10 mins after their wedding in the episode due to a 2 year jump, in a season dedicated to their wedding weekend, after a season on their engagement, all showing how perfect they are together. And their not even the main character. It's supposed to be about his best friend meeting the future mother of his children. Which they very barely touch until the last season/8, but until almost the end it's just flash forward and narration, talking about how they are perfect for each other.
But like the married couple this ends in the final episode with an undefined flash forward of her suddenly dying slowly from an unknown condition at the end, with the very end being him getting back with his ex, his best friend's ex wife who he had dated years/seasons ago. And the worse thing is that they planned that ending a decade previously as they kids were the same age as the pilot episode, it was a popular show, they didn't have to do it like that, they choose to stretch out the seasons then do a 180 in the final episode and have it more like how I met your step mother.)
*Sorry for the fangirl rant sidetrack I actually did have something to say about the actual scene shown*
It's even more meaningful when the character in an earlier season started a new holiday after a "near miss" called Not father's Day and through a party.
There was a call back to it while he was in the waiting room when the nurse came out and he thought she was going to say it wasn't his, he set off a party popper put on a party hat and shouted happy not father's Day everyone.
But then the women corrected him and said it was a girl, that he had a daughter. Then he goes still and goes to meet her and gives her that speech.
It's possible the party is a cover up as his mother claims he does want kids and he is just playing tough like always.
Never thought of Will being aro... makes a lot of sense actually. I had the same issues, wondering why everyone were obsessed with relationships while I just wanted to play video games with them.
I loved that stranger things scene I really relate to that like all my friends talk about is romance and I'm like "damn I'm trying to kill this giant lava gorilla and you want me to worry about girlfriends?"

I've never watched Stranger Things, but I related to that clip on a spiritual level and it got me in the feels SO hard.
And I headcanoned Merida as aroace super hard before I ever knew the terms "aro" and "ace" existed, which was one of the reasons I liked her so much.

@@blacat2168 this is short but it’s basically styles of behaviour expressed by a person in an intimate relationship. they’re not a permanent label so much as a helpful set of information on issues you may need to work on when it comes to intimacy with others. the most well-known types are the avoidant attachment style, and the anxious attachment style, avoidant types here will express reticence towards direct affection, may be emotionally unavailable when the time comes to offer intimacy and have put up emotional walls to distance themselves from vulnerability. they’ll be seen as heartless, withheld or maybe cold. looking up the attachment style will offer more information on the behaviour, why and how it occurs, and possible advice on overcoming these barriers. hope this helps! :)

I'm here to understand more about aros and I don't understand how the clip from How I Met Your Mother is aro, can you help me?
Is it because sweet is different from romantic? Or is it just the sweetness with possible partners that is unwanted? What he said to the baby was so adorable, but isn't it romantic too?
Maybe being italian doesn't help with understanding the difference between sweet and romantic in a relationship but im trying.
Btw I always thought that character was aro because of him not looking for a stable relationship and for how he acted while in one. I just.. don't get why he's percieved as aro in this scene? Did I just miss the point?
Aromantic is about not feeling romantic love. He's saying lines that are usually used for a romantic partner, but saying them instead to his daughter. Reminding us that there are other kinds of strong love than the romantic one.

I think one can say Barney only rarely feel romantic attraction. So he fits on the aro spectrum. But I also just in general choose scenes with aro mood. It's not necessarily that the characters are clearly aro since there are very few canonically aro characters.
