This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.
I think the thing I enjoy most about your videos, aside from the really clean and modern pieces you make, has got to be how deliberate everything is. There's a deliberate considered pace to your narrating the videos, there's a very methodical process for all of the shots of the various cuts you make. It's incredibly relaxing to watch.
I love how you talk through the process and show how to make it….. not just show wood cutting like other video creators. I’m going to make this…. And think of a creative name for it…. Key table….. or walk by the table
Classic Chris right here, loving the precision cuts and the clean shots, not to mention the "I'm busy but not that busy" parenting and NPR voice wittyness. Two thumbs up.
The production level of your videos Chris are insanely good, the intelligence behind how you mix background music, perfectly filmed hd story telling video shots and your smart introspective narration dubbed over the top is extremely high... well done!! Love watching your vidoes. Thankyou.
Thanks Patrick...I'm glad people think so. It would be way quicker to not do a lot of the stuff I do - but I figure since I'm only building the project once...might as well get as much from it as I can :)
I really love the style of your videos and your approach to wood working. Meticulous, methodical, and passionate. Your videos are incredibly soothing to watch and remind me that woodworking shouldn't be rushed. Thank you for making "working with your hands" cool again.
Two questions on tools - the measuring tool @1:40 and the flush trim saw you use at around @3.40 - do you have exact names for those or where you got them? Thanks!
Yeah, the measuring tool has a link in the description to amazon. The hand saw I thought was amazon...but I can't find it in my order history for some reason...so I might be wrong.
I'd love to see you involve your son in the videos or a project, a child is like a sponge, they hold so much and as a kid I loved helping my dad build, and with a son of my own I see the enjoyment my son gets out of helping me.
The more I watch your videos, the more details I notice! The cinematography is incredible, I deeply appreciate your efforts in the quality, attention to detail, and information throughout each one!
My day can't get any better, first of all, it's Friday, and thanks to that, today I'll eat my favorite salad, going to buy it I get the notification that Chris uploaded a new video, and the long ones! Thanks Chris, btw, excellent video, as always! ☺️
I watch your videos when i need to relax after a long week OR when my baby wakes up at 3am in the morning (like right now!). Excellent work! Keep it up!
Beautiful, clean hall, sofa, coffee, dining, etc table. Great clean lines, simple joinery & the walnut wood is a great choice. Once again, great video!
Hey Chris! I have a tip for you that you might find helpful or useful. When using a router (handheld, trim, table) rotate counter clockwise when routing exterior edges (table and counter tops) and clockwise on inside or interior edges (sink cut-out). When using a table, same applies, just rotate the wood or work piece counter clockwise on exterior edges and rotate it clockwise for interior edges. There's a few reasons for doing this. Helps with blow out and tear out. Helps keep control of the router but most importantly it will keep your router bits sharp because of their design. I put the sink example above because that's how I was taught to remember it. Picture a rectangular counter top with a circle cut out in the middle for a sink. We go counter clockwise on outside or exterior edges and clockwise around the sink hole or interior edges. I learned to remember it as clockwise around the clock (circle sink cut out) Best of luck, keep up the great content. Love the podcast by the way and what You, Mike, and Ben have created!
Hey Marc...good tips. It's funny, when I'm using the table router, I usually do rotate the piece counter clock-wise when I go around curves on the outside. I didn't know I should, but I think I do it b/c it just feels right ergonomically for some reason. Using a handheld router, I never even though about rotating. But I will keep it in mind.
I had a router destroy a piece on me one time and I ask someone how they have so much control and they explained it to me, especially with trim bits for coping templates or trimming laminate. Thanks for the reply!!
Beautiful project. Love this design and the grain on that front piece of walnut is fantastic! I like the way you let the wood speak for itself. No fancy twiddly bits to distract the eye. Keep it up, you inspire me to get into my own projects with a lot more confidence and enthusiasm. Thanks for that.
I’m from Singapore and I really want to learn woodworking but it’s pretty hard to get around it over here. But watching your videos and all the projects that you’ve made so far, made me not give up on the idea and hopefully I get to make some furnitures myself. I love what you’re doing and it’s always enjoyable watching these videos. So thank you!
Very nice piece Chris. Simple elegant and modern. I could see this in a furniture line and doing very well. It's style can transcend many different design aesthetics. I like the return to your "roots" in your film making. Wonderful job. Hope you and the family have a wonderful thanksgiving.
Not gonna lie, mid-century style furniture isn't my favored style. Your videos on the other hand are some of the best on youtube. I love your editing, subtle soundtrack, voice over, and of course that little bit wisdom you share each video. Thank you.
If you could do a video using just the beginner tools it would be SO COOL. Most of us don't have what you have and feel discouraged because of it, it'd be nice to see all the possibilities.
Anytime I post a video, I'll immediately get about 3 thumbs down - I think I have three people out there who really dislike me and have a notification that they're always ready to pounce on.
Thanks Sonny...I did too. The only thing I wish I could have done better for that one was use a lower frame rate, it was so bright I had to set my shutter speed at like 1/500th of a second, so it doesn't have that smooth look
Hi Chris How are you? All your projects are amazing and beautiful too. I´m watching always yours projects and seeing your ability and talent. Congratulation again.
Really dig this one, man! Love the classic Foureyes feel for sure. It’s interesting how different your Walnut looks compared to my air dried Black Walnut. Mine has a lot more purple tones to it.
Interesting...The piece I used for the top on this one actually has a grey-ish hue. I really like it, but it's a lot less warm than what I typically get.
I made it my mission to watch everyone of your videos!! So just know that I'm gonna pop in from time to time on a random a$$ video from 2 years ago and still commenting on how cool all your stuff is!!! Dirty Jersey out!!
I would be really interested in seeing a video where you show us more of the design process and what it looks like when you're making your next piece. Do you scout the hardwood store to see what is in stock, get inspired? Do you make any scale models? Sketches or 3d software? Do you consider limitations you might have due to your own abilities or available tools? Thanks, and always great work!
Hi Chris, you use sketchup a lot. Will you be using the web based free edition or the 2017 make adition? Or do you think it pays of to buy it? Regards Jan Willem

