Pierce Brosnan was our first Bond as kids, absolutely loved him In GoldenEye and obviously the game. We were so upset when they replaced him with Daniel Craig...that being said. I think he was incredible in taking 007 to a darker place and yet still maintaining a light heart. Brilliant.
Definitely the best Bond film. And controversially, the best Bond.

The Daniel Craig "James Bond" films are my favorites in the Bond saga. This is always how I thought Bond would really act. The cast is also amazing! I'm a big Mads Mikkelsen fan, and Judy Dench was brilliant as "M"! I really hope that you watch the rest of these films, in order, and I'm looking forward to you getting to "Spectre". This was great, Miss Emma! You just made my day! 😁❤❤
I would say Timothy Dalton was how I would expect Bond to act and he was closest to the books

Naw, I don't see her as a bond girl but maybe a Moneypenny or later in life another Emma in charge (Sorry Skyfall spoiler) I could see her flirting and teasing with Bond without letting anything happening. Or in 40 years playing a Mom like role to a Bond.

Hard to believe almost 20 years old! Now u gotta go back to early 60s and start the bond series, two American film copies called Matt Helm and our man Flynt, and of course the riot comedy, Austin Powers trilogy!
Also the Harry Palmer series, 3 films, the Bulldog Drummond series, 2 films and the female version of James Bond - Modesty Blaise, 2 films but they are so different with a different actress and the second film was filmed a long time after the first. The original first film is fun with Italian actress Monica Vitti as Modesty.
Skip Austin Powers. Just watch the Brosnan era. Same thing, but with a guy women adore.

Great reaction Emma. Love this one Daniel Craig is the best Bond since the late, great Sean Connery. You are gonna love this James Bond movies they are all tied together, and that chase in the beginning with that guy that do Parkour, well that guy is Sébastien Foucan the founder of freerunning one of styles of Parkour. And a fun-fact, the Aston Martin (Car) flip actually set a world record for flips in a single stunt. A number of world records for stunts were set during this glorious evolution of Bond. I watched a making of documentary for this stunt and they really struggled getting the Aston to flip they kept trying bigger and bigger ramps but the car was just too stable and kept landing on it's wheels, so they had to use an air ram mounted under the car something they really didn't want to do because if you look closely you can see it. Keep up the amazing work, cant wait for the next one. The chair-rope torture scene is from the original James Bond book, Casino Royale by Ian Fleming. If you read the book Casino Royale, he gets even more beat up than he does here. Like Bond loses pretty much every fight, and the times he does win he has to publicly embarrass himself to not die. That's why Bond in the books is always improving himself. Keep up the good work.

Gotta be the best chase scene ever filmed. Glad you picked this to start your Bond journey. After the first three Daniel Craig ones I recommend going back to the beginning maybe Lasenbee but definitely Sean Connery's.

