      Appreciate Video! Apologies for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you tried - Proutklarton Protecting Aqua Plan (google it)? It is a great one of a kind guide for getting prepared for a mega drought minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my work colleague finally got amazing results with it.

      Hot = Burn
      Water goes in through the throat hole.

    • @SanjiKunTheLoveCook
      @SanjiKunTheLoveCook 8 років тому +5

      +Warndog which means it went bad. for a food to go bad people assumes it just means "it decayed", but water is pretty simple, cannot go bad on its own, like you said it accumulates contaminates which is pretty much the same thing at the end of the day.

    • @Warndog9
      @Warndog9 8 років тому

      Yea that's true to a point. But then again, the water itself is fine and the contaminates can be extracted. In the end the actual water stays unchanged.

    • @waswestkan
      @waswestkan 8 років тому

      +Peter Caulton Why recommend what is very difficult or impossible for people to do, when the risk being avoided is very negligible? I have never seen water in glass containers in the at stores where I live. While I haven't went shopping for any, I assume glass containers are expressive to buy and expensive to ship. More likely that not a plastic product is use to seal the jug or jar. Stored water for emergencies is hopefully for a short time use, and is essential, I feel it unreasonable to focus any hazards from plastic.

    • @dangoddess
      @dangoddess 8 років тому +1

      +waswestkan Really? I collect my drinking water from a natural spring and store it in empty wine bottles that have screw top lids. If you care about your health you can do that too. Glass is reusable and eco friendly. Tell your supermarket that you will no longer buy water in plastic bottles and call your local water authority and tell them to supply you with healthy drinkable water from your house supply or you will lower your contributions to their supply.

    First of all, thank you for all of your incredible videos. I really mean that. BUT............ the one thing I wanted to REALLY know you touched on at the end but never fleshed it out. What happens, say, if you open a 16 ounce bottle of water, take a swig and then close it? What would be the shelf life in that scenario? Also, I guess you would have to take in consideration if the bottle was left out afterwards or put immediately into the refrigerator? Thank you!

    • @BrainStuffShow
      @BrainStuffShow  8 років тому +8

      Hey hey! Once you've put your mouth on a water bottle, there's going to be some saliva and bacteria in there. Even if you close it back up, the bacteria can start multiplying. Putting it in the fridge would help prevent them from growing. You probably wouldn't need to worry too much about drinking from this kind of thing either way -- it proooobably wouldn't make you sick. But it definitely wouldn't be as clean as a sealed bottle of water.

      Since water sort of absorbs chemicals from plastics, how possible is it to absorb similar chemicals from the metal pipes in our water systems? In which case, which is more harmful, water stored in plastic bottles or water stored in metal pipes?
      Sidenote: Here in India, we have a tradition of storing water in Copper utensils overnight (at least) before consuming it (They say it is good for your body). When my mom came to know about it, she god a bunch of copper cans to drink water from.

      Thomas Dank engine Yeah I was just wondering how long it could last in a plastic bottle, our water usually cuts out for no reason and then it's good to have a backup supply, but if it's going to be dangerous to store backup water in plastic I'll rather try and find glass containers

      Remember, the bottle and the water are completely sterile when they place it in. If you say, drink from the bottle, lightly rinse it then refill it, there will be bacteria left and may go bad.

    all my bottled water (in plastic) looks like it was crushed in some kind of pressure chamber...what's up with that? (all are unopened). i don't want to throw them away because...water doesn't go bad..but..it definitely seems unappealing so i keep it around "in case of emergencies" (not sure what.. like a tiny fire but there's no water pressure at the time?)

    I think the most interesting fact about the water we drink is ..... that when we fill up a glass of it and drink it down ... we are drinking the very same water the Dinosaurs drank ( even the animals themselves as well as every human being is in that glass ) EVERY drop of water that ever was is still here today as water

      Look up the water cycle. It rains down on the earth, it then flows to the rivers, part of it evaporates into the air, water from the oceans too evaporates into the atmosphere, it then condenses into clouds and fall again like rain.

    Okay well that is good to know. I did have a question : How long a standing water stays good in one of those one cup coffee makes ? Hubby got one of those and it has the water tank on the side and the water just sits there not hot nor cold...for who knows how long. He just keeps adding new water from the faucet. I don't want to drink it because all I can think is slimy water. Can that water go bad ? or am I just being weird & crazy. Also I moved it to another spot in the kitchen and now it ends up getting afternoon sunlight right on the tank...that can't be good ? Any information on my problem would be really helpful ! Thank you.

    My sister got food poisoning (can you call it that when you are talking about a liquid?) when she drank some water from a previously used bottle that had been standing in her room over the Christmas holidays.
    Because it was a previously used bottle it had bacteria in it, and the bacteria had multiplied and thrived in the water inside the bottle, making her sick when she drank it.

    • @RHawkeyed

      Nope, no chemical leak from glass. Glass is a really good container material for food storage as it is very stable and neither gives off or absorbs anything from the food or drink. The problem is the opening which is difficult to seal tight without some kind of rubber band, cork or other material that may give off chemicals to the content.
