Tay, I did a similar project 30 years ago, for a Japanese restaurant. during that fabrication, I use a fine tip, acetylene oxygen torch, heated up a round circle proximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter and flattened it with a ball peen before it cooled off. And then used 1/4 inch shot and shot blast cabinet giving even more texture. Final product was beautiful and the client was extremely pleased. Just another way to skin the cat. Great work and keep up the amazing videos.
I love your creativity and very casual, unscripted approach to your content. Keep up the great work! Oh, yeah...I'd buy a good quality hoodie... and I'd prefer any artwork be embroidered rather than screen printed!
Tay very nice job. Those turned out very well there. Hopefully they get great use out of them for many years to come my friend. Can't wait to see more videos soon Tay and the gang. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend Tay. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
I had to do the exact same thing last week for a client. I ended up using a work flap disc to get the ‘hammer pit’ then went over with non woven course, medium and fine flap discs to get the lines out. There was sooooo much trial and error and I hated every second of it for 4 days! It was by far the worst thing I’ve ever had to do in the workshop!
I love the smell of a propane in a forge burning in the morning. Smells like anti-victory! But what is that OTHER smell? :D I have to like a guy who shows us the whole process - warts and all. As for the merch. , make sure you have long-sleeved shirts. I like the idea of having some stock phrases too. Anti-victory does not need to be one of them.
One day, could you do a video about how you bid jobs? I have a very small welding/CNC plasma side business out of my garage and I do pretty good pricing simple stuff like one off signs and whatnot, but where I struggle is bigger jobs that are going to take a lot of work. I never know how long it’s going to take and I always end up underbidding time.
Great video! I love the content! One thing is when you put music over the fabulous montages you should lover the volume for the montages, so it's not so much loud from you guys talking. I like loud music but don't like to keep adjusting the volume. Your doing great keep up the great work
My work Nick Name was "Mr Lazy" it wasn't because of my work ethic is because I wouldn't take one more thing loose off of vehicle than was absolutely necessary to complete the job. The boss called me that in front of a customer and she got offended. I told her it's a compliment. That's when the shop foreman said he's my most efficient mechanic. If I need it done quick I pick him.
No project of this size would be complete without an Anti-Victory. Thanks for showing the entire process. One question: Wouldn't the grind marks in the divots show, detracting from the authentic distressed look? Couldn't tell from the video. Maybe a light peening in the divots of the completed bases with a fairly large ball?
I wonder if the "original" bases were formed using a die that had those shapes? I agree...they were most likely cast. I did a bar top distressing with some old chain. Not an option for that look. Thanks for the video. We had a crowbar at my last shop they called "the crowbar of knowledge" it had its own label and special hook. It did not work but was fun to wave at someone that had made an "anti victory".
So Monday morning QB comment....do you have a Needle Deburring Tool? It might have giving the distressing you were looking for with less effort. I don't this work and could be 100% off on this idea. The work you guys did looks great.
No he’s a perfectionist…his business and his reputation going out the door, it’s hard to show people a vision who can’t see it……that’s where the saying ( unfortunately ) if you want things done right you have to do it yourself….which is darn hard when it comes to employees…I deal with that all the time….some people don’t have an artistic vision
Tay, I am henceforth stealing “Anti-Victory” and adding to my nomenclature as it dignifies my repeated Metal working shortcomings more so than my usual “F**’!!! I FAILED AGAIN!” Anti-Victory has to be a shirt idea.
Yes! I too have decided to adopt the phase, after all, a dismal anti-victory is way better sounding than a dismal failure by all accounts! Heh Heh Tay you are a genius!
When you said hammer I had a flashback of a job that took 3 days of hammer/air tool that the customer rightly said looked like shit and had to be redone on thicker metal and better technique.
Coming from a artist fabricator my self . My brain is trying to wrap around on “ why “ didn’t you just hammer forge the hammer distressed marks ?? If this customer is particular. Wouldn’t that makes sense to do it that way . The picture shows your “ exactly “ what needs to be done .

They came out really well great job both of you. 👍

I get the feeling Tay is a pain in the ass to work for.

I achieved anti-victory and am now advancing to the rear
Awesome example with DMV .
That’s exactly how they work . 😂
Bench grinder?
Tay and Wyatt could get a side gig doing stand up comedy with the name, "Lift Arc Antics".
This is an excellent example of the cost of training. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Is it painful and expensive? Absolutely.
Get a hold of bunker branding for your merch! They partner with tons of UA-camrs and creators to handle clothes and merch out of Texas.
The Painful Pragmatist coming this fall on the BBC.
Had to turn it off half way thru bc the camera was bouncing all over the place.
Great vid as always 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤣
That slap at 22:37 had me dying
If it's worth doing it's worth doing twice...three time?
get the rose bud on it and get it red hot and hammer it
9:40 "name that movie". The Neverending Story.
When you said hammer I had a flashback of a job that took 3 days of hammer/air tool that the customer rightly said looked like shit and had to be redone on thicker metal and better technique.

These two should stop mucking around and get married .🤣🤣

Love your work.
If you get the chance- check out Sculpt Nouveau products- they have some great patinas and finishes for all types of metals.
They look great. Wyatt did a great job. On the other hand, that other guy…sigh.
yeah, that other guy needs to tighten up
We love are job so much let’s do it twice 😮
What was Tay doing over at wrymwood ? Or does he have a twin in the woods.. hmmmm
My experience with Gorilla glue is that it's mostly crap...
They look like strong hands... I should member but...
Felt bad for him, he’s obviously not the type to take chances, needs to be shown and hard when you don’t get the vision
You guys should have tied all these to the back of your truck and dragged them down the block and back and boom distressed look all done.
Just because you asked.... 'The NeverEnding Story.'
The never ending story
Hydrolic hammer
Start out slow and taper off
Back of a shirt design. The 1 fuck given coin!?
Torch and wood or raw hide mallet - not ball peen. Softer dimple
Proportionally, these look off somehow.
Would look better with a pole in them instead of the thin bar.
Still looks great, but their design is just weird.
drag them down a gravel road
Why would you buy a new t-shirt? Yes this is 3 comments in a row and somehow probably negatively affects the algorithm because UA-cam is... great!
It's only a failure if you can't fix it.
I would like to see Shirt with:
Get Bent
