i would like to watch the whole thing, but none of the 4 services I pay for carry it, Vice says I can watch if I have Hulu or U-verse which I pay for now, but to see Vice on those services I would have to buy a 60 dollar adder to both. So the reality of this is really don't go in a bunker and you die. Go in the bunker, live in what is effectively an underground prison, with no natural light, living off the rations that are stored. Nothing is left outside the bunker, life is over, the land, water, wildlife, agriculture is ruined. What is left of the world is in nuclear winter, which the most conservative estimates lasts at least ten years probably much longer. The nuclear winter is caused by the firestorms after a nuclear attack, radioactive soot and dust into the stratosphere blocking direct sunlight. On top of the utter devastation that would turn any of what is left of society into a medieval society, radioactive fallout, radiation sickness, cancer, sterilisation and birth defects. No medicine, surgery or hospitals would remain, no running water, gas or electricity. The earth would cool, crops fail, (although land is radioactive anyway) and famine is caused. Ozone would be depleted by up to 70% by the nitrogen oxides released in a nuclear detonation. This means harmful ultraviolet radiation now reaches the ground. Whenever the nuclear winter ends you now face the reality of the nuclear summer - with the ozone layer effectively destroyed - earth becomes a desert as the suns ultra violet radiation hammers the ground, nothing grows - think Mad Max fury road. Basically you have the option of a quick death or a slow one inside a bunker. People lost their sh*t in lockdown - imagine taking away natural light, living in a closed environment, the mental health strain of knowing the world has ended everything you once knew is over. You can at the very best go outside in maybe 10 years to face a radioactive wasteland, storms and then a world that is baked to a crisp. When supplies finally run out there is no agriculture, running water, gas or power and everything is dead. How can you ensure anarchy doesn't break out, that in the bunker groups form that end up as gangs. How do you maintain order - what stops people doing terrible things to each other knowing the world is over? What about outbreaks of disease, in a closed environment - medicines will run out eventually. Not much of a choice, the bunker seems like a prolonged hell.

So any comparisons to the weapons used in 1945 with the weapons available in 2024 is like comparing a peashooter to a fighter jet.
It gives me comfort to know that many years after I am vaporised the arseholes who caused it will still be alive and suffering inside their grim underground bunkers until the food runs out and they start eating each other.

On one hand i think the guy who got us into that situation shouldnt have a king size bed to survive his own mess.. he should be left outside like the rest of us.

Here in Australia they have built 5 underground nuclear shelters across the Àustralian desert in 4 states accessible by air only, no road access. Each bunker facility hold upto 3,000 people for 6 month. These bunkers were built by foreigners from Indonesia and Vietnam. With location undisclosed.

@@QuixEnd It's pretty simple though, just make a law that every city has to have bunkers for every X amount of people. Also every building that houses X amount of people or has enough floor space has to have a bunker. That's what Finland has done with legislation for the last decades. The US could do this if you wanted to, but you don't and it's ok to me since I don't live in the US. Also Russia is not your neughbour so it's fine really.

It's internal Post Office...they didn't have iPhones and 500mbps internet back then. All those different offices / branches / "rings" (sectors)...5 sectors, 3 stories each all consisting of ~85 offices per floor per section. And that's not even the War Room or the other support depts.

The post offices function is grave registration and will issue a card for survivors to fill out with details of who they are looking for, the postal service will eventually reconnect survivors and fuguer out total of deaths ect.

I worked in here after I Left Camp David (which isn't far away), You don't walk to the blast doors, you ride a bus. Walking the strip, which is the road that goes in front of the buildings is amazing. You can still see the remains of the holes that were drilled for blasting the granite. For ten years I was assigned to a unit that was part of the Continuity of Government. Everytime we practiced evacuation I left my wife and two children behind. I got into a helicopter and flew to the bunker. Everytime the alarm went off, I had to get to a pickup location, I'd get on a helicopter and left! We never knew if it was the real thing or just another practice. I just knew I'd never see my family again. It's the worst feeling. I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore!

I’ve been in a uk version of a command bunker many times, I’ve been in every inch of the vast underground structure. It’s really fascinating seeing the air system, sound proof rooms, the big man’s window where he can look down at map on the table.
It’s surreal knowing I’ve walked in the same rooms Churchill once stood.
I don't think I'd want to survive it, this world is crazy. People and elites are over run with greed, selfishness and power. I'd rather go back home to God or to the spiritual plane where everything is energy, love, warmth and compassion. I can't and don't want to imagine how much more terrifying this world will be for the remaining survivors living by constant fear, anxiety and constantly fighting each other for survival.

