It's so funny that he says this. I had the same situation with my teen son. We were discussing the Bible, and various post modern concepts, and he was disagreeing with me and spouting views that were totally contrary to what I taught him. He got angry and yelled " I'm allowed to believe anything I want. I don't have to agree with you"!. I told him he was absolutely right, but I would respect him if he could explain to me why he believes something. When I pose an argument I can cite books, resources, research, etc. I told him to start investigating why he believes something.; Not to believe something because you heard it in a 20 second sound bite. I told him, cite your sources, and if you can show me facts maybe I'll agree with you. " Everyone knows that" is not a source. Now at least when he says something, he'll say, Well I heard this, but I have not investigated it.

This is why I don't think I'll get married. One, women and men have been corrupted by post-modernism, so it is hard to find a good spouse. Second of all, I don't want my children to go to hell. And in today's culture, that is way more likely. So I rather just avoid having them.

Today, watching at churches on UA-cam: First situation in USA, pastor speaking about her broken ice-maker at the beach; Second situation: an African church, video and audio poorly recorded. It is the Day of the Lord Jesus, Sunday. I want to hear about forgiveness, repentance, patience, helping the needy. Then I came here.

I was raised southern Baptist, and had a life altering event that turned my life upside down and sideways about 10 years ago. It left me questioning everything about God and life that I knew. I took a look inward and even ventured into a more mystic viewpoint. I still however believe that God is supreme over all of that. That Jesus is God’s son and he died for me. I’m fully in a surrendered life. God has the last word no matter how much we study the Bible or think we know. He can do anything He pleases and concepts that our limited mind can’t accept He can accomplish. All of my life I’ve seen God through other people’s eyes instead of making it completely personal to me. I’m finally able to pray in a way I’ve never been able to before. I feel protected in a way I’ve never felt before. I see little miracles in my life. There are things I might not understand and will not until I’m standing face to face with my saviour, but that’s ok. ❤️.

I rewatched this after James Lindsay's New Discourses. Lindsay tried to give more flesh to the nature of postmodernism, although it is indeed difficult to fully explain. But what Dr. Heiser explained is among the things that drive today's Woke movement, along with the developments of Marxism, through the Neo-Marxists, the Frankfurt school, Angela Davis' work, Critical Race Theory and other associated acts.

Very nice presentation - a question. Your approach is intellectual and not experimental. How many come to faith from a purely intellectual route? I was an atheist and experienced God and Jesus and then came to understand the intellectual and philosophical coherence. So I have never found the proofs for the existence of god by Thomas Aquinas that convincing. It’s also not intellect or experience but both intellect and experience and revelation.

    • @d.torrent1822

I'm not anti-intellectual at all, but I totally recognize the validy of your point. My coming to faith was through experience/revelation, only afterwards did I come to learn epistemology and the nature of truth. The Holy Spirit has to move for us to be effective in reaching anyone.

If you get to the point you feel overwhelmed
then I offer you these verses for your help and comfort - may God bless you
    2 Corinthians 11:3
But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
    Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
    Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
    2 Corinthians 6:17
Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

And Einstein totally hated the idea, because it presumed a "cause" that could not come "before" its effect. Instead, it posited two simultaneous events, dependent on each other, that can have no demonstrable connection. At this point, this is our only hint that information, at least, can travel faster than light.

The church can do a good job of showing differences in candidates or parties based on public policy in platforms that differ like one party of socialists trying to remove God from our life. One party is for easy access to killing babies and the destruction of natural orders like definitions of marriage, gender fluidity and critical race theory. Social justice and their feelings are their religion. Other parties are more Judeo-Christian based on a almighty God and a system of moral ethics. Which would you expect to hear about in church? I will pray for you…

Who says Moms and Dads were actually qualified "gatekeepers" of knowledge? Are you saying that any christian is a qualified "gatekeeper?" You did correctly identify Christianity as a authority- religion. By that I mean that one learns about Christianity from a person of authority in his/her life....parent, teacher, priest.

Postmodernism is correct, unless your view comes from an omniscient place your beliefs and knowledge are incomplete and flawed.
The problem with Postmodernism is the further conclusion that "meaning", all meaning, should always be challenged, slandered and rejected.
The problem of consciousness is the problem of meaning qua agreement. For most people they can agree to disagree. The flaw in postmodernism is not that they can't, but "shouldn't", agree with anyone, even each other AND themselves.

This guy knows nothing, he's a con. The term Modernism does not, and never did refer to "the modern mind", it is a period in history. The period of Modernism did not "begin right after the Renaissance", it began right after the Armory Show: Duchamp, Picasso, et al. Furthermore, "getting in boats and discovering things" is a really nice way of ignoring the overall Christian goals of cultural domination, slavery, theft of natural resources, and expanse of territory. Someone else here has already pointed the stupidity of Doctor Heiser's description of science. Do some homework. This is a smoke and mirror job.
