I’ve never seen people get so butt hurt over how someone scored a goal. Does the code specify what kind of ENG’s are acceptable? Slap shots under 60MPH ok? Half clappers? Are snapshots acceptable? Maybe we should have each team submit a list of respectful ways of scoring an ENG before the game so they don’t get their feelings hurt and are forced to cross check their opponents in the head. Given all the disrespect that happens in your average game…the chirping, the stick work behind the play, THIS is what people are so offended by? Suck it up. Take the L and use it as motivation to WIN the next time you play them. Hayes compared this to other sports, yet I don’t see basketball players lose their mind when the other team slam dunks it on a breakaway, do you? I say this as someone who’s played and paid close attention to hockey for close to 40 years, sometimes hockey players are waaay too emo. Get over it.

Biron talks about GM Paul Holmgren. Great example to use. Holmgren nearly destroyed the Flyers as GM, and later as part of Philadelphia's upper management. No brainer, this was a dick move, not a show of toughness

No one is intimidated that he crosschecked a rookie after a goal with less than ten seconds left in the game. You wanna show heart? Your time has long since past. Crosschecking people in the face has no place in hockey. A lot of the hits they call dirty are good hits in my opinion. You wanna keep your back to the play expect to get boarded, skate with your head down chances your going to take a hit to the head before it gets to your shoulders. Violence, even fighting has an important role in the game. The ends don't justify the means, you want a team to show heart, this (in my opinion) is not the way.

Greig said last night the reason for the slap shot into the empty net was that there were too many Leaf fans in the arena. He was upset about the Leaf fans cheering for them, not the Senators. So, in order to help the Senator players feel better playing in their home arena. I will be starting a new trend moving forward by boycotting all senators' home games. There is no need today with streaming technology going to Senators' home games to view your favorite teams with the Senators blocking broadcast. If all Leaf fans stay away from Senators home games it will make the Senator players feel better. We can stay home and maybe have nice steak dinner instead of a hotdogs. The Senators can go back to blocking of the upper bowl so the half empty arena looks better on TV. This also might help the new owner save a boat load of money by cutting the number of seats in the arena by thousands. It will be much easier to find a new arena location if holds 10,000 seats like a CHL arena. They might also be able to use the new arena they are currently building for the Ottawa 67's and the PWHL team... so let's help out the Senator players by all visting team's fans boycotting their home games. 😮😮😮
Rielly was insulted, embarrassed and angry. Fine. You can't tell anyone how to feel. However, the way one deals with their feelings is what separates us from the animals. Even my son when he was 5 years old new that. If the NHL and all other sports networks are really FOR player safety and against hits to the head, then this is a no brainer. A suspension is merited and not debatable. The number of games he will receive is debatable.

This message is to the players but just as importantly the parties I have mentioned above. This has to be a minimum of 10 games. Exactly. This would be a 3 game suspension if it was in retaliation for a bit that injured a teammate. That it was in retaliation for scoring a goal makes it so much worse. They can't even argue Greig was mocking the goalie, which some people used to think Ovechkin's goal celebrations did.