I’ve grown up in a small town clarksburg wv. I’m 18 we’ve always had an airport in my town and when I was growing up maybe around 10 they began constructing and finished a huge fbi complex just a couple miles from the airport. Around this time the airport and its runways were expanded. I’ve been told that the amount of time it took and the amount of dirt pulled from the ground for this fbi project was astronomical. In a town less than a half hour away called fairmont there is a nasa facility with huge radars and I’ve been told the amount of electricity going into this plant is also astronomical. I’ve heard rumors before that Air Force one will sometimes do touch downs at our airport not stop and take right back off. In the fall I was jogging at a sports complex near the airport and saw and took videos of what appeared to be air force one land and immediately take off about 3 different times within a half hour. After later research I realized the paint job on said plane resembled that of Air Force two not Air Force one. Very weird. My hometown is about three hours away from the town of greenbrier and I’m convinced something crazy is going on here.

You do understand that within these hypothetical bunkers are farms and food reserves meant to supply those within the bunker. Hydroponic farming mixed with a few other methods of survival with a budget no human being can touch makes this type of thing realistic. Some billionaires most likely have their own bunkers that would suffice if say America was nuked. If I had to guess most of these bunkers will be next to massive water reserves either above or below ground making water not an issue. Needless to say if the wealthiest and most powerful wanted to, which I am sure they do, could easily pull off a safe haven bunker to ride out a nuclear war.
Every grain of rice every bit of food stored will be eaten by weavels or rot into itself and their water will hide in the air. Do you really think that the Great Spirit would allow the most evil of every nation to hide in safety and comfort while the rest of the world suffers in Agony and dies - at the hands of these same evil people? Supply chain disruptions due to covid has hurt the silicon chip market for a while now which very much so affected US giants such as Qualcomm and Lockheed Martin.
The American public is more at unrest, regarding the issues such as practicing rights and freedom of expression, than any time before in a non-wartime history.
American stock market is well on its way to the dumpster when at the same time stock markets around the world are barely affected.
But oh well, you might be right. Everything America has done post WW2, in the name of "peace" and "empowerment" around the world has either resulted in wars or civil unrest in the countries which were well at peace for centuries before.

I recall being on TDY at Raven Rock in ~1971 (?) for two weeks for Exercise High Heels. Interesting how I got there and how I got inside the underground complex with no security presence at all. A really interesting and later mind addling experience when we began to think, "Is this just an exercise or is it real?"
I never understood why they make bunkers only for themselves with the single reason of maintaining government when it would be pointless since the population would be wiped out. In such event, preserving the government is the least important thing to be worried about and having a government after said such event would not work anyway since survival mode is in effect and everyone for themselves.

Once a nuclear strike has launched, there is a six minute period where the president decides where to strike back and how hard. During those six minutes the president will be ohysically being moved to nuclear bunker and will be in a hectic rush to get there/make the decision on what targets to strike back and how hard to strike back. Do you beleive any revent presidents are actually equipped to make decisions during a six minute period like that?? The answer should be NO! When a strike hits, the govt abandons all citizens, there is no protocol by fema to react or to come with aid whatsoever.

Reminds me of the movie Iron Sky, I believe that is the name. All gov went into bunkers, some humans left in spaceships and then a few come back years later to Antarctica and come up against those who were in the bunkers.

That's not a secret. Maybe what they put in it, it's day to day operations, and staff are classified, but the fact the government has their own fallout shelters is pretty common knowledge. The U.S. is hardly the only government to have such.

@@maxpower1337 I actually think some of this stuff is important because without a national defense against an attack, the best we can do is let whoever might be thinking about attacking us that they'd never be able to take the government out of action and that would mean the retaliation for their attack would be certain. I think that kind of deterrence is why we've had as peaceful a world as we have since WWII. ("peaceful" as compared to the 100 years before the war)

When I was in the military I was a member of a radiation decontamination team. We had to attend classes and re-qualify every year. We participated in drills often. Yeah, we donned the full canary-suits.

When I was in elementary. Public school in the early 00's. Somehow we still did nuclear bomb drills and got educated on it. We even took a tour of our local fallout shelter which was still in service at that time, and stocked. As a child I remember looking at the shelter and realizing it was more than inadequate, and idk how tf a school desk is supposed to shield me from a nuke, a hurricane, or a fucking earthquake. What are they made out of?

Probably cuz they keep them analog and older systems that can’t be easily messed with by electronic and nuclear warefare.