Thanks Michael...appreciate it
Absolutely. The blatant Cubs support is also a plus. Keep up the great work!
Quite possibly the best produced, smartest, funniest maker channel out there. And all this balancing a job and a family. Just flat out bad ass Chris.
Thanks Zach...appreciate it :)
Thanks Jared. Back to basics :)
I found your channel today and watched a handful of your videos. The video quality combined with the soft guitar notes is really a joy to watch.
Thanks gopher....glad you found me and that you're enjoying them :)
Beautiful. This is a timeless classic, even before it has been handed down to the next generation......
:)
I really love the style of your videos and your approach to wood working. Meticulous, methodical, and passionate. Your videos are incredibly soothing to watch and remind me that woodworking shouldn't be rushed. Thank you for making "working with your hands" cool again.

Yeah, the measuring tool has a link in the description to amazon. The hand saw I thought was amazon...but I can't find it in my order history for some reason...so I might be wrong.
now I'm embarrassed that I was too dumb to just look in the description. thanks for the tip
I'd love to see you involve your son in the videos or a project, a child is like a sponge, they hold so much and as a kid I loved helping my dad build, and with a son of my own I see the enjoyment my son gets out of helping me.
I would like to do that at some point. He's pitched in a little in a few of them...but he is still a little young (4 1/2 years old).
My son is nearly four, keep it safe and as long as they are helping you can see the joy in their eye of helping out and being included.
The more I watch your videos, the more details I notice! The cinematography is incredible, I deeply appreciate your efforts in the quality, attention to detail, and information throughout each one!

Thanks! Sounds like everything is coming up Fernando :)
It's impressive to see this work of this perfectionist and realize that everyone had to start at some point in not such perfect fashion.
I watch your videos when i need to relax after a long week OR when my baby wakes up at 3am in the morning (like right now!). Excellent work! Keep it up!
Nice...glad I could provide a moment of calm.
Beautiful, clean hall, sofa, coffee, dining, etc table. Great clean lines, simple joinery & the walnut wood is a great choice. Once again, great video!
Thanks Fran :)

Very nicely planned and produced Chris. Aesthetics are beautiful here. Thank you for the inspiration. Have a nice afternoon!
Glad to see you back Chris.
I wish I was this creative. It is as always a beautiful peace of furniture. Greetings from the Netherlands and thank you
Thanks Frits...greetings from the US

Hey! Thank you :)
That is really cool. Glad that these videos are able to help you out.
one of your best!
Oh Ben....stop it :)
Love the video. I generally like shorter video, but you have a way of keeping me wanting more. The longer format fits you.
Thanks Rookie :)
Classic foureyes content, both visually and audibly. Some good chuckles in there.
:)
Very nice piece. But I have to say your video shots and music choice combined with your relaxed way of speaking makes this video a must watch.
Thanks Paul
I'm loving the return to more complicated hard wood pieces!
Thanks!
Chris, it's another very easy to follow , quiet, entertaining video mate. Thank you. Don
Thanks Don!
Gorgeous hall/sofa/coffee/valet table!!

