One of the towns near me has a speed sign. The police use it as a decoy for people with radar detectors. They sit between two buildings near the sign where they can radar you and you think it's just the sign. On a side note when my radar detector stopped working, speed signs was the first hint I got.
For these few cases, I always assumed that the speed sign is operating on the X band that I disabled on my V1G2. However, most signs operate on the K band in my area.
Thanks for this video. It was just what I needed to hear. There's a new speed sign on my route home that clocks my speed but my Uniden DFR9 never alerts. I knew there was nothing wrong with the detector because I live where all the cop cars run K and KA and the DFR9 has never failed me. I was thinking there was a new type frequency radar gun in the area that would soon be in all the cop cars. Thanks for the insight.
So glad you covered this! We have a large construction zone in my area and I was wondering how at least one of these units was obtaining my speed without my Radenso DS1 alerting.
Thanks for the vid...this is something that had me scratching my head and unable to remember if a few particular speed signs have been locked out or not after receiving alerts. I'd love to see a false alert test such as the RL360c next to the Max3 at the same time. Not sure where you live but here in San Antonio false alerts are ridiculous. I sent in my RL360c for repair and purchased a Max3 a while back. I swear Max3 was alot quieter but had great range towards actual threats. Escort ended up sending me a new 360c and I feel I don't get as many false alerts, but that instant full blast K Band kills me (especially when I'm using the phone since it is mounted right next to the mic). I think my Max 3 only did that twice in the two months that I was using it.
I posted a question in rdforum a while back about a local speed sign not setting off my R3 or Redline 360c. I think it went unanswered, so thanks for this informative video.
@@heyman23233 I have a R7 and I've talked to several people with one in VA and neither of us had any issues with VSP. But if your worried get V1G2 or the R3. I had the beltronics Magnum before upgrading-.
Great channel great video, I was also wondering why my R7 is not alerting to traffic signs, also does anyone know what kind of radar at the Milwaukee County Sheriff Department uses because my R7 cannot pick it up and neither Have any escorts that I have had in the past. Tried all settings going past several different speed traps
All the new speed signs in my area (seatac/Burien/Normandy park) do not trigger my detector. I wonder if they use x band like you mentioned. I may turn on x band alerts just to see.
Interesting thing in my area of Michigan two cities have speed trailers. The police department hooks it up to the back of the police car and take it to the the area they want for the day on the side of the road. Just around the time it gets dark they pick it up and take it back to the city garage or police department. I've also seem them sitting near it so they can observe the speeds shown. I've never seen the pull anyone over while sitting near the speed trailer so I'm not sure if they so or not.
Thank you for this. I noticed a few weird things with them myself. It would be great if you could do a video on how to recognize BSM falses. I have seen some weird behavior that I wondered was BSM falsing.

My guess is most unalerts are from your radar detector not having that band. The one that doesn't hold up in court but makes road signs cheaper.

I have 34.7 KA speed signs in my area.
My detector alerts to most speed signs, except for a few of them. Most are K-band, but I saw a Ka-band sign once. It's weird.
@@eternitywas The Ka band speed sign is on US-101 North going towards San Francisco, right where the speed limit goes from 70 to 65.
There is a KA speed sign in Birmingham, MI that makes me crazy!

Double check that you have MRCD enabled. Head to RDF for additional support.

My Valentine 1 G2 NEVER see's the speed signs, they are everywhere. They must operate on a different tech.
speed signs not calibrated as much, but I presume speed cameras are calibrated?
I don't believe they can't issue a ticket based on this. Or at least i'm sure they would try.
