I agree 1000%, I couldn't plane a 2x4 to save my life. This is my first time seeing your videos and let me say, you are a craftsmen! I don't even know how I ended up here but I subscribed. Cheers!
This is the first video I’ve seen from you guys and I’m in love. I usually watch woodworking videos to fall asleep, i sleepily clicked this from my suggested and it’s now 3am and I’m wide awake. This video is a captivating blend of poetry, art, humor, and goofs. Can’t wait to see more, I’m sold, never subscribed to a channel this fast
I absolutely love this guy. This is like the 2nd or 3rd time I came across his video but the way he talks makes me calm and like i could go on for ages about how deep some things hes saying really are. Its like it feels like i know him and i could talk with him for ages and everything he says makes sence. i dont even know nothing about woodwork but i still watch him for some reason. it feels good to just lay down and play his videos and i cannot say anything bad about him. this guy is like my favourite thing to watch
Out of all the wood working channels I watch, there’s just something different about your work. The design, the angles, the commentary etc… Everything you do is truly a work of art and I love it. I’ve seen the previous L-shape desk you’ve made and I regret getting the desk I have now because I would love to have a desk like this! Keep up the great work! ❤
Wow, thank you! That is a very kind comment. I definitely try my hardest to make a good video. And I’ll keep trying to get better. As for the last L desk. It seems like we make one every December. Not sure if we’ll go for a hat trick next year.
Loved the ode to Shaun, his early stuff got me into woodworking and is a large driver in what pushed me to become a cabinet maker. You guys were great together and it made me equally emotional to hear that you had to split up, and hearing his old outro jam with the exceptional lay. Wish both of you so much success in the future 💕
The “punch in the face” guy is most likely the same guy that mentioned the 300 bucks worth on your charity table. You’re doing good, don’t get distracted by trolls
Just found your shorts yesterday, and even if I have not done any woodworking, or shown any prior interest in woodworking, you're piquing my interest enough for me to subscribe so that some day I'd give it a try--- if not the actual woodwork but at the very least in designing custom furniture. Thank you.
Separately, you guys did some incredible work. Together, you did some incredible work. As you said, the more things change, the more they stay the same. And I completely appreciate how good you both are, together or apart. All the love, brothers. You do daily what so many of us wish we could do even just once
Bummed that you guys won't be doing as much together video wise even though you're still working together and sharing the shop but totes understand the reasoning. I loved Shaun's channel too (you guys are easily my favorite woodworkers), so I'm glad we'll be getting videos from you both still.
Glad to hear it, Chris! I'm assuming he's likely to be moving because of a family thing(job, health, etc; haven't watched his vid yet but will), so I hope all is well on that side of things. But a part of me is wondering if he can't take being in the same zip code with the scrapsketball champ anymore... Either way, much love and joy to you guys and your families! Looking forward to see what you do next! (Hoping some sort of in-person workshop thing comes back around! Was signed up in the second cohort before you guys finally had to bag it.)
Followed you both for years and have never commented before. I followed your design to build a bed for my daughter’s first apartment and it came out great. Keep doing what you’re doing for those of us who love it!!
I generally don't comment on videos and if I do, I try and say constructive things - positive or negative (mostly positive ;)). But I am part of this one woodworking group where there are so many negative comments that I am not surprised ppl would to the things you described. Thanks for the effort of uploading good content and inspiration to the DIYers like myself who can't afford to commission these expensive pieces but can build something close-ish :)
my dad does a lot of woodworking and I never really got into it, this video made me want to start doing wood working with him when we build my new desk, amazing desk and definitely would like to make the same drawers as these.
Another masterpiece. I think it’s fine Shawn is going back to his own channel. It’s like having a band, and sometimes you want to go cut a solo album, but you’re still a band when you want to be.
Man, teared up a little bit watching this video. Great homage to your friend as well. So well put together. Can only imagine the time and effort that went into this single video, from building on down to scripting and editing. One of your best.
so many learnings in this video not only about woodworking but also how life works and goes, acceptance and letting go. the videography and cinematography together with the story telling, its like perfect!!
I am excited to still have Shawn around and glad that he is rebooting his channel as well! I think that you tow complement each other well. Thanks for taking us on the journey Chris! Keep up the awesomeness
I would like to say thank you, have being able to learn a lot with your tips. dispite the fact that in my country I have limited access to tools and some of the hardware that you use, it has being full enjoyment. Also, when Shawn gets to his channel, give us a shout, will be glad to subscribe!
