Explanation:
From 1949 to 1976, the government hospital of the GDR was located in Berlin-Mitte, then in 1976 this "special clinic" was created, hidden in a forest in Berlin-Buch. It received it's adjective "special" not because of special medical possibilities, but because of the special patients - only the very "highest" ranks were admitted: members of the government, the SED (German Socialist Party), Central Committee and the Politburo, as well as GDR diplomats. For normal citizens, the "government hospital" was taboo. No came close without a mandatory special ID.
A nuclear shelter and a swimming pool were even built for them. The equipment was state-of-the-art, a lot of Western technology was used. There was also no shortage of medicines here, in contrast to the rest of the GDR. From the mid-1980s, one of the two computed tomography (CT) machines of the GDR was here.