Great work on both video and project. Fantastic looking result and a joy to watch. Thanks!
This was the woodworking video I didn't know I needed. Well done, Chris!
haha...Thanks Greg.
Love your projects, especially this one. The piece of lumber on the front of the drawer. I love that sap wood.
Thanks Jon...yeah, adds some character and "organic-ness" (for lack of a better word) to the shape which is very angular.
Your sense of humor is awesome!!!
Good to see you working with walnut again!
it's my old faithful :)
Very nice piece Chris. Simple elegant and modern. I could see this in a furniture line and doing very well. It's style can transcend many different design aesthetics. I like the return to your "roots" in your film making. Wonderful job. Hope you and the family have a wonderful thanksgiving.
Thanks Pat...appreciate it. Same to you and yours :)
Another great story Chris. Love how you come up with these amazing designs and then tell the story of it's assembly. Amazing.
Thansk Shaun :)
Dave is my hero! Thanks Chris great video and nice looking "hall" table.
He's a good man...that's why the put him in storage naming
Beautiful project, really like the feel of it. I have to say that I think this video had some of my favorite humor though, fantastic.
-Caleb Harris
Thanks Caleb
#casebra
I came for the build, but I stayed for the narrative. Have you ever looked at the Miller dowel system - great solution for visible fixings?
Just checked it out...interesting. Does it only come in the one species?
I bought a bundle which included 1 pack each of birch, oak and walnut.
Love Love Love it, Chris. I looking at building a sofa table here soon. Your design is an inspiration for me.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Felix :)
Great build man. I like the plugs covering the screws. Mid-century meets Craftsman. I like it.
Thanks Josh
I can't help but hear George Costanza screaming CASEBRA in my head right now.. totally could have been in a Seinfeld episode. Amazing build again!!
Maybe they'll bring it back for this one story line :)
Absolutely beautiful table!!
Beautifull piece! Congratulations. Regards from Argentina.
Thanks! Greetings from the US
chris the king of walnut!!!
If that's the case I should start getting it for free :)
Not gonna lie, mid-century style furniture isn't my favored style. Your videos on the other hand are some of the best on youtube. I love your editing, subtle soundtrack, voice over, and of course that little bit wisdom you share each video. Thank you.

Your project always makes me happy and smile. Thank you Chris !!

Beautiful Design. Looks great!

Very nice project. Greetings from Brazil
Absolutely gorgeous. 👍
Great Job as usual. Loved the up close pull saw shots.
Thanks Sonny...I did too. The only thing I wish I could have done better for that one was use a lower frame rate, it was so bright I had to set my shutter speed at like 1/500th of a second, so it doesn't have that smooth look
Keep crushing it Dave.
haha...the man has a gift
Awesome video. Great looking table!

Beautiful peice! Just curious if the mitres on the case are strong enough without being reinforced? Thanks!
Way better than the bed! That is an inspiring project ;)
Thanks Gregoire :)
I made it my mission to watch everyone of your videos!! So just know that I'm gonna pop in from time to time on a random a$$ video from 2 years ago and still commenting on how cool all your stuff is!!! Dirty Jersey out!!
No problem there. Just glad that people care enough to go back through the catalog :)
Chris, nice job!

Mill in Canada! This piece is beautiful!
Thanks Brendan...and if that's not reason enough to get into it, then I don't know what is
Love this channel. Keep it up! Philosophy and all. I like your humour.
Thanks Roy
great content and thanks for the 2 months of skillshare!
Thanks Jordan :)
what are you using to finish your walnut builds? and would you recommend it, or something else maybe?
The link is in the description for what I used here...it's the Arm R Seal link. It's pretty simple to use, and you can get good results.
Another great video! Keep it up!
Great build! I enjoyed watching you edit that photo in PS as well.
Thanks...I thought people might get a kick out of that :)
Impressive as always, love the podcast as well!
Thanks! :)
Awesome project!
Nice new tools! Nicely done project.
Thanks Thomas
so so good!!!

Best pice from you yet. Like the design.

What kind of clamps are those at 4:32?
Rockler Bandy Clamps...tell them I sent ya :)
Funny ending mate, made me chuckle. Nice job chris, I loved the hall table.

Freaking incredible video and table - as usual. Thanks for posting, Chris!
Thanks for watching brandon :)
Love this project!
Thanks :)

Thanks Abel...I may be doing more of this sort of things next year...figuring some stuff out :)
@7:37 did you cut into your template??
Yeah...a little...I think the piece was not resting flat on the table at first. Nothing major though. Easily cleaned up.
kinda looked like your bearing is toast. anyway, nice work man!
Nice like always
Nice video!!!
Hi Chris, you use sketchup a lot. Will you be using the web based free edition or the 2017 make adition? Or do you think it pays of to buy it? Regards Jan Willem
I think it depends on what you're going to use it for. As I get more into digital fabrication, etc... paying for it becomes more tempting.
Awesome! Thank you for this great video and fantastic job!
Costa Mesa. You should check out OCCs wood shop program. They’re always looking for guest speakers. I think you’d do a great job.
Damn you that looks fantastic! Well done sir!
Thanks Tarek