As a young man I was obsessed with finishing my 8 hour work day, and then my 6 hours 'refurb my house' time, and then watching Norm Abraham on some home channel. I loved not necessarily his finished items but his craftsmanship and methods and the fact that he had every powertool, jig, machine and gizmo known to woodcrafting. He was a nice guy too. I had to give up my workshop when I moved house and self flagelated myself with an insane workload and now at 51 I yearn to get a workshop back, gather up all my tools, a van, and get back on the tools. You guys are the modern day 'Norms' (not 'Normos') with your videos and craftsmanship and ethos. So massively watchable and the mid century style you have is right up my street. Fantastic work and I will be diving down the educational rabbit hole this channel provides time and time again and learning masses from it. Hopefully when I finish all my current property portfolio with my creative brain smashing the interiors, and kick back, I will come and visit you and do a course and hang out. To the trolls.... get a f******g GRIP! This stuff is fractionally distilled excellence! From The UK with a manhug. Well done and keep on keeping on! Paul Million.
This is the first time I ever saw one of your videos. It has been a while since I felt so much at home right from the start. That mix of craftsmanship and self awareness, atmospherical music and satisfying macroshots and timelapses makes me feel calm and empowered to tackle whatever is next. It's creators like you who make me fall in love with UA-cam again and again even after more than 10 years. Much love from Germany!
I hardly can't believe there's people around spending life's precious time in disliking what other peoples do. What went wrong after they were born. Why disagree on anything that's free to watch or to not watch. There's a lot of truth in what you said about change. People often do not like change. And why change a winning team. You only do that with good reason. And good reasons aren't always obvious reasons. So now there's again a good reason for change and people again don't like it. Shaun is an excellent woodworker and so are you. And we're watching a woodworkers channel so what's up with that negativity. Go search for a mirror, look yourself into your hateful eyes and ask yourself the only question left. Who should be punched íf anyone ever should be punched. You guys, both of you, I love your work, I love your style, I love your comments, I love your little plays. Live your life and never let that negativism in.
I knew there were two of you, but I had no idea you weren’t always on the same channel. I’m looking forward to following both channels now and having twice the content to watch. You guys are both awesome! Best of luck on coming changes!
It has been a joy to watch you two do this together. I am sad to see it end and equally excited for both the future of Foureyes and the return of SBMT. And I’ve gotta tell yah, I truly shed a single tear as you climbed on top of that desk. Thanks both of you for such a wonderful example of what collaboration can be.
Greetings, fellow sandwhich artist! Thank you for highlighting the silliness of people's attitudes about what people's work is worth. People deserve to work and be happy and live well. Labor is valuable, otherwise business owners wouldn't hire people in order to make money from others' work. Ergo...your builds are worth a lot. Thanks for all the great videos.
I absolutely love the angles in your furniture, they just look so good! Also it makes me laugh thinking that in 50+ years time an ‘expert’ on the antiques roadshow (British program) is going to joyfully tell someone “this is a wonderful example of a Foureyes original” hehehe
That will be fun! Though compared to the Danish MCM furniture factories, there will be comparatively so few Foureyes pieces out there that they may just never meet the open market, haha
I for one would not to see Shaun go, but I also understand growth and self-worth. What you two have done is shown that two different people, both highly talented, can compromise, collaborate and enhance each others' talents. Best of Luck Shaun. Best of Luck Chris... Foureyes is not stopping, merely changing.
I was just telling my son about the two of you joining up and becoming Foureyes. Then all of this "changes". 😏 I love all of it. Pre-3 years and beyond.
don't know how anyone could hate on the Foureyes channel! Your videos are as professional as your woodworking skills, and it's so soothing to watch. I'm learning and being entertained everytime. Sorry to hear about your accident, and also too bad that the collab with Sean is coming to an end. You're correct in saying people don't like change... Wishing you both the best!
This came up in my recommendation and I am glad i watched and you have earned a subscriber from the monologue on allowing folks to use your work to hone their skills without fear or being prosecuted as there are quite a few folks who have made inspired works and have been sued over them by some overzealous individual
I dont understand why people waste the time to troll. Clearly... you do great work. Not just the woodworking but the storytelling, production, and realism. You are one of the few well polished youtubers. Thank you.
Just started watching both this and Shaun’s channels a few weeks ago, as I’ve grown increasingly interested in woodwork. Both channels are awesome, and I’ve loved the interaction and rapport. That said, I’m just fine with having potentially twice as much content! Keep up what you’re doing, both of you. A couple of gems in the often rocky surface of UA-cam!