One of the best Bond films. There are 25 Bond films spanning from 1962's Dr. No starring Sean Connery to 2021's No Time To Die, the last Daniel Craig Bond film. Currently, they are choosing or might have chosen the new James Bond for the 26th film. The big name in the news for the role is Aaron Taylor Johnson, known for films like Kick-Ass 1 & 2, Avengers: Age of Ultron (he was Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver), Bullet Train, and Tenet. He will likely be named as the 007.
- All of the Daniel Craig Bond films are in a separate universe, as we see him gather all of the hallmarks of the series over the course of his time as Bond: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, SPECTRE, and No Time To Die.
- This was directed by Martin Campbell, who also directed Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in his first outing as 007n in GoldenEye (1995). Dame Judi Dench, who plays M, Bond's boss, has played M since GoldenEye. Previously, M had always been played by men (Bernard Lee & Robert Brown). Another great movie directed by Martin Campbell is The Mask of Zorro, with Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Anthony Hopkins.
- The opening chase has Bond chasing the man who actually co-created the sport of free-running or Parkour, Sebastien Foucan.
- The 1963 Aston Martin DB5 is a staple of the Bond films starting with From Russia With Love (1963) starring Sean Connery as Bond, the second film.
- Before Daniel Craig, Bond was usually played by men who had dark hair (Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan). When Craig was first cast, most fans were not happy. Then Casino Royale came out and everyone was ecstatic over Craig's performance as 007, including previous Bonds Connery, Moore, and Brosnan. In many ways, he captures the character of Bond from the Ian Fleming novels. Burned out, on the edge, and ruthless.
- David Arnold, who composed the score, did most of the Bond scores for the Pierce Brosnan Bond films, as well as Roland Emmerich's Stargate and Independence Day. Arnold was a huge fan of the late John Barry, who composed the scores for many Bond films from the 1960s to the 1980s. It was Barry who created the famous arrangement of "The James Bond Theme" credited to Monty Norman. Besides scores, Barry co-wrote many of the opening theme songs as well.
- This was Craig's first film as Bond, but it is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond novel. For many years the rights were tied up in a legal limbo, when they became available, EON Productions (which has made almost all of the Bond films since the 1960s) snapped up the rights. However, they didn't want to do a film of it with Brosnan in the lead. They wanted to relaunch the series, so they found a new Bond in Craig.
- The Martini order is from the books.
- Mads Mikkelsen (Le Chifre) did a UA-cam video for one of the big magazines (Vanity Fair?) about his career, and when he talked about Casino Royale, he got a little annoyed. As a kid he was an avid poker player, and loved it. Everyone at the table playing poker knew how to play poker. The only one who didn't was Daniel Craig! The one guy who should have known how to play, didn't! Mads and Daniel became friends during filming...but as a poker player, Mads was always kind of annoyed that he had to lose to guy without a clue how poker was played.
- The character of Felix Leiter is a prime recurring character in the Bond films and books. Jeffrey Wright, who was most recently nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for American Fiction, plays the "brother from Langley" in the Craig films, and is my favorite Leiter as well as the actor who has played the character the most times. The only other actor to play him more than once was named David Hedison, playing him in Live and Let Die (with Roger Moore as Bond) in 1973, and in License To Kill (with Timothy Dalton as Bond) in 1989.
It is said that Roger Moore thought Daniel Craig was the best Bond because he actually looks like a killer.

I've watched all the Bond actors over the years. IMO, Daniel Craig is the best one. I think you should react to the rest of the Daniel Craig series. Many folks don't think of as well of the of the next film in the series, Quantum of Solace, as they do Casino Royale, but I like it very much.
You'll get some closure on Vesper if you continue. Just a bit, but it's satisfying.
Please continue this story. Afterwards please please do watch other James Bond of the past. Daniel Craig era as Bond is already a reboot. To fully understand the James Bond franchise you really need to watch the following:

After skyfall, if you haven't allready you should watch the older films starting with Dr No. Casino Royale was the first book but a black and white show was made in the US and rights were used for a woody allen parrody before EON productions were able to aquire the rights decades later. In Dr. No M is introduced as a new head of the branch that cut losses, Much as Malory does later. You do need the prior films for No Time to Die to understand all the tributes exspecially OHMSS. OHMSS did not do well and the actor was canned with Conery returning for one more. It is an Iconic period in Bond lore however and many site the shift away from gadgets and an overdone try at making bond more normal a bigger issue than the actor. No time to die played it much more like how they should have done OHMSS but I will stop there to avoid spoilers. Enjoy and I read the books before No time to die too and made an event of it as it was the first big post covid thing I did.

It's not the first movie obviously, but Casino Royale is the first book. It ends slightly differently. Vesper does commit suicide and tells him she double crossed him, but regrets it. The book just ends with the line "the bitch is dead." The point is that Bond was already kind of in a bad place and that's what first broke him.
You can skip the rest of the Craig films. They're not all that great. Skip the Moore ones too. They're just cheesy.

Most people liked this movie much better than the next one. I'm in the minority, I think this movie was very intense, but a departure of many things James Bond. For instance, Bond would never say about a former lover "the bitch is dead". Other changes I guess they're adapting to the times.
I feel the next movie closer to the James Bond I grew up with, so I liked it more, but it was kind of a flop among the new fans this movie brought to the franchise.
I would recommend you watching the next one and making your own opinion. If you want to go with the majority, you could skip the next wan. Daniel Craig made several movies (five, I think) so there are more movies to enjoy.

The best Bond was Sean Connery until Daniel Craig stepped in, now I'm torn between the two. Everyone in between made the character look like a fool, playing the part for laughs, thank heavens the franchise is back on track, it lost its way for years.
Dalton was as serious as Craig but more sophisticated, smooth and closer to the books. I would definitely put Dalton as 1st then all three Connery, Brosnan and Craig at 2, Moore was way too comedic (and quickly hundred years old) while Lazenby was stiff and overall average
