Good question! I actually don't remember specifically which tom mics we used in this session, however, I can see it's a small clip on condenser mic (slightly unusual choice for toms) and I'm pretty sure we used mostly Sennheiser. Hope that helps.
The K Custom, no doubt with the Legacy coming in as a good second. I must admit I like the sound of the Meinl as well, but there are similar sounding cymbals around that don't look as ugly as Meinls. I know, I know. Not the most valid argument, I just find Meinl cymbals extremely ugly. The AAX's in general to me sound dated, if you know what I mean. Too harsh and on their own. But hey, just my opinion. Thanks for the video, Gideon. Very well made and extremely informative.
I am definitely not a Meinl guy. I think they are too trashy. My taste prefers a more classic sound. My favorite cymbals are great old 1950s As, and also Paiste 602s and Gisnt Beats.
or, just go to a drum store and find a cymbal you like, everyone has different tastes in cymbals and if you get it wrong, you can't tune a cymbal like you can a drum
Check out the cymbals here!

Love that K custom so much
I keep breaking my Meinls

For me: Zildjian A 16" Medium Thin Crash & A-Custom Crash
Paiste 2002
Yep.
paiste and meinl sound very nice
Nice! Meinl 18in gets my vote 👍🏻
My K sweet crash, and a beautiful A that I bought this year. And neither of them are new 😂
I love the HHX line and especially the complex and the legacy sets, I'm so sad tho cause I'm absolutely broke
Came here because of the cymbals, and got mindblown by the tom mics, what brand are those mics?

Thank you so much! Glad you liked it. I love the HHX Legacy and K Custom - two of my favourites along with the Byzance Sand Thin crash!
Should drop the effects on your drum mix, players will be wondering why the ones they buy sound different.
Paiste 2002. All others just don't sound right to me.

I'd also say this. But lots of people like to buy gear online or don't live near a music store. These are just my recommendations 😊