As a Swedish person, I have to say that I have a slight distaste for the glued fiber board Ikea seems to use in most their furniture, it seems like the antithesis of the quality craftmanship I've come to expect of this channel.
@@notyaunzzz sure but ikea does have to make mas producable cheap material large scale products. ikea can't sell slab desks as off the rip they will be over 1000.
I used to be a woodworker during 15 years in Belgium, but i'm no longer. Now I help actors and comedians to find jobs, and hope that one day I'll finish this 40yo crisis novel. But I spend a lot of hours watchnig your videos and I kind of regret my past choices. Anyway, your workshop, your tools, your ideas, your furnitures are really awesome. Congrats ! (I'm nearly about crossing the ocean to work with you (don't be afraid, won't do it).
Found your channel via Blacktails, I have been binge watching the back catalogue for the last week. Beautiful work, love the production style. Informative, enjoyable and inspirational. Thanks to you both!
I love watching your video's no ads, no product push, great woodwork and excellent narator. You are going to do great things with or without anyone else, You have yourself a great 2023.
People are always going to be keyboard critics and tell you you shouldn’t charge x for y. You guys make beautiful and interesting pieces, you should charge whatever the heck you feel like. And when it’s an auction for charity?!?!?
It took sixty hours. And perhaps fifteen, twenty years. Go build skill, amass tools, sale skill, and all the rest before its even a table. Throw the ugly piece in storage 50 years and it's antique. And then it's still all subjective. Is it handmade if you use a drill?lol. It's worth what it's sold for. Go art on life. Make with passion and the paper comes nuff to make next and pass some love.
Man, I love the attitude you're taking about people using your designs. As someone who is getting into this craft, I have often wondered about how I might build my skillset. I think copying other people's work to use in my own home is a great way to do it. But, then what do you do when you build the next thing? You can't just stack all of these pieces up in your garage. Selling those practice projects makes a lot of sense. You're even taking it a little farther. I would not have probably set out to build another person's design for the purpose of reselling at a profit. The fact that you have given the green light to do so on small scale is really cool.
Holy sheet, this took me back to my wood working days, sophomore year, while in the midst of quarantine. When woodworking was my therapy. And as I look at my final project ( A shelf made out of black wall nut, which I’m still proud of to this day) on my wall, I wish I never dropped woodworking. Thanks for igniting my love for wood, maybe I’ll take some classes next year in collage.
funny enough this channel did inspire me to try and build my own puzzle table. Half the fun was looking back and realizing how I would change the design if I did it again. All said and done I got a functional puzzle table with above questionable stability thanks to this channel.
I first discovered this channel through Shaun's channel, about the same time I discovered blacktail and I enjoy this channels, learn a bit about wood working and enjoy each of them. Shame on those trolls / low neuron count people who only use the internet to compensate the lack of understanding of how things work. If like to thank you and Shaun for all the tips, funny comments and updates, take care of that injury and have a great 2023.
I love a good woodworking project with really good commentary, this is the first video that I watched from you guys but it definitely won’t be the last.
I have seen a few of your videos over the last few days, and I just have to say, you seem like such a genuinely good guy and that is awesome to see. No major cash grabs, Not everything is a product placement, and you are even giving out detailed plans. I am trying to learn how to make detailed plans before I get going on my projects, and that is gonna help a ton! Thank you!
It was 6-7 years ago I was listening to The Modern Maker Podcast while working long laborious hours. Around this same time I started my UA-cam channel. What you were doing inspired me! I also created Jasper Ridge Woodworking which never came to fruition. But when it came time to quit my job and start my own business I knew I already had a name picked out! The past 4-5 years has been a wonderful journey! It has been fun to watch you grow your UA-cam channel and self develop same as I have done during the same timeframe. Can't wait to see you hit 1 MILLION subs!
I enjoy your view point on art and your art in particular. Imitation is the best form of flattery, however, beyond the flattery it is genuine. Your good artist and a good soul. Thanks for sharing!
never stumbled across your vidoes before, dont really have a interest in woodworking. HOWEVER! now that i just spent close to half an hour watching, I learnt 2 things: 1. i apperently have an interest in woodworking. 2. Im gonna start woodworking. You got me hooked, so the upcoming weeks i'll spend going through your videos. Thanks!
I am a long time subscriber, and I actually love you two together, you feed off each other and I am sad to see him go. That will NOT stop me from watching your videos, they are so well thought out and you show mistakes and how to fix them which is why we are in this community in the first place, I love your designs and then the final product are all so beautiful. To the "dislikers", go away, if you don't like it then go somewhere else, these two wonderful men do a great job and I wish nothing but success and please continue to create content!
