  • Mesh to Metahuman is an Indie Dev GAME CHANGER! You can now create a fully rigged digital double in minutes! I spent a few minutes and got better results creating a digital double than I was doing using Maya, zBrush and more in MONTHS of work.
    I'll be creating a full in-depth tutorial as I dial it in and come up with a workflow anyone can do! - Follow on Patreon and like and sub for those updates!!!

      and did you ever want to change metahuman cloth? is it possible?

    • @rennyandboston
      @rennyandboston  2 роки тому

      @@user-bq3rm4if2s Absolutely... re-rigging a custom body and/or clothing is going to be a much simpler process than the face. There is still a lot of love and time taken on the metahuman bodies, but for my game and film I do need to create custom clothing and body assets... I'm sure that that will also be added to the creator down the road. For now... you still need to use a third party workflow.

    yeah, thanks for the video. this is awesome new feature. How many shots of the head do you need to get a good mesh using photogrammetry? can you show us the mesh that you derived from the photos? : ) thanks

      That's a great question. You're looking somewhere in the minimum of 30, and then potentially doing some cleanup. I'll have to look at the exact number I used for mine, but I ended up having really bad coverage of the ears and isolating and reshooting those as separate assets, so all in all this scan may have had over 100... But I'll talk about all of that in the tutorial

    This is a gamechanger and I wasn't looking forward to the looooooong process and headaches of doing this without the new plugin. UE5 just made it much easier with this!

    For first release this is huge 🤩🤩🤩
    It’s crazy how much time ⏰, it is going to save & reduce frustration to build your ideas💡& dream projects.
    This is just cool 😎 & I love epic for providing this for free of cost 💲, this are the reasons for my project I chose UE5 😍😍
    First Quixel mega scans & now Metahumns, I am so happy 😀 😃😃😃

    I so felt your pain as it is really a long process to make a good quality digital double and it takes years of study to do this from scratch. Sculpting, retopo, texturing, facial rigging or blendshape sculpting. Now.... few clicks. Lives have been saved. :)

    The things that Epic Games are doing for game developers is insane. And all for free too? They literally bought Quixel, which used to be a very expensive paid library, and made it free. Then they bring out a game changing edition to the unreal engine - for free. And now you can straight up just release a MetaHuman addition to create ultra realistic humans from scan data... also for free? These guys are insane.

    What scanning process did you use?

    • @rennyandboston
      @rennyandboston  2 роки тому +2

      Agisoft photoscan. (Although similar programs like reality capture would work just as well) I had already spent significant time in zBrush cleaning up and wrapping the model to a metahuman face mesh... then brought it in and the engine re-wrapped it.

    how was the result? is it very close to your scanned face?

    • @rennyandboston
      @rennyandboston  2 роки тому

      The shape, yes. However, the skin sliding on my first attempt looks pretty lacking. That being said, I am going to take a deep dive and try to adjust the parameters of the plugin to try and get better results. I'll be posting about that soon here...

  • @DesignsbyElement
    @DesignsbyElement 2 роки тому +1

    What do you use to scan?

    • @rennyandboston
      @rennyandboston  2 роки тому

      Metashape (although it was called Photoscan at the time) - Agisoft... although reality capture and others can get the job done just as well... I may run a test with Polycam just for the sake of it. But FYI I spent several full weeks of cleanup in zBrush and used zwrap for this first initial test. So that model is not from pure scan data...

    And suprisingly its free.I wouldve atleast make it so its atleast 1$ to give a nod to devs bcs they porbabaly spent GOOD AMOUNT OF TIME,HEAIR PULLING,NERVES AND COMPANY SPENT GOOD MONEY ON THIS just to get it done.
    I wouldnt be even mad if they made it 1$-10$ paid addon cbs DEVS DEFFINETLYD ESERVED ATLEAST MINIMUM.

    • @rennyandboston

      Exactly! Especially since so many other tools limit one or two features and then charge a premium to meet overhead. Blender, UE5, Quixel, this is getting pretty wild!
