That’s what I’m saying! The Oilers “GM” goes out and gets Ardvisson and Skinner who are certifiably 2nd line players for 7 Mill yet the Leafs leave Bertuzzi which was a good move but decide not to replace him? Domi is OK but he’s closer to a third liner than a second liner so they basically have 4 top 6 forwards and a Tavares in decline which probably gets 55 points. This team couldn’t score a 2 goals in a game in the playoffs yet they thought defence was the entire problem!
Marner has no trade, and Tavares is waaay overpaid. AFTER next year they can make significant changes.
They not exactly running it back, but can’t do a whole lot till the following season, Berube’s 2nd season in charge is when he can have real change, I just wish Leafs could of got Pesce, Keefe has got the makings of a good team in NJ! Tho who ever wins out of Dallas Edmonton in the West I think will win the SC next season! Imho!

I think the coaching change will make a big difference. Last year the lines and players were constantly rotating due partly to injuries and also the coach moving everything around constantly

I can't believe Zadorov only got a bit more than Tanev and he is much younger. I think he did not want to play for Leafs. Can you imagine Mitch or Auston going into the B's corner with Zad waiting there ... me think not.
Leafs won’t win with soft players like Marner. Berube must know this. Tre knows it already. Team needs a better forward who plays heavy and isn’t afraid to drop the gloves.

The Oilers went from a thin two man team to having easily the deepest team in the NHL with the best line in hockey in XGF and probably a top 3 2nd line and maybe the best third line in the NHL.
Deepest team? Did you watch the Stanley Cup? Once Florida got back to it's game, the Oilers played like eight dudes and they were gassed. The reason Edmonton lost was because Florida ran four lines at them, Edmonton had their top two play on the same line the entire third period.
Toronto could've beaten LA, Vancouver, and likely the chokers in Dallas.

Not the moves we had all hoped for after the presser, but it’s the moves that don’t surprise with this team! Had a lot of hope with the Trevling signing that we wud build a big nasty D but this is more like the Tree that made those terrible moves his last two years in Calgary!

MJ is 100% correct. He was part of Leafs history for a few years. He’s seen it. He’s went through it. I watched him back then. I always thought MJ was hell of a player. Until he was traded sadly.

"Marner gets 100pts instead of 110..." Toronto Sports Network always acts like Marner is a top 10 player when he has never ACTUALLY HIT 100 POINTS let alone 110 points lol. Not really still missing a top 4 RHD, they should have signed Lilje or let him go to Arb and thrown 5.5mil at Zadorov. Between Lilje and Injured guy that's 4.5mil then move Timmons if needed.
What happened to Jones? Is he in limbo? Kind of strange for a guy with over 25 wins just 2 seasons ago.
My belief is if the Leafs had shown faith in him last year, he would have been a stalwart #1 that could have brought them deep but they had to play the Dr. Freudian angle with Samsonov and a lot of the season actually suffered and the confidence going into post-season followed.
I wish ppl would stop harping on Marner. What are you going to get in a trade, 1 or 2 20 goal scorers? Then you moan and piss about them. Many of the leagues better players do not want to play in T.O. Look at Ryan O'Riley who could not wait to get out of Dodge. These moves should have been made in 2021. Marner traded and a new coach plus focus on a solid goalie and more beefy blue line. The fact the Leafs dont make these moves means fans have to witness a slow mo crash. Leafs in 2 years wont even be able to make the playoffs. So Leafy. So Toronto.

The time to trade Marner was after we got knocked out by the Panthers when he didn't have the trade protection he does now. Fact is, anything that happens is up to Marner, and Marner alone. The Leafs can talk to whoever the fuck they want to talk to, but Marner has complete control and I can't see him waiving. It's a contract year, why would he waive and leave Auston Matthews? There are a lot of assists for Marner to pick up in the regular season, and that means more money haha.
I love the Maple Leafs, but I have no faith they will win a Stanley Cup in my lifetime. I've seen them go to 4 Conference Finals, and those were great rides as a fan, but I've seen nothing in the playoffs from this group that gives me faith.
Matthews is the one hoping they don't trade Marner. He does not want to drop down to 35-40 goals