The way that you shared your work, moved me. I have no plans to build anything but thought wow that is love. I guess I share/give my work all the time to but never considered it or how it might make others feel.
You and Sean are GREAT at your craft, from designing to finish. Plus your videos and cometary are 2nd to none. I'm glad you take the time to make these videos. I wish nothing but success for the company! Take care!!

Are you planning on releasing a set of plans for this desk design?
Also, you can take the real goldy brass look out with a light rub down with an ultra fine scotch bright pad 👍. That’s usually what I do for “satin”. And if you go easy you should cut through the brass plating.
Likes/dislikes it's all the same. All counts as interaction with the channel man ;)
The woodworking, blacksmithing, glassblowing, metal casting and restoration communities are by far the most relaxing content on this site.

This is such a beautiful piece of art+furniture, and the video is great. Both you and Shaun are and will continue to be awesome creators.
Yes, we need the IKEA collaboration! I’m obsessed with these big slab desks
IKEA is a factory, this is art, art doesnt scale, that is why its art.
What a beautiful art object ! Respect for your "Gold" hands, and mindfulness.
Found your channel via Blacktails, I have been binge watching the back catalogue for the last week. Beautiful work, love the production style. Informative, enjoyable and inspirational. Thanks to you both!
That is awesome! Really appreciate the kind words and the support. Glad you found me :)
Thanks Joshua...agree. For charity, I wish it was a million bucks :)
Excellent craftsmanship and commentary.
Just taking a quick second at the end to appreciate those 90s, love your sneakers collection man
I’m completely new to this channel and I love your work! Can’t wait to watch more in the future 😊
Thanks for giving us, one to end the year with.
Figured it was a slow week, and people could use it :)
Our Final Project......
...together. You'll see :)
Yeah dude, it's crazy they BOTH got selected for mandatory service aboard the ISS.
I couldn't agree more with the top comment. You are a woodworking poet. And your designs exemplify class.
I hate people who hates you guys. You are amazing, and more amazing when combined. More is good
In love with this vintage styled modern desk
This is, without a doubt, the most beautiful piece of furniture I've ever seen in my life.
this desk is absolutely gorgeous
This is genuinely, one of the most beautiful pieces of furniture I've ever seen.
funny enough this channel did inspire me to try and build my own puzzle table. Half the fun was looking back and realizing how I would change the design if I did it again. All said and done I got a functional puzzle table with above questionable stability thanks to this channel.
I appreciate how much thought you put into the commentary. The wood working isn’t bad either. Cheers.
I didn’t know Shaun but this video made me miss him already :( The desk and this video are pieces of art.
This is a stunning piece. What I love about handmade furniture is its not just functional - But it's art
That is a rare thing, a very beautiful well made piece of modern furniture I really like.
Subbed, Liked and commented! Let the HATERs Hate. We still love your marvelous work!!!!
That’s awesome man. Very cool. For me it’s definitely been a long road. But I’m excited to check off that milestone. This should be the year.
Ignore the haters - you guys are artists with an incredible gift. Keep it comin’!
I find your work exceptional. You are one of the very few that are doing something different.
I enjoy your view point on art and your art in particular. Imitation is the best form of flattery, however, beyond the flattery it is genuine. Your good artist and a good soul. Thanks for sharing!
This is not just a beautiful woodwork ... The video quality, commentary, direction and precision makes it ART. Thank you
Wow, thank you!
never stumbled across your vidoes before, dont really have a interest in woodworking.
HOWEVER! now that i just spent close to half an hour watching, I learnt 2 things:
1. i apperently have an interest in woodworking.
2. Im gonna start woodworking.
You got me hooked, so the upcoming weeks i'll spend going through your videos. Thanks!
The alignment angle of the desk, top to bottom at the end of the video is👌🏼💯
I am a long time subscriber, and I actually love you two together, you feed off each other and I am sad to see him go.
Beautiful desk, beautiful videography, beautiful words
You and Sean are GREAT at your craft, from designing to finish. Plus your videos and cometary are 2nd to none. I'm glad you take the time to make these videos. I wish nothing but success for the company! Take care!!
Stunning work and that was so kind to give the money to charity for your other desk.
Best Gray
Yas gurl! Love seeing a man working with hard wood!
You’re in luck. That’s all I do here.
I have enjoyed seeing you two together and will miss you two as a duo, but the split means we will get twice the content now so it’s a win/win.
Wow the peace is Ridiculously beautiful
